I have had a fabulously positive day today. Usual work day where I wore my Fab Friday outfit of a bright orange/red tunic, light grey jeggings and grey boots and a thick grey cardi accessorised with a black necklace I haven't worn for a long time (I made it about 6yrs ago) and my light silver crystal earrings. I think the brightness cheered me up!

But, the most fab thing was this, went for a 7.5m run and ran it 5mins faster than last week and it was great! I was buzzing when I got back! I think the no alcohol for 2 weeks now is working a treat too and the brightness is coming on!

I'm attempting a Fab Saturday too with a nice outfit to trot up to town and back for some walking exercise and to take my boots back which are too wide

Loved dropping in to catch up with everyone. Am thinking I need to get out more and make some pals so considering the WI .... Have got a list of 3 local ones to try out. Baby steps into that ... just thinking about it for now.
Spent day in old jogging bottoms so not looking too fab but did shower and wash hair this morning, used perfume and have clipped nails. Whilst l like them long, a couple were broken and actually they look so much nicer all short and trimmed rather than mixed lengths. So pleased with that.
Am also exhausted and have headache so just off to sort the horses and then bed I think.

    Hello

Also going to take care of myself by taking some time out and doing some crochet to calm myself. Sometimes life gets a bot too hectic for me, however I have learned that a tactical retreat, some relaxation and a hot bath make me feel better.

    Coping

I love the "tactical retreat" idea.

Life gets rough sometimes and we all need coping strategies, to be able to take a metaphorical step back, to gather our resources and to just give ourselves a breathing space. It might be relaxation, doing something physical like exercise, gardening or a spot of housework. Busy hands can often help soothe a troubled mind.

When my brain is in a whirl I love doing a spot of decorating or gardening. For others it might be a brisk walk or phoning a friend for a good old chinwag.

It isn't selfish to need a little time to just gather your thoughts and replenish your energy reserves from time to time. It can make all the difference between coping and going under.

    Creativity

Being creative isn't just about being arty/crafty - although I must confess I love "making and doing". I get a lot of satisfaction out of creating something whether it's a piece of artwork, jewellery or a nicely cooked meal. There must be hundreds of ways to be creative.

It's good to be generally creative in our lives too. When confronted with a problem it can pay dividends to try and think creatively, thinking around the problem, mulling things over for a while, discussing matters with someone whose opinion you value.

My OH is fantastic for this. Whenever my creative thinking fails me and I have a problem or dilemma and I can't see a way out, because I can only see two choices neither of which appeal, I guarantee he will come up with a third more palatable option.

WW - I enjoyed your post about how you were organising your money and setting up a little "you" fund. A terrific example of how a little bit of creative planning and forethought will pay you dividends in a few months time. In no time at all you'll have a nice little "splurge fund".

    Compliments

I agree with Mrs W here - the compliments are starting to come thick and fast now aren't they.

How do we receive these compliments. Do we smile, accept the compliment graciously and say thank you or do we get all embarrassed and flustered because we feel that somehow we are frauds, that we are not worthy.

Ladies you are worthy. You are all working hard and the compliments you are receiving are a testimony to your efforts. They are a consequence of all your hard work, a reward for all that blood, sweat and tears. By golly you've earned those compliments.

    Confidence

Some are born confident, some achieve confidence and some have confidence thrust upon them. (With apologies to Shakespeare).

A lot of us have issues with a lack of confidence. The good news is the older you get, for all sorts of reasons, the more confident you become.

I genuinely believe that, as we progress along our journey to Fabdom, those of you who currently feel self conscious and lacking in confidence will find that your self esteem will improve, you will start to feel more at ease in your own skin, and your confidence levels will soar.

You will also start to learn all sorts of little tricks to boost your confidence and how to "fake it" when you have to.

I totally agree with what many of you have said, the big thing to remember is that most people are not hovering like birds of prey just watching and waiting for us to make mistakes or make fools of ourselves. Most people are simply too busy worrying about themselves, about what other people think of them, to even notice any one else.

As for the odd know it all who does pounce on any little mistake we make or mishap we may have, those who might snigger at us and make nasty comments - well do we really care for their opinion. Do we really value someone's opinion if all they can do is make nasty spiteful remarks. Just politely ignore them and smile sweetly.

Back later - off to watch "The Hustle".

Well, my fabbing for Friday involved a bath. Haven't had a bath for ages, usually just do the quick shower in the morning so it was lovely! Also waxed underarms and moisturised. Eating went a bit wrong today but hey, can't get it right all the time.

Thanks to everyone for inspiration, and hugs to those who need one:grouphug:

RE nails, I love my Shellac manicures... I had my nails done on the Wednesday before christmas, and they stayed cute, red and sparkley until Jan 2nd, which meant I looked fab with zero effort over christmas hehe. Only downside is when they start to chip you have to go back to have them soaked off (a bit like fake nails)
    Loads of love all

Oh BitsyBeans that Zumba kit looks really fun. I am trying to resist ... have recently freecycled a rebounder and have club bells on amazon at the moment and a set of weights gathering the dust under the stairs...I am not sure I am a workout girl.

Am trying to rebuild my confidence to ride a horse again. I need to concentrate my efforts on that I think.

I love horse riding but am very nervous and to be honest too poor to go for lessons. Here it is £25+ an hour and I just don't have it. However it is such an amazingly relaxing thing to do :D

This has caught my eye before, do you think it is worth the money? Have you seen any results?

I think if you were doing their suggested diet and doing this you will lose weight. Would you keep it off long term? Not so sure but that goes for any calorie restricted diet.
TBH I haven't had it for WL purposes and I confess as a I received it as a xmas present this is the first week Ive really made the effort to use it.
For me I struggle with exercise as I find much of it boring, tedious. This however I do really like, I love dancing and this ticks a lot of the boxes for me. I am using this to move my body more rather than for WL. But if you buy it get it from Amazon thereby ensuring you don't pay 50 like my H did......still its the thought that counts
