Mr P is useless...
There have been many strange and useless presents, but the best one was the year I said repeatedly that I would like a food processor, like this, *points to desired model in Lakeland catalogue*.
Although I enjoyed my 'Drive a Steam Train' experience, it was not quite what I had in mind...

We aren't scrooges (honest:D) but DH and I agreed that we weren't going to buy each other presents any more. We are (fortunately) in the position where we can buy whatever we want/need for ourselves so any gifts would just be 'stuff' which we both hate just bought for appearances sake. Same goes for all the rest of the family except a few young children and some tokens for a few friends. We decided between us a few years ago.
So, it's hard for me to empathise with OP for being disappointed with her present(s). I can sympathise as it must be really hard if there's something you'd really like and rely on Christmas gifts for a few nice treats. However, I think the hardest thing to accept must be that you have a partner who seems to care so little about things that are important to you. Hopefully he has lots of other good points to make up for it?:)
Yes, you have hit the nail firmly on the head here - I do feel that he never listens to a word I say - as I took every opportunity to mention that I dont like fakes, I like pendant necklaces etc ALL through the year! my daughter always says that dad doesnt get hints and just to hit him on the head with a brick while chanting 'I dont like fake pearls'!
Good points. yes he has good points - he is a kind and generous father - he has just been on the net for two hours now looking for a new tumble dryer for youngest son who is seriously strapped for cash and thiers has just broken down again!
He is a hard worker and he certainly isnt lazy.
he is always will to Do-It-Himself but unfortunately his name should be Jerry - he is crap at it!
But - he drives me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I think I would have enjoyed that too! better than another pearl necklace
You know something? I am rapidly going off REAL pearls now! does anyone understand that????????0 -
He is the kindest, most thoughful person I have ever met in my life. I don't know anyone (and I mean anyone) who has a single bad word to say about him.
He puts me first in everything he does ...
That's so lovely, lucky you (both):)I posted my husband buys awful presents, and I know its down to a lack of interest, he just can't be bothered and hates shopping but that is who he is, he was like that when I met him, why should he change?
Its not a big deal, but a moan is always useful!:p
Too right!Good points. yes he has good points - he is a kind and generous father - he has just been on the net for two hours now looking for a new tumble dryer for youngest son who is seriously strapped for cash and thiers has just broken down again!

But he sounds a real sweetie! What's a few fake pearls( well quite a few) against all that!:D0 -
I haven't read all the posts on here so hope your not getting flamed too much this year

I agree though - I find it very annoying if someone asks you what you would like for Christmas, you give them a couple of possibilities or tell them blatently what it is you would like - and they come up with something totally differentSaving for our next step up the property ladder0 -

he is very tight fisted with ME! He likes me to ask/beg for every penny. and I wont give him the satisfaction. I have a very small income of my own and I use that.
oh and if was to sell his pearls - I doubt I would get £1.99! on ebay even with free postage!0 -
He must have some other very good points - this would be a complete relationship breaker for me.
Yep me too Mojisola! except
He is very steadfast, loyal, accepts all my faults (probably because he doesnt notice them), doesnt stray, is fairly sober and although I wouldnt say he has a sense of humour - he does sometimes make me laugh!
OMG - I think I have just described a Labrador!!!!!!!!!!!!
