Well we have a boots clearance store nearby, so if stock is being cleared from store shelves, it's odds-on that it's going to go there at a knock down price - but not 75% off.

I suspect, like many stores, Boots are trying to maximize their profits and this is the best way to do it - rather than losing a packet on a 75% off sale for the huge amount of overstocks they have left...

Just my 4p worth. This thread gets funnier by the day with gals pumping up their adrenaline levels for a no-holds barred rush at a load of old tut/toot/whatever. I went into Boots today to see bods doing a military-style reconnaissance, ready for the off...!

    What larks!!

My recommendation is if you want it, buy it now or miss out completely.
We are money-saving experts, we will buy it if it saves us money! Do you work for Boots, as it comes across that way?

Hi all, I am new to this forum, I went into my local boots this morning (the Fort, Glasgow). I asked the sales assistant when their 75% sale would be. She said loads of people have been asking and that all the staff do not know and that their might not be 75% off this year. When I paid for my items, I also asked the man at the till (he went ballistic). He said that their definitely would not be a further sale and that all "this crap"(his words) had came from the online site Moneysavingexpert.com. I actually thought this was quite funny, he was not amused(lol). I think personally there will be a further sale as everyone was so cagey. I will keep you all informed if there is one, there is still loads of stock in this store, by the way xxx:beer::j:j:rotfl:

You have gave away a bit too much info there (even in the first sentence).. now he will be reading your post and know who you are so he will watch out for you next time you go in to store :p;)

What a rude sales person to use that tone to a customer when asking a legitimate question.

I went in my small Boots yesterday, they had hardly anything left in the 50% off sale and the lady behind the counter said they didn't know yet when the 75% sale would start. I understand that the large Boots in Broadmead (Bristol) had plenty of stuff left, hope the sale is next Tuesday or Wednesday (get paid Tuesday, lol). Didn't get much last year - just some dinner party crackers, gift bags and a couple of toiletry sets for 50p each, will make an effort to go down earlier in the day this year.

I have just rang my local Boots, in Sutton Coldfield, and they said the 75% sale hasn't started today and they still don't have a date as they are told they need to get rid of more stock at the 50% sale price. Shame!

In previous years it's always been about the 3rd week in Jan, so I think hoping for it this week was always a bit optimistic. People said it was because of the snow last year, but it was the same time last year as the previous year, so think that's a red herring.
  • Really sad but I found the receipt from last year's sale and it was Wed 19 Jan so next week likely? Hope this helps

I hate to say I told you so, but.... I did say from around the end of December when people first started asking, it was hugely unlikely to start before late Jan. As has been said, last year's was Wed 19th Jan. the year before was Wed 20th Jan - the first time it had been so late. It had been expected to start Wed 13th but the rumour put about was "due to the snow / bad weather, people hadn't been out shopping so much, so Boots hadn't shifted as much at 50% off as they would like". How true this is, I don't know, but certainly LAST year was nothing to do with the snow as there wasn't any by that time!
I put my bets all along as Wed 18th Jan for this year, and wasn't really surprised that it never happened yesterday! :)
