Boots 1/2 Price Sale

Why are Boots staff so cagey and rude about the sale???..
Is it coz there's less for THEM to grab , don't they WANT to clear the old stock which is what a clearance sale is about - LOADS of other shops have their last 'clear it all' 75% off sale on at the moment and they aren't mysterious , cagey or rude about it at all - Its a SALE not a private party in a secret hush hush location or something! lol0 -

It is what you expect from a company that is notorious for tax evasion in the UK, miserly measures to squeeze every penny they can out of the public.Comping wishlist for 2017

I'm starting to get worried about this 75% off sale -I've never actually made it to a big store for this much awaited event. Last year I bunked out of work to our tiny store which had a tiny shelf of stuff with NO-ONE even in the shop. I got 2 lovely cranberry gift sets on my points which I confess I still have in my gift drawer....
But if I get to Lakeside this year, is it really going to be as bad as this? I've got visions of those scenes you see on telly outside the Selfridges store when the doors open and masses of people push each other out of the way....can't be that bad, can it.....? If it is, then I am gonna give it a miss, I really don't do crowds, stress, or rudeness.
Is it much worse than the 50% off? I've been there the past 3 years and it was pretty civilised, lots of people but no-one was rude or pushing each other. Certainly no-one with trolleys emptying whole shelves....
Ah well, I dont think it is usually as bad as other sales, the first year I found out about it was due to sheer luck of going into Boots and discovering they had 75% off, it was not really that busy, just like a normal week day, maybe due to being in middle of week and not much people knowing about it, that was 2009.
Dont know bout the 2010 sale cos we certainly had tons of snow here in north east scotland so I wasnt near the big shops for ages.:( I went last year, after finding out likely date from this forum, and yes it was busier than, the one in 2009, but nothing like the mania of say somewhere like The Next Sale on Boxing Day, Its like war in Next!.
Ive found that most of my friends dont even know about it, and unlike Next its not advertised on Tv etc. and everyone I know talks about sales like Next. Though having seen how many folk were getting in a frenzy (myself included) on this forum, it does look like more and more people are finding out about it. So shhhhhhh, keep it a secret:rotfl:0 -

Get a grip, please, it's only 25% over what you can buy stuff for now and you don't have to go through the (frankly undignified) race through the shop to get to the shelves, or the almost 'snatch and grab' attitude - with elbows and pushing - to get at products.
Saving a few pounds in the meantime might be a reasonable reward, but I'm afraid I'm not Kamikaze enought to try....:)
I have what I need from Boots, I didn't miss out and @ 50% off it was a price I was prepared to pay and I didn't have get all emotional or go to A&E as a consequence...:p
I've made savings in more ways than one. It's not all about money y'know...
At least without your prickly spines in the way on 75% off day, it is less likely that anyone will end up in A&E.
Maybe people ENJOY the anticipation of a big sale. Maybe some people can't afford the items whilst they are 50% off. Either way it isn't really your place to judge them.0 -
I've been for the last two years and its always been really civilised, last year people were passing gift sets to each other if they didnt want them and we all had a laugh.
Never come across people blocking aisles, abusing staff or getting arrested :rotfl: I think the horror stories only apply to a minority of occasions, and I've never seen women running in and going mad grabbing at shelves either :rotfl:.0 -

I agree with you. I've been 3 years running and I'm always surprised at how quiet it is. Just like an ordinary shopping day. Never managed to get there before 9.30 though - maybe I miss the stampede. No indignity involved at all...:D0 -

The fcuk have been 75% off since 6th January so I think they must have a lot of them still.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know.
