This is my third christmas with DF. He's quite aspie, and was really struggling with presents - until I gave him a list of what I wanted. And I got precisely that (yay!)

He mentioned something about a kitchen appliance and I told him that (Kenwood MagiMix MasterChef jobbies notwithstanding), that unless an appliance says Smeg, it isn't a present. It's an appliance. Unless, of course, he's not going to use it so I'd get a fridge for myself and not have to dig behind beer to find food!
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

  • Well in fairness OH has told me that he will buy me whatever jewellery I want - but I have to be there to choose it as he will never buy any jewellery on his ow

Quite sensible really as one year I decided, from a catalogue I was sent, that I wanted a particular piece of jewellery. Dropped hints and whilst out shopping he asked if I wanted to go and get it. Glad I did as when I saw the piece I decided I really didn't like it and ended up with a piece that I hadn't considered but really love.

I should have given up when I asked him to get my engagement ring remounted, after 20 odd years it was looking a little battered. He had it done and made it look like the cheapest ring imaginable. He even got an illusion setting, the diamond was big enough! I didn't need it too look like a chip. After a year of wearing it I got it reset myself.

He has no taste or more importantly, interest. :rotfl:

He probably remounted it himself with some glue or got a mate to do it!
  • If it's any consolation after 11 years together my bf got me a tool set... Reasons given for said tool set were that:
    1. I didn't have a torque wrench/ ratchet
    2. He had noticed I had been looking at DIY projects on the Internet (in the hope that he would get the hint and do them for me...alas it wasn't to be)

Given the current state of our relationship he's very lucky I have self restraint am law abiding and know how to use blunt instruments- I.e. Not on his head....

Assuming this *is* the right thread, then that is an awful gift! My sister, who is considerably older than 2 months, is also a magnet for earring givers - alas for her (and presumably the 2 month old baby), she does not have pierced ears. (In fact, no one on my side of the family has pierced ears so she can't even re-gift them.) I suppose, in fairness, tiny holes in earlobes must be difficult to spot... but surely it is easy to notice if someone never actually wears earrings? :p

er - I wont say what I think about 2 month old babies having their ears pierced cos thier mums think it makes them look cute!
Just wondered what it had to do with fake pearl necklaces and people not giving thier spouses appropriate gifts.
perhaps this post was meant for another thread on the best christmas present?
