(((Hugs))) to JoJo and Mumto5. Belated Happy Birthday to Pigpen.

I do like it when I check the Flylady list - and discover that I have actually done as I am told before I knew I was told! Discounting returning children to school, returning gifts - both N/A and checking bin dates - done last week, I was mortified enough by the state of the kitchen floor earlier to decide I was going down on my knees to attend to it - and my HHI was done this morning before Mr B was up. Intend to do another later if anyone's around.

Mr B's Family Christmas Day tomorrow, so not sure how many extras I will get done - but things could definitely look worse around here!

Froddington - not sure whether it's advice or not, but when I was doing my kitchen - which had to be a budget job at the time, I went round a few of the kitchen places with my kitchen measurements, and had them all draw up plans for me - then took the best bits and ideas and went to the one I could afford. Watch out for extras being put in - I was fortunate in having someone who was installing the kitchen for me, rather than the shop, and he went through the list of items, and struck out a lot of fiddly and unnecessary bits - took hundreds of the price, which was extremely helpful.

    Good to see you Rach

Beds stripped, WM/TD on and everyone back in the right rooms with their beds remade. Hoovered downstairs, filled the DW and sorted the recycling. More logs brought in. Dinner made.

:rotfl:Bless him! Budgies often sleep like that. Dad has kept and bred budgies since before I was born so, if you ever need to know anything, ask away!

I can come over and brainstorm a few ideas if you like :D i need to go to ikea anyway, and we could have a look at what they have in... mind you... I did remove the floor, ceiling and part of a wall when I did mine :o Now is a good time to work out the design as you can pick up the units etc in the sales, and then save up for the fitting and any electrical/plumbing work (as well as preparing yourself mentally for the mess and disruption!)

Happy to meet you in Ikea sometime in the week if you like.

Thanks for all the kitchen advice so far.

I was looking at someone coming in to measure up and do a design. I don't trust myself to do the measurements accurately as the kitchen is a funny shape with 2 doorways! I'm hoping to get someone who will do all the fitting, flooring, tiling, etc. as I would be pretty useless! Definitely planning on looking in the sales though - some good bargains around at the moment.

LW - gentle hugs xx Hope Sidney is having fun!

Hugs also for Jojo and dancemum xx

    rach - welcome back!

tomorrow is my last day off, but it might be a bit short notice ... However, Friday is currently looking pretty quiet so if nothing more appears soon I can be available :D

Its worth making a rough plan with your own measurements to start planning the kind of thing you like the idea of. I draw a floor plan and then put tracing paper over the top of it to work out different options. Think about what you use it for and what kind of things are important for you.

The study is slowly taking shape. Not sure why work have sent me a 23" widescreen monitor though when a bog standard 17" would have been fine (I have a lightweight 13" laptop with no CD/DVD drive because I travel so much so anything bigger would have been an improvement!). Half my desk is now sorted... And the shelves are slowly filling, but I'm trying to make sure I go through everything before it goes back. Final homes won't be sorted until the last two shelves are up, but it would be ice to get the boxes shifted.

I'm trying hard to stay focussed on doing personal stuff and avoid the temptation to get on with work. I need to be disciplined about personal time. Sales are not going to like me when I explain the concept of travelling during work time to them :p

    Evening all

I needed a bit more sleep after DH's birthday outing and didn't have a lot of time before going out this morning.

Had an unwelcome surprise at costco's - instead of having one tyre repaired we had to get two new ones. That was not in the budget for January. :( On the other hand, DH dropped on two coats there. I paid for a nice leather one as his present and he bought himself a warm waterproof coat for every day use. Both were good bargains, I think.

M'hell was murder - DS2 couldn't find the skylander figures he wanted, but at least DS1 now has new shoes and jeans. We also took the only return that needed sorting.

Picked up chips to go with the last left over turkey and ham for tea as we were all hungry. Since then I've had a nap and done some research for a new suite. A dark brown 3-seater and 2-seater would be nice, but funds are an issue. Struggling to motivate myself to do anything, really, so I'll have a look at the list now.

    Boxing Day
Write a list of presents that need thank you notes
Phone somebody you forgot to send to or to thank them for their gift
    Holiday Tuesday
Mop any floors which need it
Empty all bins [STRIKE]and check when your 'revised' collections are[/STRIKE]
    Clean your kitchen sink
[STRIKE]Check the kids uniform, shoes, coats are clean[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Check which dates the kids are back[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Put receipts with anything which needs returning[/STRIKE]
If you're doing the ironing challenge do a HHI today
[STRIKE]Make some time for you, you've worked hard recently [/STRIKE][STRIKE][/STRIKE]
    Wednesday
Put away all wrapping paper, tags and cards until next year (noting where!)
    Delete some emails, old links
    Recycle any Christmas catalogues etc
    Change a bed or 2
    Hoover upstairs/bedrooms
    S&S bathroom
HHI, come on you can clear that pile by the New Year
Try to get at least 10 minutes fresh air
