I think I may be cured of my Boots "problem". I didn't even bother to get up and go on Boxing Day, and yesterday popped into a store when I got a parking space outside the front door... and bought nothing..

Other than that I must be feeling ill ?!?

Is it just me or have they put the prices up on fragrance gift sets? No longer 1/2 price, now 1/3 off? Is this in store too?
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:

Not all of the fragrance gift sets were half price, several I saw instore on Boxing Day were only 1/3 off.

Yeah this is true, I was actually dissapointed when the sale first started as I was sure I got a few sets for half price last year. But after finding the receipt it shows that they wernt quite half price. Still some brilliant deals though, and much cheaper than buying the fragrance alone in my case.

For anyone who ordered online to collect instore - my estimated delivery date was given as 6th Jan, but I've just had a phonecall to say my order is ready for me to collect today at my local Boots :-D

wow- though I had just been imagining it!

I also wasn't tempted by any of the sale items. I checked online and normally am itching to buy so many things, not just from Boots but ASOS and Topshop and so on. This year was/is different, I didn't want to buy anything which is odd because this is the only time of year I allow myself time and money to shop as I get given it as a gift, I did have a few theories as to why:

The riots and combined with the financial issues going on just put everyone off shopping, even Selfridges in a newspaper article yesterday reported Chinese people spending an average £1200 per customer, Brazillians spending ave. £1000 per customer, Saudi customers having doubled and British spending £250 per customer. I think also the tube strikes put many people off shopping on Boxing day, many who experienced the strikes last year will know the mayhem it caused was enough to out people off. I'd imagine someone blowing the equivelent of £1000+ in the sales isn't going to be waiting for a bus and so this wouldn't have affected many of the international shoppers.

I also think the attitude has changed. I just don't feel like shopping, it feels out of place, I didn't feel the least bit Christmassy this year and the attitude to people I see around me in London seems to just be so negative- one forgein speaking man took it upon himself to verbally threaten me when his girlfriend took a dislike to me in a shop and I've seen much worse happen.

I hope things do cheer up for next year though.
  • there seems to be loads of everything left in plymouth, sanctuary, soap and glory, no 7 etc xx

I was still pleased with my purchase of DKNY Golden Delicious gift set for 1/3 off as the body lotion was a free gift within the kit in any case as the set retailed at just below the normal price of the 30ml bottle alone. This way I got the 30ml bottle for £21. I was using a £25.00 gift card so it cost me nothing. I now have a fragrance similar to Clinique Simply which I've been looking for for ages.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Very true, also a lot less people using credit cards possibly so only spending the cash they have "spare" which is not much for most of us,lol1
