Willow I've heard about that before, never looked into it though.
today I've Cleansed toned and moisturised even thought I'm just staying in the house. i never used to do it unless i was going out but i should keep the routine up regardless.
I'm going to tackle tidying my bedroom today and making that look fab. think i might try and sort my make up out too. i know i have 2 palettes of nearly 3 year old Dior eyeshadow in there that were never used up properly because i deemed it my "lucky" eyeshadow (i know!). I've already had to chuck the eye liner pot bit of it cz that went manky a long time ago. i think its prob time to say goodbye to it all.
i read the bobbi brown "organise" fact sheet yesterday and she says outright bin everything thats over 2 years old, anything you haven't touched in 6 months and anything thats a crazy colour you just won't wear again.0 -
I've got an eyeshadow that's probably about 7 years old... oops!Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0

I made a bit more effort in wrk today and have had a few compliments! Not big changes either, had hair trimmed or day and wore my hair down, put a small bit of costume jewellery on and some simple make up. Amazing what a few small changes can do, the comments make it feel worth while so I'll def be continuing with it!
OH out tonight so peaceful night for me, going to relax and pamper I think! And with absence of OH I'll go on the cross trainer too!
Hope everyone has a 'fab' weekend

Just a couple of days into joining this thread and I already feel a bit more positive, so thanks ladies
No major changes, but I've put on make-up and a nice top the last couple of days, and bought myself some stupidly expensive pears as a treat in the market today, rather than head for the cut price chocolate and cake stall! Not really in the right place emotionally to try a diet right now (DH is away in China, so I'm missing him) but swapping Twirls for pears is a start isn't it?
The effort has been worthwhile too, as both days I've bumped into someone I'd not seen for ages, and since I looked semi-decent, chatted for a while rather than slink off feeling scruffy:T0 -
Hi all,
Just a quick one, bored at work today
Willow - I used to be really into that in my teens - it does make sense in a lot of ways. It not about being evil as some people seem to insist on believing but more that you think about yourself more. So if someone is nice to you then you're nice to them but if someone is horrid to you then why should you have to try and be nice to them as most other religions would advocate. A lot on focusing on your goals and going after what you want as well. May dig out the old Satanic Bible tonight and have a re-read :rotfl:
Savvy and Alikay - great to see small changes paying off already.
Been a bit demotivated today - forced myself to do some browsing with a view to changing utlity providers. Need to be saving more money I think. Out of interest - does anyone have a VOIP phone? Am thinking of trying one - looks a lot cheaper.0 -
Evening!
I made a real effort today with makeup, jewellery, perfume and a lovely dress. No-one noticed but I felt fabulousTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
It's lovely that people are feeling better already but ((hugs)) to all those having bad days or not feeling great.
Everyone sounds so glam but all I managed was jeans and boots, not exactly fab but I guess it's a change. Of course I got into my normal comfy stuff as soon as I got in from work but I promise I'll put something a bit better on tonightGoing to body brush and exercise again in a bit, and do loads more boooorrrring revision. I really feel like cooking but I just cleaned the kitchen and don't want to mess it up. I want to make spiced nut milk, chai tea loaf, pita breads.... *drools*
bitsy, are you using mascara with the eyeliner? it looks terribly unnatural on us blondes without mascara, even with it less is more.
LW that's horrible, why can't people just be more accepting of other beliefs? I don't believe in any sort of god or other worldly forces and don't feel the need to put a name to my actions, but I would never belittle anyone who did!
welshwoofer congrats on the weightloss.
callisto good luck with the job
snacks, I am not criticising anyone or the way they eat, I just feel very passionately about healthy eating and hate that we have been mislead by marketing ploys. Many of the "healthy" alternatives in the supermarkets are just as bad if not worse for us. Being lower in fat doesn't change that something is heavily processed with a mile long list of ingredients. The less ingredients, the better. Avoid those "low cal" "low fat" carby snacks like diet crisps, special k bars etc as they're just !!!! with little nutritional value. Cup soups are basically garbage and often so full of sugar, sweetner and additives they do you more harm than good. If you like having something warm and savoury try stock with herbs or a squeeze of tom puree.
Foods high in fiber, protein and good fats will keep you fuller for longer and there is actually a lot of research going on recently linking high fiber diets to greater fat loss. Some good simple snacks are: fruit spread with nut butter, hummus and veg sticks, boiled eggs, nuts and fruit stirred into cottage cheese, natural yogurt, cold meat, porridge, a tin of tuna! If you like something stodgy try making healthier cakes and sweet breads like bran or fruit muffins. Don't be afraid to get creative with your favourite recipes in order to make them more nutritional and look for ones which use fruit instead of sugar, oats or whole flour and very little butter.
I know this is very long winded but even if one person reads it and sees the light then it's worth itIf anyone wants links to articles, recipes or blogs then I'm happy to PM some but don't want to clog the thread with millions.
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
well I have been moisturising daily - everywhere after shower and face and hands at night as well. Slowly getting into SW food plan - I just like the red and green days not got head round the new one. Replaced at long last my treadmill, old one fell to bits last year and kept finding excuses why I couldn't afford a new one. Its just a manual but was in sale for £60 instead of £80 and after I ordered it a lamp I had bought from there ( argos) blew up so took it back and said didn't fancy another one so that was another £17 towards the treadmill so got it for £43 so very pleased. Put it up last night and boy is it so much better than my old one ( a freecycle one and obviously the cheapest on the market, but at the time it was great). This one is so much quieter it means when I have my night into day times I can use it without waking everyone up. Its a bit steeper than old one and so more of a work out but I am in love with it, tells you all the useful bits like distance, calaries, speed etc. So far two minutes on it exhusts me, but I don't care I can jump on it when ever I feel up to it for even a minute, any time is better than none. So plans really starting to fall into place towards a new me. Hubby actually said leave it up in living room so then when you do feel up to it you don't wear yourself out getting it out if he is at work or asleep and he reckons he will have a go as well.
So just had a shower and going to put just some mascara and lipstick on and dress nicely just to go to Mr S as hubby away all weekend so will not be doing my usual shopping then.
My hands are starting to look less dry than they usually do - they were looking so old, although no age spots yet - so even though very early days can see some difference.
Hubby has agreed that for summer solstice we will go out somewhere nice to celebrate the new me.
I have actually been wearing my pearls all week - hubby got them for me in 2010 for our 30th anniversary and they have spent most of the time hidden in their box along with the matching earrings ( a bit to dressy for shopping I feel but might change) and bracelet ( they were made especially for me, he usually never bothered with presents so made up for it then) and I know they say pearls should be worn to keep their sheen. I love them always wanted real pearls and yet had ignored them, but no more.
Right better go and get dressed before he falls asleep in front of TV and doesn't want to go out.
Hugs to allNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Evening all!
Hope everyone has been fabulous today?
Fashion Friday - I'm a bit restricted with what I can wear to work (suits) but I did wear a ruffled red blouse and red shoes with my dull grey suit - think that counts?
I managed a bit more than I thought last night - did the body scrub, repainted toenails, and did the night time makeup off and moisturising routine.
I have visitors for the night (mum and dad) arriving in about 30 mins and so won't have any time to myself tonight - they're off on hols to Mexico and are dropping their dog off with me and flying at 7am from Manchester - so I'll have a furry house guest for 2 weeks, 2 dogs is no more work than 1 though.
Have stuck to SW today but it may go a bit wrong with tea tonight with the visitors wanting a takeaway. Will try really hard to be sensible.
Looking forward to the weekend - a bit of time to myself and some sleep!0
