Had an email today to say my online order is on it's way to my local store :) Very pleased with what I got.

I do usually pop in store once 75% has started to see what is left, but I would rather buy at 50% off so I know I get exactly what I want.
  • Boots announced last year that they wont be doing a 90% off sale and that the 75% seemed unlikely. They sell alot of their sale stock to companies like ASOS which is better for them than reducing them so low to the general public. And much is repackaged which is probably why the gifts sets were pretty poor this year.

    1. Family holiday 2. Christmas presents :rudolf: 3. Fishing stuff

I haven't heard that, so can't comment either way on whether it's true or not, but I do know that every year they pretend there's not going to be a 75% off sale - all kinds of different rumours mill about - but there's been one every year I can remember since about 2003? Perhaps they have decided to change things for this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was just one of many rumours trying to throw bargain hunters off the scent... you know, make people think it's not going to go to 75% so they may as well just buy it now etc etc! :)
  • It was an official statement by Boots, this came about because the dates of these sales were being leaked on the internet and I think Martin had put this in the newsletter which date the 75% sale would fall on through forum rumours which is why Boots retaliated as people held off shopping in anticipation costing Boots alot of money. I think the newsletter was the final straw for Boots. It could just be them talking out of their backsides again as they make it into some sort of a secret operation each year but this is what Boots said last year, wouldn't want people missing out hoping for a reduction that is not guaranteed to happen.

Boots have really tightened things up overthe last year. in the 75% off last jan we werent allowed to get staff discount unlike previous years and on the two.days staff double discount we werent allowed to use any vouchers

I went with mum and sister yesterday and we all bought lots of things especially dove and lynx for gifts throughout the year. Elgin high street had so much stuff yesterday. I would rather buy now at 50% off and get things that I really want than wait til the 75% and get nothing. I didnt buy anything from boots before xmas this year as I bought enough in the sales the previous year. Hope for the same this year as well.

Nooo I have been waiting for this all year :(

In 2 minds now to get what I want in the 50% sale or wait just incase....

Edit: All the online stuff I wanted has gone now anyway.

The sales assistants in my Boots were saying they couldn't believe how quiet the 1/2 price sale has been, much busier last year. Went yesterday and we bought loads - no queuing even. Went back today and the shelves were still full. I wonder if that means there will be a 75%...hope so, we'll see.
