Thanks everyone for sharing the news on this. I was going into town (Nottingham)today anyway but made an effort to go to Boots, got there about 11am. Lots left and shelves still being filled up. Got one of the big (was £65) No7 sets, No7 make up set and No7 body set, the santury set in the red bag and a botanics gift set.

Would have liked to get a Soap and Glory set and would have loved to get some toys ....... but I'm not complaining, I'm very happy with my bargains, 1 for me and 4 gifts.

The store was busy and people were ok until the staff cordonned off an aisle to restock and everyone waited for them to open it up again, then it was madness and people got stuck as everyone rushed in from both ends. Most people were polite and passed stuff ect but a few 'types' of people who I will not list were very selfish and rude!

All in all, I'm very pleased

Thanks moromir, sounds like you were very restrained when you look at some of the accounts on here of ikea bags a plenty and trolleys full of stuff! I only want a few bits to put aside for birthday presents but was v.disappointed in the Chelmer Village store.

If anyone has been in High Chelmer or the Meadows Boots stores this afternoon I'd appreciate an update to see if it's worth having to make an excuse at work for being a tad late in the morning!

I was in high chelmer at lunch and there was still a lot of good stuff, depending on what you want. I can't believe it will be all gone by now, but the best stuff was going fast. Any later visits? There were tons of the carousel boxes, still some gok, still at the least 4 aisles when I left at 130.
  • My first post - but have been an avid user for ages! :j

I was so lucky today on a complete fluke! I work full time so knew I had no chance of making it to the 75% sale whenever it began, atleast not make it while there's any stock left. I was disappointed but just didn't think about to avoid feeling left out.

Just so happened I had a dentist appointment today - but was booked at 8.15am so that I could still get to work by 9am. Then realised I really needed a haircut, my hairdresser only works weekdays so I thought I might aswell take the morning off to do both things. Couldn't get an appointment till 11.15am - so atleast 2 hours to kill and decided to go down to Birstall Boots just because I needed some things that smaller Boots don't do. Imagine my glee arriving just after 9am to realise it is 75% off today & i'm one of the first few (well first 20 I guess) customers! I headed straight to the 75% shelves & it was swarming with people with huge bags bulging & spilling with STUFF. I have never experienced a Boots 75% sale before!

I started to review everything on there and was mainly just tat and left wondering why on earth people were buying all this in bulk. Some things would make future presents, but some stuff were really just awful and tacky and also really dated unless given very soon. After dodging people & baskets & bags I managed to figure out what was worth getting and got a neat little haul.

I got (prices are what I can remember roughly) :

    • A birdcage mirror £25 to £6.25 - In my opinion this was the best thing they had, it's pretty, useful, can be a gift or for your own home, and essentially something that lasts as opposed to toiletries. But there were loads left and I didn't see anyone pick one up for the hour I was there!

    • 2 x vintage style coat hooks £12 to £3 - Similar to above, one of the nicer items but wasn't being snapped up. I got one for myself & one for a friend with a new house

    • Pasta Set £12 to £3 - A selection of kitchen tools aimed at pasta but most of them can be used for others things too. £3 for kitchen utensils is great!

    • 2 x orange & cranberry biscuits tin £4 down to £1 - Will make a great filler item to the baby hamper i'm doing for one person, and as part of house warming gifts to a friend.

    • Some kind of carousel shaped box toiletries set £12 down to £3 - Thought it was the most decent of the toiletries sets on offer. Will make a good birthday gift

    • Pop up screwdriver set £3 i think - My husband needs some tools, and while they can't be that good, it's better than the nothing he currently has!

There were lots of these little vintage style silver mirrors on a stand with ornate embellishment all around. I would have thought they were ok if I didn't have a similar item from Debenhams which is 100x better quality. Hence this looked like plastic and really terrible to me, but I saw one woman getting her husband to stand there & take them all down for her quickly. I think she thought I wanted it, but I was just looking to confirm to myself that it was rather ugly!

And then I remembered to get my normal shopping done which I had really gone in for, while trying to balance everything in my small basket - I don't know where people got those big bags from!

thanks mcallister1, did they have any kids toys in high chelmer? or sanctuary/Soap & Glory/No.7 sets please or those cute mugs in boxes? :)
  • I was never really aware that Boots had 75% off sales before...but I guess that was because all their sale stock is normally gone within a couple of days! :D Anyway, I completely forgot about the sale today until I was reminded by a friend. We went to the store at about midday and luckily, there was plenty of stock left :) despite it being fairly crowded. Managed to get lots of No7, 17 and Royal Jelly sets to give to my mum for this year's big occasions (birthday, Mother's Day, Christmas etc.) plus some other bits and pieces to put by for other people’s birthdays etc.

My sincere thanks to all the lovely people that share the rumours and information they get about these amazing deals and sales that make it possible for us all to get these brilliant bargains! :)

Did you happen to see any Soap and Glory or Trevor Sorbie/Mark Hill/ Lee Stafford? Tempting to go if there's anything I want.

I went just after 9am and there was not a single item from S&G. There were lots of black quilted style clutch bags with 2 bottles of hair products inside - which I can't remember wether they were Trebor Sorbie or something else.
  • Does anyone know if there is any sale stuff left in croydon, greater london

Well done to everyone for their bargains.

Too bad, I didn't get chance to go today. Anyone been to Leicester Fosse park Boots? Is it worth going there first thing tomorrow morning?

I went there this morning. It was crazy and shelves cleared quickly. Next year I hope boots staff prevent customers taking M&S TROLLIES into the shop as it felt like a trolley dash in small aisles.

Personally the few items I wanted were not on the shelf as I avoid products which contained the ingredient Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. My husband said that the branded sets contained small items of poor quality in fancy packaging.
