Hi all,
Joan - I love your siggyIt is interesting how a lot of problems can be down to various deficiencies - I don't have anything as bad as arthritis-type symtoms but have problems with muscle/joint stiffness, poor circulation etc and it has crossed my mind I may be low on something.
Alikay - welcome :j I used to very much the same - I would have loads of nice things in the drawers that I was 'saving for best' and yet I hardly ever went out so they never got worn. Now I try and bring them out more often, try and dress a bit smarter - you can always dress things down a little if you're going somewhere casual - eg I'll wear a more dressy top but with jeans or over a fitted jumper in this weather. Sounds like you're making a great start anyway!
Mrs W - it is crazy how busy we are on here at the momentAm very impressed with your list of achievements and am sure you will be making dents in the new plan soon - the girlie group sounds like a great idea.
LL - I have been mulling it all day and I think you're right. While it might be nice to have a regular bit of extra money coming in then it is going to be taking up time that I could spend on trying to make money in ways that let me more independent. I have worked out that at the moment my wage alone should just about cover all the bills so I'm going to transfer my tax credits to another account to keep it separate and if I can manage without that for 'essentials' it will be my play around with money to try and use for things like the matched betting (which I have been very lax with lately and must get back into). It will indeed be fab when the book gets publishedalthough even looking at it in the most positive of lights is going to take at least another few months to finish the 1st draft and then rewriting/editing etc before sending it off and waiting some more months to hear back - so must think of a backup/in the meantime plan I think
Rummer - what a lovely post. it's great to see how many positive changes you've managed already - will be fab in no time
WW - that's awful - 8 days  I used to be really awful at taking it off. Since I can still be a little lazy sometimes I now keep a pack of cleansing wipes on my bedside table - I can see them when I'm going to bed so if I've forgotten to remove my make up just scrub quickly with one of those. Not as good as a proper routine but better then going to bed with a full face on
Liking the idea of Fashion Friday! Was out tonight for a meal on a mystery shop, really horrible weather and my hair has been blown into a mess all day so just had in a quick side plait but wore a Next beaded black and white tunic over a purple turtleneck with my xmas necklace on top and did some light make-up (didn't want to risk too much in case it got rained half way down my face :rotfl:) Quite a good night and Mamma Mia on the tv when I got in so chilled to that for a bit.0 -

Hi ALL, I'm loving the thread but I'm really struggling to keep up with everyone. It's a bit like when you get home form a party and realise you didn't manage to speak to someone. Please don't anyone be offended or feel ignored.:)
evilsquid I was horrified at the job description for £0, surely they can't all be the offspring of the government's Eton Mess!! I don't want to get all political but I'm so angry about the haves and have-nots in society and the widening gap between them. And breathe....
Sorry about your dress problems callisto, any ideas what the 'other women' are wearing? I still think it's a lovely dress and hope you keep it. Maybe she wants something a bit more 'Ascot' like? Sort of satiny, prom dress? Hopefully you'll get something cheapish in the sales tomorrow?
bratz, loved the idea of the 'beaky' in-laws.:)
On the nail varnish front, I'm not much good at keeping dark nail varnish on either. I tend to do what liz-paul said and go for clear or a really pale pink. For special occasions I have an American polish at the nailshop, that seems to last well. At the moment I'm wearing my nails very natural. I bought a sort of buffing kit (Christmas present to myself) which really polishes up nails and I've got a white pencil I put under the tips. On the subject of nails, does anyoe know if cuticle oil is anything special? While my fingernails are really long and healthy my toenails are horrible. I wondered if cuticle oil would help them grow. Then I wondered whether Bio Oil or something else would work. Any ideas? Now onto feet (I do have a logical mind really;)). When I had problems with my feet (all sorted now except for a few nails), the dermatologist suggested I put on moisturising cream (E45 or similar) and wrap them in cling film and then put socks on before going to bed. I found that it moved about (maybe I just have carp clingfilm?) so I used to put the plastic bags you get in supermarkets (not carrier bags, the f&v ones) over my feet, then socks. It does work!
Well done on signing up for the half marathon sparkles. I have my WI tomorrow (first for 3 weeks) and if I could manage just 2lbs gain I'd be delighted. :T
I think Fashion Friday's a great idea. I'll definitely make an effort. Not a great deal done here today. I did shower & slather, hair, make up, perfume but that was about all. Unless you count buying a HUGE bag of veg from Aldi??:rotfl:

Money is a bit like rabbits. You have to put it in a safe place where it can breed.
Joan - I was very interested in your comment about joint pain and a possible link with potassium deficiency. I may look into that.
On my to do list this week is to make an appt with GP - I'm pretty sure that the chest pains are simply stress attacks but I suppose I ought to get it checked out.
Meant to say to Sparkles - you go girl - Team Solstice will be there cheering you on.
Off to bed now - absolutely shattered. G'night all x
Tomorrow some more "B"s........0 -
Morning all
Didnt manage to get on the cross trainer, well I tried but the damn thing broke, only got it in November, so have arranged for it to be replaced, but they cant deliver the new one til 1st Feb!! Have to find some other form of exercise that I can do in the house, also something light as my back is still playing up.
Oh well best intentions and all that.
Trying to eat well and avoid the xmas food that is left.
Have a good day everyone.Chiari Brain Malformation - decompression survivor

maman - if you like the idea of the beaky in-laws you can certainly have them
evilsquid - your dress sounds lovelyI point blank refused the church, we're having the ceremony in the same place as the reception, but my OH wants a Christian ceremony as it pleases his family, and he was brought up that way and is on the fence about whether he is or not so it still means something to him. We're going to have a handfasting after that, in August I'm thinking, with just close friends at it so I get my way too
Just arrived in work and completely soaked - it's lashing here and the wind was blowing the rain right in my face. I walk in to work and home again, 30 mins each way, so plenty of time to soak in all that lovely rain!! I rarely wear jeans these days, always dresses, but I was feeling miserable with the cold and decided jeans would be warmer but they're soaked from the knee down, I can actually wring them out.
I did however, put makeup on so I don't look miserable and even put lotion on my feet this morning. Probably all washed off now though lolcarpe diem

Hi all,
Very stressfull day yesterday re vet visit with my canine companion. (see pet board. sorry can't do links:o). Looks like my year hasn't started on agood note. Am trying to keep positive but its a worry.
LL- re benefits. This is the situation I find myself in, where ever I turn in an effort to help get off benefits they make it so hard, don't help and actually make it feel 10 times worse. I was going to set up an account and try and save a small amount each month to try and give me options but with whats happening with the dog may not be possible just yet. And yet I know of ex drug addicts who have been given free driving lessons courtesy of job centre. Whilst its commendable they are turning their lives around its hardly fair to those of us who choose not to go down that road despite our circumstances.
Joan- Ive had terrible joint pain for a few months and have decided to visit doc about it - may just mention this.
Re fab friday - would love to participate but not sure cleaning dog bed, toilet and kitchen floor goes well with nice clothes.:rotfl:Friday is usually clean up for the weekend day.:)
On the fabbing still- rollerderming

Morning everyone.
Well showed, exfoliated and moisturised today but just feeling a bit miserable and wonder what the point of trying is, im never going to be someone who turns heads, no matter how much fabbing I do.
Just one of those days I suppose, still going out though.
Will catch up on the thread later.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Hi all,
Just got back from the allotment, I'm filthy dirty after trying to rescue all the bits and pieces that have been blown all over the place. But on the positive side the shed is still standing. My hair is an absolute mess, I'd been for my morning swim and the wind has just blow dried it into what can only be described as a thatch. I've had my hair very short for years and it's not very feminine. I'm trying to grow out the layers but i know it will only be a matter of weeks before it drives me mad and I cut it short again. Any advice on making short hair feminine or growing it would be gratefully recieved.
Findingmyway keep trying, it's just the wind it gets everyone in a bad mood.
Bratz81 wish i could fit more dresses into my life, I live in jeans and jeggings. I shall make an effort tomorrow and at least wear one of my
skirts for Fashion Friday.
Have a nice day everyone.Alice came to a fork in the road. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

Darling it's a marathon. not a sprint. Just keep at it and it will pay dividends.
Rememebr the old Aesop fable about the Tortoise and the Hare.
