Welcome to the Flylady Christmas Week thread
Well done to all of you who have worked so hard to get your homes lovely for the festive period:D
This week we will be aiming to stop chaos from descending and having a well earned rest. I'll still be doing daily lists to keep you all on track but nothing taxing. Delegation please ladies, it's your holiday time too.
May I wish each and everyone of you, regulars, oldies, newbies, returners and lurkers a wonderful peaceful time
....................................................................................................
Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.
There are 3 levels per day with Level 1 being very basic, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. Feel free to mix and match to suit your own personal circumstances.
Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up
These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.
Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.
A few of the basics before we start the week
Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!
Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.
Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.
Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.
Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis
HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

CHRISTMAS DAY!
Bag up all the wrapping paper, save any useful bits and check it doesn't contain anything valuable
Delegate pot washing/DW loading!
Slice off the remaining meat and either freeze or refridgerate for tomorrow!
Save remaining cooked veg for stew! It can be frozen if you don't want to eat it in the next few days.. or sling it in the crock pot with the carcass for stock!
A quick S&S over the kitchen should see it looking fabulous again
Put the best crockery/glasses away, or just out of the way so it doesn't get damaged.
Wipe the table/table cloth
Go play with the children
Quick wipe over the hob should see it sparkling again
Does the breadmaker need to be on for tomorrow?
Don't forget to feed the pets!
Tidy the tree
Before children go to bed they must stack their new things nicely!
You've planned so much, enjoy your day

Holiday Tuesday
Mop any floors which need it
Empty all bins and check when your 'revised' collections are
Clean your kitchen sink
Check the kids uniform, shoes, coats are clean
Check which dates the kids are back
Put receipts with anything which needs returning
If you're doing the ironing challenge do a HHI today

Count some blessings from the year gone by.
The challenge is to have all your ironing done by New Year's Eve - to start 2012 with an empty ironing basket.

this is not a competition - there is no prize except feeling good that you are starting a new year with an empty basket - try to encourage each other - we all want to succeed
dont wait until the week (or day) before to get started - try to do a little bit as often as you can.
Pigpen's message from last year, is still as lovely this year
Enjoy your day with your loved ones, spare a few minutes thought for those who cannot be with us this year and who have lost loved ones, and also for those who may not be here next christmas, may theirs be an especially wonderful and special time, making memories for their loved ones to keep forever.. and of course those who may be new in your life next year

Pigpen's message may just have caused me to have a minor
Very try and reminds me to live for now.
A rather late in the day thought, but, does anyone have anyone have any experience of feeding an adult - as in literally feeding, not putting food on a plate. Any hints or tips welcome - and they are an intelligent human being, so I want to make this as good an effort on my part as possible.Work is not my Hobby0 -
I'm in - thanks Dusty

Am a bit confused about the days at the moment - forgot today was Saturday!
I don't know how you lot get everything sorted for Christmas like you do - I have so little to get done and yet still seem to be living in a tip!!
Ah well, not to worry!

I'm in for this/next week (lucky enough to be off until the 3rd)
Pigpen's bit from last year inspired me to light a candle for late OH's children. He was an excellent father and went all out to make Christmas special for them. Lots of love to L & H xxx (hi to Pigpen - hope you have a good christmas)
Have a great day tomorrow x0 -

In my job I have to feed people. Imo it is more a personal to that person sort of thing. If they didn't have many teeth to chew then make it easier by giving soft foods chopped up. Unless they are going to really make a mess then I wouldn't make it too obvious eg eg putting a tea towel as a bib. Just try and maintain the person's dignity.
If they are able to speak then you ask them questions such as if they want you to sit opposite them or more to the side.
It's not much differant than feeding yourself except you need to go at their eating pace and watch out for choking. Relax and don't take any notice if you know what I mean. hope that helps abit. Have fun.0 -
OH lovely thanks Dusty please can you include me this week. Many thanks0

Been watching tv with the kids and have done most of my ironing at the same time. DH has tidied up the kitchen so I need to just have a 5 minute tidy down here, put the washing on the maiden and sort out the presents. Annoyingly feeling very untired. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
