erm no that means our staff discount is 22% on top of 50% =72%

I don't work for Boots, I've just been analyzing the posts up to Wednesday morning, when MSE-ers were almost frantic about the following morning's non-event 75% off sale...

Get a grip, please, it's only 25% over what you can buy stuff for now and you don't have to go through the (frankly undignified) race through the shop to get to the shelves, or the almost 'snatch and grab' attitude - with elbows and pushing - to get at products.

Saving a few pounds in the meantime might be a reasonable reward, but I'm afraid I'm not Kamikaze enought to try....:)

I have what I need from Boots, I didn't miss out and @ 50% off it was a price I was prepared to pay and I didn't have get all emotional or go to A&E as a consequence...:p

I've made savings in more ways than one. It's not all about money y'know...

Its not 25% over the current cost, its 75%of the original price so actually buying now means paying 50% more than when the 75% sale starts.

Not sure anyone is planning on an A and E visit either.

Maybe some of use actually enjoy looking forward to the sale, so yes its not all about money but maybe the actually FUN of the chase/hunt of the bargains.

being one of those people that got excited and was looking forward to the possibility of 75% off starting yesterday, i rang the small liverpool store (even though i live in manchester!) that opened at 7, SA said it was the branch at a train station (so very small), to try and confirm the sale. the SA was very kind and polite and said she would have scanned an item to check for me but all the stores xmas stock had been transferred to another larger store in liverpool the day before to make way for new lines.
just a theory but maybe smaller stores that no longer have the xmas sale has just transferred any remaining xmas stock to a larger store. this was a common practice when i was a manger at clinton cards. stockports stock would be transferred to cheadle with double the display space, cheadle was able to put out new lines aswell as keep out sale stock because its bigger!

again this is just a theory form my experience of working in retail :)

Think this would have been the Lime street boots that you called, it is only a small store.

There are two biggish storesnin Liverpool, the Church street branch and the Clayton sq branch both which have two floors. Clayton sq is much bigger though so I persume this is where the stock will be moved to. Would be intresting to know if church st branch have a 75% sale too though as am sure they did last year.

    Thanks for posting the info:)

Not sure where in the country you are but there was heaps of the stuff during this time here in the South East! Have never seen so much snow before, we had to dig the car out a few times after Christmas as there was a good foot of snowfall at any given time. Certainly was the case here!

My apologies then, we had very heavy snow from 17th Dec 2010 to about 27th-ish, but not a flake after that! I thought it was the same everywhere. In that case it may well have been the same as the year before with Boots postponing cos of fewer shoppers.

Church St did run the sale last year but there wasn't much in it, tbh there wasn't even much straight after Christmas!!

I nipped into my local Boots (Bon Accord Centre, Aberdeen) at lunchtime and counted fourteen (14!) aisles of 50% off Christmas stock. I find it very hard to believe that that amount of stock will shift without further reduction.

Last year we stupidly went to Meadow"hell" in Sheffield
I thought in my niavity no-one else knew about the sale.....OMG!!!!was I wrong!!!!
All the sale stuff had been squashed onto 3-4 aisles, there were so many people once you got into an aisle there was no getting out. I was physically "stuck" in between hoards of people who were just grabbing. I couldn't actually reach any of the shelves. One woman was throwing stuff to her friend at the end of the aisle.
    It was absolute carnage,NEVER AGAIN!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I've been to the 75% and 90% off the past 5 years - it really has got busier as the years have gone on. 1st couple of years I strolled into the city centre branch, got what I wanted and walked straight out.

Jan 2011 - blimey! I couldn't get down the aisles at 8.30 on store opening to get what I wanted, they were rammed with people grabbing at everything. Picked up a few bits and had a 20 minute wait at the till to pay. Then drove to the next largest in the city in a retail park and saw people streaming out of the doors with trolleys full. The shelves were bare!

I now work full time so won't be attending this year - but there is hardly anything I want, so really don't feel I'll be missing out. Phew. Or I could try and send OH - that'd be a laugh!!!!!!

God this all sounds awful, starting to wonder if this is worth it, for me? Has anyone been in the leeds branches on the morning of the 75 Percent off who could tell me how bad it is? If it's really bad I may not bother
