God this all sounds awful, starting to wonder if this is worth it, for me? Has anyone been in the leeds branches on the morning of the 75 Percent off who could tell me how bad it is? If it's really bad I may not bother

City Centre was 'hard work' last year! I got there approx 8.45am and it was chaos! SA's couldn't put stock out fast enough and one SA actually got knocked over by over enthusiastic (aka rude & ignorant!) folk 'battling' for their bargains. There looked to be alot of people there who may or may not have owned their own shops, judging by the mass stock they were collecting.
I managed to get a good few bits, but it wasn't the best experience tbh!
    Good Luck!

Cheers for that, I may end up going to the Kirkstall, Crown Point or White Rose instead? I'd hate to get knocked over or something, I'm clumsy enough as it is, suppose a chaotic boots probably won't help!

Listening to these stories, I hope Boots take note and secretly start the sale one day randomly to avoid all the stampedes and allow individual shoppers (as opposed to those buying 'stock' for a business) a chance to grab a bargain.

I will be 33 weeks pregnant next week and am planning to go for store opening, hope I don't get knocked about too much!
  • A friend of mine went in Boots this morning. She will not be able to go if they have 75% off next week so she thought she would take photos of what she wanted so she could show me to get for her. A sales assistant told her she could not take photos and asked her why she was doing it. She explained why and the sales assistant told her they were not doing 75% off this year. My friend called me to let me know and while she was on the phone the sales assistant came back to her and said she had checked with a manager and they were definately not doing 75% off this year.

I avoid the 50% off sale unless there is something I really want that they may run out of before the 75% sale. Why? Because all these items were in the 3 for 2 offer before Christmas and the 50% is off the full price so, an item costing £6 in the 3 for 2 offer would end up costing £4 with two similarly priced items but its only gone down to £3 in the 50% sale, in other words only 25% off the 3 for 2 price. Hope that made sense.

It does make sense but I took that view last year then didn't get much in the 75% off. I ended up in Boots in November buying at the 3 for 2 price for Christmas albeit I got extra points as a special offer. This year I bought all the presents I need at 50% off. I'm now not bothered about 75% off.

And if you look at the Boots thread on the shop but dont drop thread, from about page 45, I posted yesterday that all the talk last year was exactly the same. Boots try to throw us off the scent each year. 75% signs have been seen in stores and most are saying it will be next Wednesday. Only time will tell, but at the end of the day, the managers aren't going to say, "oh yes the 75% off sale is going to start next wednesday" are they if it means we wont buy at 50%!!
  • just been to my tiny little local boots chemist shop and they had 75% off signs in window... all stock has sold out though but they only had about 20 things left the other day anyway, our bigger ones still only half price though... not sure why xx

This is partly why I'm not doing the city centre store this year (plus they have nothing I REALLY want). Same people every year go in in a team - one guards the baskets and her mates sweep all the 17 / No 7 stuff off the shelves and take it back to her - she had SIX baskets full of small make up sets the last time I did the town store - I assume to sell on a stall? It really boils my pee that nobody else gets a chance . I really wish there was a limit of 3 or 4 of each item per customer to give everyone a fair chance, it would (to a point) stop the traders from cashing in at the detriment to those who don't have a lot of spare cash and who just want to stock up on pressies. The stock will still be sold so it would be no skin off Mr Boots nose.

Anyhoo, on that note.....If and when the 75% sale begins, I'm just going to the local one that I know has the couple of things that I want.
