Looks like I've finally got the broadband back to normal now - phew and sat on the settee with the lappy again.

Feel a tiny bit better today, walked up to town and back to get the mascara exchange done before they ran out and then picked up a skirt for work for £3 in the final reductions of the sale. Only just worth the price, no where near worth £25 full price. I've stuck it in for a wash to see if it hangs better afterwards.

Tomorrow off to visit mum for a pootle around the shops and browse around relaxingly and generally have a very pleasant and relaxing day and see if I can feel better tomorrow and get back my normal bouncing around self.

[FONT=&quot]I am a newbie on the thread, but can I add another ‘U’ = understand how you got to where you are today and where you want to go?

I am so grateful for finding this thread, it is making me think about so many things, not just my appearance as I initially thought, but also my self esteem and how I want to change things.

I know how I got here (far too long in a deteriorating relationship) and all the consequences of that - low self esteem and confidence, little social life, couldn't care less about the way I looked.... I have been divorced three and a half years now, and since then I have completely focused on bringing up my young kids and working damned hard in order to do so. They are great kids, and are doing well, but I am lucky if I get 20mins to myself some days.

So I am spending today, an incredibly rare day off, thinking about where I want to be in 5 years time and how I plan to get there. :D So that's my positive thought for the day.....I have so many ideas so wish me luck!! :o

10,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Good afternoon everyone.

Just a quickie to say hello to Rachelja and to wish you a very warm welcome to our gang.

    Understanding

Thanks for that one - yes I've got a bit sidetracked this week and forget to post the rest of my "U"s - that's a great one.

You are so right Rachel - understanding ourselves and how we got to where we are to day is a very good positive step.

As we've often discussed on here we didn't become Frumps overnight - understanding the steps that led to Frumpdom is the key to getting ourselves out of the Frump mindset and on the road to Fabdom. ;)

And again you are right Rachel - by starting with our appearance - even something just as simple as the 10 minute a day routine - does get us thinking a little deeper about our lives, what we want, where we want to be and how we are going to get there.

I'm often quite bemused by how this thread develops sometimes - we start delving into the realms of psychology and philosophy and there seems to be no stopping us.:rotfl:

When we put our minds to it we can change anything - our homes, our finances, our jobs, our relationships, our lives - it's not just about losing weight and applying a bit of lippy.

Small steps - start with the perfume and take it from there.

As Bitsy put it at the start of this thread -

Let's make 2012 the year we kick A**:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Not much ar*e kicking going on here today:o
Have woken up to a streaming cold and belting headache:mad:
Still, in the spirit of being a female that just gets on with it (like we do) I have taken the dog to the park, popped to the library, done the shopping and cleaned downstairs (I'm waiting for my second wind to tackle upstairs). Now its time for a sit down - still waiting for the cold and flu tablets to kick in.

I'm supposed to be going out tonight but will give it a few hours to see how I feel before making the decision.
I did my hair and make up this morning but the make up seems to have slid off into make up oblivion (where does it go?) and I'm looking decidedly frazzled..

I've just finished reading Sister by Rosalind Lupton and I have to say it was without doubt THE most depressing book I've ever read! Need a good murder mystery to get back to normal - oh well, I guess I'm not going to like everything. Kept ploughing through convinced that it was going to get easier but no, a total downer all the way through:(. I've picked up three more from the library today that were on the Richard and Judy Bookclub list so will see how they go.

Just for anyone that's interested, if you have Sky a new series of plays with some really good actors is starting on Sky Arts on Thursday at 9pm - think its called Playhouse Presents... Looks quite good and a change from American drama.

Right, time for some lunch and a rest before a spot more cleaning to get the house straight (not that it really looks any different after its done, but I know its been done:rotfl:).

Thanks for this, I had seen the trailers and thought it looked good but didn't think I had this channel, but your post prompted me to look. It turns out I also have other channels I thought I didn't have too like the music and documentaries. Wonder how that happened

Dragged myself round Asda Living on the way back from the second dog walk and picked up a pack of knickers to try (£4.50 so not a disaster if I don't like them too much) and a top for the summer to go with white linen trousers. Its a bronze colour with little subtle sequins on it - will look nice with a tan (I'm dark haired with olive skin) and I can wear a proper bra with it (sound like my mum!). I have nice new bronze sandal/flip flop things I bought last year but have never worn so they'll match nicely.

I'm toying with the idea of going to Cyprus for a week with the Spice lot on a "chill out" holiday in August but am a bit apprehensive about a full week away with people I don't know (yet). I desperately need a week in the sun but have no-one to go with so its an option - what do others think? Should I just be brave and go for it? My mum is all for it and is offering a bit of dosh towards it (bless her). I haven't had a Spice event that I haven't enjoyed yet but a whole week is a different matter..... Advice please!:o

Welshwoofer if you go away what's the requirement for having time to do your own thing? I say go for it, you'll not know what's its like until you try it. I am sure over the week you would find time for yourself if need be.

Maman have a lovely holiday :)

    Rachelja welcome :D

So I spent nearly 4 hours clothes shopping  self esteem and body image in tatters as usual but I did get a couple of scarves for accessories, coupe of pairs of ballet pumps (in anticipation of better weather ;)) and some v necked t shirts. Can say anything else really grabbed me......apart from gorgeous maxi dresses in M and S http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/search?field-keywords=maxi+dress&viewID=results&intid=gnav_search&node=42966030#ie=UTF8&node=42966030&useParentAsinsInResult=false&sort=relevancerank&keywords=maxi%20dress&page=1&forceNoKeyword=false&size=12

Lots of lovely ones here and 20% til Monday :D

Guess where I am headed tomorrow ;) it's nice to see maxi dresses that aren't shoestring straps. I can't wear that type due to my lovely swimmers shoulders

Go and buy it, consider it an investment should you go on Holiday ;) don't forget to check out the discount board for any codes too :money:

Pleased to report I feel a lot better today at long last and well on the road to being back to normal.

Collected the 2 very genrously cut size 10 skirts today for work - very generously cut indeed, more like a 12 really. Good price though at £7.60 each and will do at that price for work and just working out what goes with them for a very classic/boring work look. The better longer, shorter stuff can stay out of work for me!

Tomorrow is the day to see if I can get in a size 8 skirt. Don't think I will but ordered them due to the price and will see if these are as generously cut or not. If I do I'll drop down with shock and then quickly recover when I remember how the sizes change so much these days and between the shops too! No need to worry about sizes, more about how you feel. No weight loss for the last 4mths - weight has stayed the same as planned however a little tiny bit of inchloss has happened.

Just goes to show how far you can come over a year as I have. Take it slowly and keep at it and you get there and keep at it some more.
