Thanks for the advice Maman, just the sort of hairstyle I’d like. Have got a long way to go before I reach that length. Problem is I don’t go to a hairdresser. Years ago hubby got fed up of paying to have his ever decreasing hair cut and he invested in a rather strange device called a Flowbee. It’s great for keeping my short hair neat as well, let alone the money we’ve saved over the years. I think I might be a bit nervous of going to a hairdresser now, I dread to think what it would cost.
I like the sound of the hairband MrsWoolfe but not sure at my age ...56 or am I just thinking ‘old’.
Well done WelshWoofer, haven’t plucked up the courage to get on the scales since Christmas. Will wait a few more days. I intend putting all the unopened boxes of chocolates etc up in the loft and throwing all the opened packets of cakes, mincepies, nuts and crisps in the bin. I know it’s a waste BUT I’d rather it be there than on my hips. I lost a few pounds last year and I aim to continue the good work.
Adelight I’m a bit concerned about this dermarolling stuff, do you pay to have it done!!!
Well I’m off to bed as soon as I’ve done some fabbing, I’m going to tackle my feet... ugh I consider them the ‘worst bit ‘of me and if ever you could have a foot transplant I wouldn’t hesitate.Alice came to a fork in the road. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

Tg ‘old’.

I wished I'd thrown the mixed nuts away. I finished them off for my mid morning snack - obviously too many at once. I have had dreadful stomach ache all day and I can still feel them lying heavily on my stomach.:o Damned fool that I am.
Am going to go back to reducing my carb intake - definitely no wheat for a while. My poor digestive system is begging for mercy.
I bought myself the WW 12 week journal, I'm aiming for 14lbs in 12 weeks. I won't follow the WW plans or buy any of their products. I will just eat healthily, meat, fish, fruit and veg, salads and a little dairy.
Early start tomorrow so have my Fashion Friday outfit ready. Grey trousers, Per Una "twinset" - pink top with matching pink and grey cardigan - gift from a friend. Multi/ Pink and Cranberry vintage glass bead necklace made from an old CS find. Made it into three smaller necklaces, have sold one, kept one and one is currently on display for sale. So a very cheap outfit.
Skin starting to respond to the extra TLC so will be able to wear some slap tomorrow.
Re the confidence thing.
Findingmyway I definitely agree that having/faking confidence is the secret.
Now the "oldies" - oops sorry ladies - on here will probably remember this but for the newbies and especially FMW I would like to share something with you.
I was born with a rather angry strawberry shaped birthmark on my right cheek. When I was about 14 or so I became extremely self-conscious about it and asked my then GP if I could have it removed. I was referred to a skin specialist who told me in no uncertain terms to just leave well alone, that treatment could well make matters worse.
So I had no choice but to live with it and accept it. Because it had a rough slightly raised surface make up didn't disguise it.
Anyway it eventually dawned on me that most people didn't even notice it. Somedays it would be more red and angry than others and occasionally someone would ask if I had scratched myself or if I had a heat rash. They were usually gobsmacked when I told them it was a birthmark because most of them hadn't even spotted it before then.
That taught me a lot, that one doesn't have to be a perfect beauty in order to be attractive. Birthmark or no I still had my fair share of dates and boyfriends. :rotfl::rotfl: I can truthfully say having a facial disfigurement never held me back, not once I had learned to accept it and live with it.
You don't have to be a stunner to turn heads and attract admiring glances. Just a smile and a certain light in the eye is all it really takes.
If you dress nicely, make the best of yourself, smell divine and walk tall and proud, you'll turn plenty of heads.
The post script to my story is in 2006 the birthmark became cancerous and had to be removed. I had hoped for lasers to minimise the damage but my surgeon advised the knife to make sure they got it all.
There is quite a long scar now but he did a great job and it has faded beautifully (He advised me to massage the scar tissue with Bio Oil twice a day). It took a good year to fade but I'm happy with the result. My face is now slightly lopsided - it is quite noticeable on photographs less so in the flesh. I consider myself lucky to have got off so lightly.
Anyway off to bed now - need my beauty sleep.
BTW loved Mrs W's inspiring post - just goes to show doesn't it - we can turn our lives around even to the point of addressing serious conditions such as high blood pressure and incipient diabetes.
I was also pleased to see that Rummer is also starting to feel the magic.
LW - being disabled must be extremely difficult to come terms with, I know that deep down, even now, my OH finds it hard. I hope your black dog goes away soon.
G'night all x0 -
lots of seafood and fruit (foam shrimps and bananas count don't they?)
Love it!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I went to WI this morning and I've lost another 1lb in the past three weeks. So I'm just under target. This Saturday we're off to a big party, staying over in a hotel and out to lunch on the Sunday. I'll eat whatever's on offer and see how I go. I could decide to drop to the next half stone bracket in the longer term. I don't know, but this isn't the weekend to think about it.
Tomorrow, I will wear something different for Fashion Friday. I think I'll take a leaf from sezza's book and find something in the wardrobe. I also need to sort out some outfits for the weekend. DH's cousin has hired a hall for this party (your neck of the woods LW) and I've no idea how good the heating may/may not be so I need some layers and options plus something smart/casual for Sunday which will probably be a country pub.
Done a little bit of fabbing today, in terms of shaping nails (thanks for Bio oil info MrsW, I've plenty of that), make up hair etc I took the last of the decs down and sitting room looks great, like I've reclaimed the space. Also made healthy SW curry ready for tomorrow.
Rummer, completely agree about working on environment. It's like decluttering, really clears your mind as well. Thanks for 3 for 2 tip savvy, I'll pop into Boots tomorrow. :Ton returning to the gym evilsquid. Podperson, so glad you're safe and well in horrendous conditions.
Sparkles, you probably read what MrsW advised about rubbing oil into cuticles and nails. Mine were looking a bit sad back in September as I'd been doing lots of unaccustomed housework (without gloves:o) when DD1 was moving into her new home. I decided to give polish a miss for a while and cut my nails short. Have been keeping them shaped and plenty of buffing and handcream. 3 months on they're looking great. I know you have a healthy diet so it's not that but oviously diet can an issue.

WW - Fab news about the weight loss and compliments.
LW - You're doing better than me with the sachets, well done! I have a facemask sachet I left propped up in the bathroom, so I see it every time I go in there as I want to start using a mask once a week. It's still sitting there nicely packaged several days later!
evilsquid - You'll soon be buying a smaller size in shorts.
Yippeee, I have got a new dress for sister's wedding, there's a picture here I got it for £20 in the sale, so I'm happy. Have gone past caring what sister thinks now as that was the fourth clothes shopping trip in just over a week (also been trying to kit out Mum and Gran at the same time), so I will be wearing this one, once I get some shoes and accessories to go with it tomorrow. I am also keeping the first dress I bought as it will be nice to wear in the spring and summer.
Went for a job interview I wasn't expecting earlier! I was already in Worcester for an appointment when sister phoned to say there was a temporary job going, but I would need to go and see the manager that same day, unfortunately I was in jeans and sparkly trainers! Went along anyway and apologised for not wearing business dress. If I do get the job I would need to start on Monday and I will need to buy some new smart trousers as the ones I have don't currently fit me, hoping he will let me know early tomorrow, so I have a chance to get organised. Trying not to get hopes up too much in case I don't get it though.
Spent 40 minutes on exercise bike this evening. Thought about doing yogalates DVD as well, but felt really tired after finishing on the bike. I have woken up a couple of mornings with a sore throat, so don't want to push myself and get ill.0 -
Callisto - really hope you get the job and I absolutely love that dress.
So many posts which is lovely but I am finding it hard to keep up so please forgive me for not replying individually. However I am wishing you all well with your Fabbing. I will probably not take part in the Friday challenge as it is the day I go to the Osteopath so is the only time I legitimately wear my joggers. Afterwards I am totally shattered and go to bed for a couple of hours.
I am preparing for my retreat so will be having a manicure and waxing later today.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
morning all
evilsquid - yes bridal shops are a pain, I remember from my cousin when she got married. Thankfully I didn't go to any eithermy dress is off the rack in House of fraser. It is white, cos I never wear white so it'll be a change, and its a Grecian looking number so the white goes well with it. No strapless meringue for me! I actually joined a wedding forum for a while, and noticed how every single girl got a white, strapless number even if it didn't suit them or made them look huge, can't quite understand it myself.
Anyway, back in a dress and feeling like myself again! Cold is slowly going away so feeling more alive and happy. Still a bit meh but getting there. I have been a bit naughty and not walked into work and back every day, but from Monday I will definitely be back on the walking. The exercise is good for me. I did do 30 mins on the exercise bike last night though (2x15mins) but had a chinese as well so not great! Still I actually didn't go over my recommended daily calories so it's still good.carpe diem

Good Morning Ladies!
Well Fashion Friday is here! I've decided on a bright red knitted dress I bought in the sales and hadn't worn yet, teamed with thick grey tights and my black knee high boots, also a nice chunky black ring that I found whilst sorting out bits- hadn't seen it for years lol! Dress looks nice on, little more fitted than I thought, but the way the seams and cut go seem to accentuate my (new) waist so all good
Managed to do an interval training session on the bike last night..without breaking it this time!:o and it was hard going but felt great afterwards, did a little body brushing and massage and then OCM but really took my time and did it for about 30 mins...my arms were a bit achy after!
will pop back later once I've had a chance to catch up!
MrsWoolfeIf you're afraid of the big bad Woolfe....beware of the Mrs!:rotfl:

I am struggling to stop snacking on treats! I'm keeping a food diary and its obvious that the problem is leftover xmas chocs. I can't throw them out as everyone else will eat them but any little tricks to keep myself in check or any suggestions for ealthier more filling snacks I can have (barring fresh fruit as I hate it with a passion, I know it's terrible but I just can't stomach it)? I do need to eat between my meals as I get really hungry but I'm a little bit stumped as to what to have. Any help please?1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100

I am not a fan of fruit either
Do you like carrot sticks? hummus (sp?) and pitta bread? Crackers or water biscuits with cottage cheese? Home made crisps or vegetabe crisps? anything there get your mouth watering?
Personally the more you resist them the more desirable they are which means you have an endless will power battle. Can you say put them in the garage or somewhere reasonably inaccessible and then allow yourself on or two to savour at some point in the day?
I've put eyeliner onNot sure about it, I am naturally blonde with blue eyes (its brown BTW, I never wear black its too harsh next to my hair and skin). doesn't help that I am tired and my eyes feel really sore
Just not sure eyeliner is much for daywear
Is it more perhaps the fact that i am not used to wearing the full slap during he day?
Moisturised, exercise was hoovering every inch of DDs bedroom, bed etc as we are having a problem keeping the cat flea free  One room down, several more to go. I would like to have a go at my zumba this afternoon if i can but then again i have a mountain of ironing to tackle.......still thats exercise if I keep doing plies (ballet move) :rotfl:
callisto lovely dress
