Didn't get hair dyed and my sleeping pattern is f'd! I asked OH to wake me up after about 20 minutes last night coz I needed a quick nap. So he wakes me up nearly two hours later....by this time I can't be bothered to dye my hair coz I'm half asleep. I get up to do a drink and stuff but by the time I get back to bed I'm wide awake and he wants to go to sleep. I think it took me 3 hours to get back to sleep, 2 hours before I was meant to be getting up. We didn't go to town, I just went back to sleep after lying awake all night! So now I'm annoyed with him and myself. :mad:Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0

For me. that's not the point fmw. I know I'm never going to be *insert name of stunning superstar of your choice* but that doesn't mean I don't want to make the best of myself. For me!! I also wanted to do something about the things I really loathe about me and number one was feeling like a fat, old bag lady. So that's roughly why I'm here.I've had my hair very short for years and it's not very feminine. I'm trying to grow out the layers but i know it will only be a matter of weeks before it drives me mad and I cut it short again. Any advice on making short hair feminine or growing it would be gratefully recieved.
I used to wear my hair short and layered but have gradually grown it a bit. Unfortunately my hair is fine and thin so any style involves blow-drying and general high maintenance. You need to keep visiting the hairdresser but explain what you're trying to acheive. Mine kept keeping the shape and tidying ends but gradually grew it into a short bob. For ages I still had layers in the top but gradually growing down. So (and this isn't me!!:rotfl:) this is where I'm at.
At least that's what it's like immediately after blow drying and before I go out in the wind!!! It's just long enough to clip back which will be a godsend in the summer. However I'm having it cut on Saturday so may have to lose some of length when dead/dry bits cut off. Although condition is better since I've being doing treatments.

Hello Ladies!
Hope you are all doing well,
feeling a bit frazzled today as half the dept is out with flu- so far haven't succumbed so fingers crossed the flu jab and the elderberry are working...does mean things have been a little hectic though!
managed to do a deep conditioning hot oil treatment on my hair last night so it's looking nice and shiny, had to plait it today though with the crazy winds howling away!
Also actually found time to put some eyeshadow on which I don't normally during the day- find it quite hard to find good shades for daytime, going out is fine I love my bright eyeshadows that I started wearing this summer, but not quite right for work:eek: trouble is with being dark skinned ( sort of a caramel/cinnamon if my foundation labels are to be believed!) the nude colours don't really do anything and the darker shades are just too dark for daytime..will have a hunt around!
no exercise for me though, will give myself a kick next week, I'm just feeling tired and achy by the time I get home at the mo- probably to be expected during busy season and I suppose going back to work after a few days of peace and relaxing...
Findingmyway we all have days like that, but the whole point of this is starting to feel good about ourselves and realising how important it is to look after yourself- you deserve the time and attention that you would give to others no? and as for turning heads? A great smile and a happy attitude seem to be the thing that people notice most- you might look at someone and think "what a great figure" or whatever, but I bet that more often that not it's the person who seems confident and happy that you notice! I am firmly of the opinion that it's the people who are happy in themselves that are the most attractive, keep at it hun you will start to feel better and it will show as I'm sure many of the ladies on here will agree.
PHMS- sounds like you are making a great start- yay on the new clothes- I do that too with sizes, did buy a few bits a matalan but had to take them back as they were too big:D I'm having a real mare with Jeans at the moment just can't find a pair that fit well seems I'm somewhere between sizes or all the sizes are crazy I have 16's that are slightly tight and 14's that fall off after a few mins of wearing...and I don't ever think I'll find a pair that are small enough around my waist but fit my hips...sigh...ah well will still feel amazing to wear a size 12 again hopefully by the summer!
Adelight- Mr Motivator? oooh scary images in my head now!You just reminded me of a client who was so anxious to get his documents in to me in time he cycled all the way here from another town to hand deliver- took him about 1 1/2 hours and he turned up in this black head to toe leotard cycling thing....that hid NOTHING I didn't know where to look!:rotfl::o you layers do sound lovely and comfy though! have you any ideas of what you might wear tomorrow? I am trying to do what my Mum did when I was small- I think she still does actually- when doing jobs round the house cleaning etc she had a drawer of "house" stuff that she didn't mind getting dirty/messy etc but then would change out of that into something a little nicer afterwards- meant she didn't spend all day in the shabby stuff- I don't mean that she got dolled up around the house or anything, just changed into her nicer tops/skirts...
LW hugs to you! sounds like it may well be the change in meds making you feel off, and I'm sure I've cried over sillier things than that plenty of times, well done on managing to brush you hair must be really frustrating at times, I do remember feeling so frustrated and teary all the time when I was at my worst, DH was patient but was so hard to feel so crap all the time! Still think that every little thing you can do makes a difference though so hang in there!
EvilSquid ( I do love that name!) you are so right about the dresses, and having one made that actually matches what you want is amazing ( I won't dwell on my wedding dress disaster...let's just say I was dissapointed when the pink champagne explosion missed it)
Joan- sounds like you were busy today- I would ignore the wind effect and count all that work as fabbing for the day! Re the short hair, I've always had long, but have a gorgeous friend who often crops it short and grows it out again- what she seems to do when she's growing it out is use hair bands and scarves to make it a little more interesting, also one look that always looks lovely on her is she will wear a thin hair band, back comb the back section of her hair so it has some height and then pin it all back at the ends- sort of like an up do but she just twists and pins all the little sections...hmm hard to describe will see if I can find some pics...
Elfen- your day sounds good, do you tend to mediate to music or anything? I've never really managed it, unless you count lying down and listening to albums:o which is a guilty pleasure of mine!
Lizzie- sorry to hear about your stressful time ((hugs)) sending lots of positive vibes your way!
Bratz- poor you! hope you've dried out a bit! I do remember that horrid feeling of being soaked through at work when I used to be able to walk in- it was a 45-60min walk and a did get drenched a few times- and the way the wet hems slap away at you! yuk! here's hoping the rest of your day improves! it was wet and wild here this morning but now we've got lots of sun...still windy though...I don't think that this skirt was the wisest choice on a windy day!:o
Hewie- that sucks with the crosstrainer! I had that with my one two, but they replaced 3 times and it broke so in the end I just asked for my money back- there should be a fair bit of exercise equipment on offer in the supermarkets at the mo though or could you borrow an exercise DVD from the library?
Phew! hard to keep up at the moment- if I've missed anyone, please don't be offended, I have read and enjoyed your posts, just ran out of time!
wishing you all a fabulous day!

mrswoolfe that made me laugh so much!!! reminds me of that guy from Spaced who was always on the bike. I think I will wear boots, jeans and a watch for a change.
What about an illuminator or a shimmery eye shadow that will just make your eyes look bright and sparkly not full on glitter? Or coloured eyeliner?
LL my green smoothie was 1 big banana, two handfuls spinach, handful kale, 6 frozen strawberries, 1/2 grapefruit and some water blended. It made about a pint and was quite delicious- couldn't taste the greens at all
Another use for bicarb is for cystitis, 1tsp mixed in a glass of water 3 times a day is virtually as good as the sachets (providing you have no heart problems).
((hugs)) to everyone that's feeling a bit naff, sore or demotivated. Pick your fave fabbing task or pick me up and do that for half an hour then treat it like a new day. Paint your nails, have a cuppa, watch some Gok, then get on with the day.
Remember that it's positive, friendly, happy people that make the best impressions and we remember. So just be happy and noone will notice that you're wearing a muddy tent and your hair is dripping greaseLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
i hope everyone feeling a bit down feels better soon!
i feel (and look) a lot less like death today. yesterday my skin looked awful but i look marginally more alive today.
had a bath and now i feel marginally ready to walk back into my old gym. hoping they don't recognise me! :eek:0 -

Ladies, drum roll please, and don't all faint - I've actually used one of the very large stash of freebie sachets of moisturiser I have sitting in a box on the chest of drawers!!:eek:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

back again!
Adelight- I know it was awful! so weird as he is actually "someone important" in a big IT firm, normally see him in posh suits etc...ah well made us all giggle!
Maman- was it you asking about the cuticle oil? I have used it in the past, results ok, but recently I've been using one of the cheapy bio-oil copies and massaging this into to my cuticles and nails on my hands through the day as the cold weather + ridiculous heating set up had been making them dry and flaky- have to say I've noticed a real improvement in the condition so may be worth a try?
LL- the facelift facemask sounds good may have to give it a try tonight, though DH may be slightly dissapointed to see gram flour being used for a face mask rather than baaji's or doubles lol!
...hmmm I wonder if it would work with some of the tumeric mask powder added in too? You know me always wanting to multi-task lol!
Keeping with the B's another use for bi-carb is teeth whitening- it's the main ingredient in all of the expensive teeth whitening toothpastes.
LW Woo Hoo! Moisturiser barrier broken!:T  Honestly though, I can only imagine how hard it must be to get used to, I know my troubles are insignificant in comparision and not really the same thing, but I found that I felt much better about a lot of things once I felt more in control for me that was realising that I could just accept all the meds and let everyone else tell me what to do, or go out and research how I can help myself- granted things are very different for you but perhaps there are things/methods out there that would make life easier? You may know it already but there is a fantastic website : http://www.butyoudontlooksick.com/
it really helped me when I first got ill (2 yrs before the bp and diabetes I had severe kidney problems leading to 2 yrs of problems and things they couldn't diagnose, septecemia, auto-immune symptoms etc) like I said, you might know it already but if not there is an incredible amout of advice. help and support...
I think tonight will be a chilled out one, facelift face mask, may try and do a bit of stretching and cycling and the usual day to day routines and then a big bowl of scrummy butternut squash spicy soup, very :money: as made entirely from xmas meal left- overs ( it was frozen down I haven't just kept it all since:D)
bye for now!

Afternoon ladies!
Hope we're all well - will have a read through in a minute.
Today has been an unexpected good day - my gay best friend in work said this morning "your face looks nice have you done something different?", a few people commented on my top (a red patterned one I haven't worn to work before) and the best of all........ the scales say I've lost 4lbs:j:j:j (after the first full week back on SW). Hurrah!
My stomach muscles are aching a bit after a set of crunches I did in a moment of madness whilst watching telly last night too. Will try to do some more tonight.
Just back from walking the dog in this lovely weather we're having -- it was strangely enjoyable too - must be in a good mood
I'm still keeping up the face regime but forgot the handcream last night and tonight I'll have a bath and finally do the body scrub (been threatening this all week). I also need to write a shopping list for the weekend - trying to economise and eat healthily, so a visit to ALDI and the greengrocers on Saturday is in order.
Oh, one more thing, the bumpf from Spice UK arrived today - will spend a bit of time reading it and maybe building up the courage to join.
The women at work are also starting a "for fun" netball team (the men play football every Friday after school) so have decided to join them and emailed to say I would so I can't back out now. Will probably be one of the oldest but hey ho - it'll be a laugh (hopefully).0
