    Hello!

Lovely sunny day here - think that's helped with the fabbiness!

Have on an old favourite skirt - sort of gathered up on one side affair - looks good with boots and a wrap-over top. Was going to have a quick look round the shops but just got into town and I had a call to say someone was locked out at work so I nipped back to let them in!!

Oh well, probably saved me money I shouldn't have spent!

LL, I did have a quick pop into a charity shop in town - I think I need some lessons in finding the good stuff! There never seems to be anything in there when I look! Also, seems quite expensive too! £5 for a very ordinary skirt or top

Maman, Using a scrub!! The lovely Sali Hughes in the Guardian paper talked about this some weeks ago and it really works! Use the scrub on dry skin before you get into the shower - i do mine as the water is coming through hot. Then under the water and wash as usual - scrubby net things are good - and that'll wash all the scrub off too! Really works and leave skin feeling lovely and smooth

I lost track but so identify with the feeling that "dressing up" is going to attract attention but usually when we do, it is only good attention

Book's coming along brilliantly podperson:T and I hope you're not wearing yourself out at the gym evilsquid. It sounds exhausting.

Lily (or anyone:)) I wanted to ask how you use your body scrub? And also some advice on everyday shower gels. I live in a very hard water area so it's hard to get some things to build up any lather. I use one of those net things. What does everyone else do? And do you use the same thing for body scrub?

it feels exhausting! I can barely move, he had me and DH doing circuits. I completely showed up DH. he got very ill whilst doing them and has been moaning all day.

I just use my scrub on wet skin, especially my legs, stops me getting ingrowns from epilation.

Apologies for my absence, I had a chest infection so haven't felt very fab.

    Fabbing today:

    1. Cleansed, toned, oiled, moisurised skin
    2. Cuticle oil and handcream
    3. Drinking plenty of water
    4. Healthy snacks (fruit/nuts) I'd kill for a packet of roast beef monster munch:D
    5. Bought two cans of batiste dry shampoo gold shimmer which were reduced to 79p from £3.05 (the gold shimmer looks fab in my red hair)
    6. Will shower later and apply lots of body lotion.
    7. Will make another batch of my salt scrub (I buy the cheapest fine sea salt in tesco add to a pot then add vegtable oil and a few drops of essential oil and mix up) Make sure if you make this that when using you use a gel or soap to wash off.
    Tesco: £1361.19, Vanquis: £2644.73, Very: £563.08, Next: £1636.95, M&S: £1049.92. As of 5th February 2024. Slava Ukraini

    :DHappy Fab Friday Ladies!

    Hope everyone is doing well.

For Fab Friday, I decided that I would wear a jumper dress that hasn't quite fit right but never returned as I really love the colour- it's a dark plum type colour- so I poppep a light black shift dress over the top and added a matching scarf- and it looks pretty good I think, my fab extra is a gem hair slide- have my hair in an updo with fringe pinned accross and the slide in at the temple, ooh and I braved some purple eyeshadow- as my skin is dark it doesn't look too bright for day time and I'm all colour co-ordinated too:p

so by the sounds of it this week C is for Compliments! lovely to hear so many of you getting positive comments from people, really does help to boost your Confidence!

Managed to do the OCM last night, really have to make myself do it more consistently though, my skin starts to look good and then I get lazy and have to start again:mad:

EvilSquid- well done on all of the exercise! wow you are really putting me to shame! roll on feb when I have normal days again and can exercise a bit more regularly!

SezzaGirl- the Skirt sounds lovely- I suppose you could treat your quick round trip as some extra exercise? make it even more positive!

Maman- why couldn't you sharpen the benefit pencil? I have found with some that rather than just popping them in like a normal pencil, I get a better result if I use the larger hole and gently turn against the blade- would that help?

LW- you could always bling up the gloves?:rotfl:joking- hope your hands feel better soon, I hope they weren;'t too painful! it was so cold this morning that my hands were stinging- stupid office heating doesn't kick in properly til mid=morning the joys of working in a period property I suppose- though the views and wildlife do make up for it!

Lily I always make sure I put a decent top cost on and take it under the end of the nail- not perfect but does help- I also tend to add another top coat after a day or so to keep it looking good for longer if that helps?

PP definately sounds like you've had a good few positives recently! liking the sound of you owl necklace too and way to go with the book! something I have always wanted to do just lazy/afraid I'll be rubbish at it to try....one day maybe....well certainly not something to try during busy season anyway!

HeatherBerry- welcome to the gang! as LL always says it's is never too late to join! look forward to reading your updates!

Liz-Paul- have to agree with the others- no one will ever think you are silly for making an effort, it's hard I know but you really need to stop seeing the weight as a barrier to everything else- it's such a negative cycle I think, but also works the other way- looking after yourself makes you feel better= happier you= being in a better place to make changes that will lead to helping you loose the weight- don't mean to be preachy but just think from my experience that focusing on the weight does nothing but get you down and make everything worse- have a ((hug)) and go fab yourself up hunny:D

Callisto- Hello! and :T on getting the assignment in- bet you feel really releived now!

Adelight- hope your exam went well...I was just thinking about some of my exam outfits at uni....not massively far off pyjamas in some cases:o but hey I needed to be comfy and able to concentrate and as i tended to study in PJs a lot it wroked for me ( that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it:D)

Bratz- I'm sure a night off won't hurt too much! plus spending time with good friends is good for your soul- so fabbing my my book;)

Bitsy sounds like you are enjoying the Zumba! can I ask what DVD you use? am debating getting one to try..

LL yay on the bargains! sounds like you are doing well on that front! meant to say I really get what you were saying about being content (or was it skymist? apologies) I truly think you should be happy with what you have managed to do for your OH- I also meant to say I thought you were going to be chilling out and pampering for a bit once DH is settled? you still sound pretty busy to me!!:D

WelshWoofer- did you play netball in the end??? I haven't done that since school, used to be ok at it...but much preferred Javelin practice:D and dance class....

to anyone I haven't mentioned by name, please don't be offended! I have read and enjoyed all your posts- this thread is just moving way too fast for me to keep up!

wishing you all a FanTabuLous Friday!

  • Hope everyone is having a great day. First weigh in yesterday and I've lost 5 lb :D. It's the first week after months of really pigging out so I know it will slow down from now on but really pleased with the start. Have treated myself to a new nail polish to celebrate!
  • Lily re nail polish - I know it may seem a bit long winded but I find the best thing to do is firstly wipe your nails over with nail polish remover even if you haven't got any polish to remove, then apply base coat, two coats of polish and then a top coat.

No - it was cancelled at the last minute (even remembered my kit:mad:) - but I took the dogs to the park for an hour after work and ran around like an idiot with them instead, so I have managed some fresh air and "exercise".

I had a little bit of good luck today - I filled in a teaching survey last week and they emailed today to say I was one of the first 40 and had won a £10 M&S voucher :j. I'm going to save it up and put a bit aside this month and buy something nice from the new spring stuff when its in and the dreaded sales have gone. (I hate sales, they're always like jumble sales to me and I never find anything worth buying).

Fab Friday - wore a suit (as always)and a red scarf and red shoes and proper hair and makeup - looked OK if I say so myself.

Tonight I'm going to sort out my fingernails - they need filing and a clear polish (I'm another one that can't keep polish tidy for more than a day). I'll also have a bath and a flop on the sofa with a glass of wine. Tomorrow is shopping and cleaning day - I'm classing it as food and house fabbing - if I'm organised and have a nice clean and tidy environment and stocked fridge I always feel better.

I also got paid today and have already moved some money around - put £75 in the living room redecoration account (house fabbing, up to £750 now), £10 in the insurances account (trying to pay for one of them outright this year instead of direct debit), paid the CC bill and £15 that was left over from last month into a savings account. I'll hopefully have £100 or so left from this month's pay after bills, living and food etc have gone out and will maybe put this into a fabbing account for some new clothes to make me gorgeous! (may take a while!):rotfl:

Right, I've woffled on enough - hope everyone has a good evening.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement. I genuinely appreciate it & I know that you're all correct deep down. :T

Well for fashion/fab friday when I finally got showered & dressed I wore a long cream jumper, a blue & white striped knee length skirt, thick tights & my Ugg boots. Not all that fabulous but made a change from jeans & a hoody and still allowed me to walk into town & take kids to park which meant we all got exercise, had fun & saw our friends :)

House doesn't look to fab but I've made a start :D

Well doen everyone else for all your efforts

seems like the compliments are just flooding in for everyone(except me but can't expect much if i don't put the effort in) well done!
well done on the weightloss acquamarine :j
maman i use a scrunchie too. i hate hard water.
mrswoolfe what oil do you use? it's brill isn't it?

I put some nails inc polish on the other day and it's already looking awful and chipped, it's not even a nice colour :o take it off and go clear i think.
My exam was really good, hopefully the rest go that well but i'm doubtful. Should probably have done something something fab after but my my body is still achey and had a depressing email from work, I ended up crashing and feeling crummy.
Just had an argument with my flat mate, she wants people to never use any taps or go to the toilet when the shower is being used but I think it's completely unreasonable. People already make an effort not to but sometimes you need to go the loo on the way out or get a drink and can't wait 10 minutes. She says it's being considerate but I say accepting that occasioanlly someone needs to use water is being considerate and the shower going cold for 5 seconds isn't a big deal.
I'm very into compromising (always lived in small houses with lots of people) but she's the epitome of totalitarian (textbook only child, divorced parents, vegetarian, controlling in relationships etc all those other stereotypes) and truly believes her way is the right and only way. She also thinks she's an eco warrior and follows me round turning the light off when it's not necessary (eg, i'm in the loo and she turns the hall light off so I almost fall down the stairs when I get out) but will heat an entire tank of hot water rather than boil the kettle to wash up a plate. And she moves other peoples things in communal areas to where she thinks they should be and when she's bored she will put everyone elses stuff they may have left on the table or around the house into a random dirty washing up pan
Grrr, I know ranting isn't fab, sorry, I'm just very annoyed be her today :(

    Hello

Adelight I used to live with some very challenging people so I can empathize completely.

Not been a good couple of days for me tbh and it is hard to remain positive. Keeping that in mind I am making an extra effort with my appearance and today wore my favourite work outfit and I have a new dress to wear tomorrow when meeting a friend for coffee (or wine :rotfl:).

Also going to take care of myself by taking some time out and doing some crochet to calm myself. Sometimes life gets a bot too hectic for me, however I have learned that a tactical retreat, some relaxation and a hot bath make me feel better.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
