As I was in town (Stockton) to check the tail end of the M&S sale I popped into Boots. Very quiet and still at 50% but stock significantly lower than a few days ago.I guess there won't be much left if the 75% sale ever starts. Retail park has much more stock on the shelves. HTHAwaiting a new sig0

Wouldn't help me as I'm not a daily visitor but I hear what you are saying. Like someone else is saying, I think there should be a limit on how much you can buy. I think many people may be put off by the scrums and don't go. Those bulk buying are unlikely to buy anything else whereas if more people were there it's likely to increase sales of other stuff. Hope that makes sense?:)Awaiting a new sig0 -
And if you look at the Boots thread on the shop but dont drop thread, from about page 45, I posted yesterday that all the talk last year was exactly the same. Boots try to throw us off the scent each year. 75% signs have been seen in stores and most are saying it will be next Wednesday. Only time will tell, but at the end of the day, the managers aren't going to say, "oh yes the 75% off sale is going to start next wednesday" are they if it means we wont buy at 50%!!
I agree! I am a manager in retail and we are accountable for our sales. if we are not hitting targets the pressure is on! so they won't want people to wait for further reductions because that would mean no-one buying until then.
I overheard two managers in boots yesterday discussing the moves they have been doing over the last few days. I heard one say to the other "yes we need the move the rest of that over there to get ready for the 75% off" he said "75% off very quietly as if it was a swear word! lol.

Same people every year go in in a team - one guards the baskets and her mates sweep all the 17 / No 7 stuff off the shelves and take it back to her - she had SIX baskets full of small make up sets the last time I did the town store - I assume to sell on a stall? It really boils my pee that nobody else gets a chance . I really wish there was a limit of 3 or 4 of each item per customer to give everyone a fair chance, it would (to a point) stop the traders from cashing in at the detriment to those who don't have a lot of spare cash and who just want to stock up on pressies. The stock will still be sold so it would be no skin off Mr Boots nose.
Anyhoo, on that note.....If and when the 75% sale begins, I'm just going to the local one that I know has the couple of things that I want.
Those going in a team (possibly to resell) will still be able to purchase 3 - 4 of each item each so will still be grabbing all the stock whether there is a limit or not.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

but if you can't get to the shop on Wednesday (or don't want to fight the crowds) then you may prefer to buy now whilst the items are available?
Lots of shops advertise when they have a sale coming up, but people do still keep buying at full price in the days beforehnad.0 -

I popped in too this morning - I agree not much at all -though a couple of toys which I didn't see at TP - unless they are moving stock around between stores0 -
Hi, does anyone know what the stocks are like at Castlepoint or Bournemouth town centre please, we have major roadworks going on close to me and it would mean setting off really early to get anything worth having and I don't want to waste my time dragging there if theres nothing worth going for, Thanks in advance :beer:0

I'm very glad to report I won't be bothering with my usual-first store if 75% starts on Wednesday - it has less than half of what it usually does on the shelves, and nothing I particularly want.
D£rby W£stfield still has loads of stock - very surprised!0 -
Cheers for that, I may end up going to the Kirkstall, Crown Point or White Rose instead? I'd hate to get knocked over or something, I'm clumsy enough as it is, suppose a chaotic boots probably won't help!

Kirkstall had very little stock yesterday. Same with Crown Point.
White Rose had loads on Tuesday but not sure how the week has gone there?!
Might have a look at Birstall before Wednesday!!:)makinprogress0 -
