Afternoon all!
LW - I know what its like to not get enough sleep - miserable isn't it? I hope you find a solution soon.
Evil and Pod- grrrr to the nasty job people:mad: Its an impossible situation sometimes isn't it? We all need cash and the only way is to work, a job, any job, is probably better than none?
LL - new knickers are on the agenda for this weekend - life in the fast lane again :rotfl:Rock and roll (in sensible cotton pants:p)!
Well, its day 6 and still fag free:T:T Have just had a bag of crisps though but after an hour long walk so hopefully not too much damage done. To be honest I don't care at teh moment - all my efforts are directed towards not smoking and food is a secondary worry.
The new sofas arrive tomorrow (hopefully!) and so in about 30 mins the old ones are going to their new home next door - my neighbour is giving me a bit of cash for them too so that will go straight into the bank in the account put aside for paying for the new ones when the "buy now pay in Jan" thing kicks in (have 6 months to get the cash together and am about a quarter of the way there already, don't want to do the credit thing and so will pay them off as soon as the time comes).
So from 7ish I'll be sitting on the floor:rotfl:. I'll debunk to the conservatory where there's another sofa and telly or I may even go to the pub for an hour - one of the Spice groups are meeting tonight for an informal social if I feel up to it or can be bothered. Might just have a long bath and a faff about instead.
Its Fab Friday tomorrow and I've bought my yr 11 group some cakes and sweeties for being really good all week doing really boring revision - we'll have a "feel good about physics friday" instead! Who am I trying to kid:p0 -

LL panic not re my meds; they are reviewed every 6 months, last review was on April 21st.
Now, I'm hopefully only going to say this once - I will die before I allow my home to be invaded by strangers!
I must away now; I have pizza to serve, and a guest to prepare for; even having known the chap for a decade, I get angsty if I know he's coming over - think how much worse I'd be with someone I'd never clapped eyes on before! If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

I'm sorry to hear that you are still feeling so rotten. It's been a long time now. Hope you feel better soon.
I feel a little better today - not too much when I do things but better than the last week so that's a good step towards getting back to normal.
I dragged myself around the supermarket today to do the weekly shop and then a little bit of online shopping to cheer myself up and get some bargainous summer skirts in the M+S sale for home and work as I don't have much left now that fit well after the weight loss over the last year. Most are far too big and baggy.
Hoping tomorrow continues and on the road to recovery to normality. Hoping I feel up to a longer walk than have done all week and can make it up to the mascara exchange if there's any left that is.
Discovered I have a missing £5 clubcard voucher to go towards my avios airmiles fund for next year - hoping to get enough for a holiday for a city break and a long haul too so on the look out for some more bonus point deals.
Not much else to report apart from did a bit of cleaning today which nearly wiped me out, and will attempt a bit more tomorrow.final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
LW - hope the pizza evening went well? I'm a bit like you, I don't like other people in my house, to me its a personal space and my little sanctuary. I'm always glad to see visitors go - that sounds awful doesn't it:o
Sparkles- good to hear that you're a teeny bit better. What's this mascara exchange all about? I could do with a new one. Is it clubcard voucher time again? I haven't had mine yet, not that I'll have many this time with a lot of my shopping being swapped to Aldi these days.
Well, the sofas have gone next door and I'm sitting on the floor. I'm off to bed in an hour so its not too bad. I must say that I was shocked by the state of my neighbour's house - it was a real state, all grubby and shabby. Not just a bit tired but downright dirty!:eek: And she's home all day, doesn't work and has 2 grown up kids so no excuse (no depression or anything like that, has her hair done every week, new clothes etc)- there's no carpet on the stairs, ripped lino through downstairs, dirty scuffed walls (not just a little bit) and no curtains on some of the windows - a real state. She's not short of money either - her ex-husband pays the mortgage and bills and she choses not to work. My little house looks like a palace in comparison and I know in reality its nothing special, just clean and tidy.
Oooh I sound like a right cow but there's no excuse for dirtiness - clutter or looking lived in is ok as long as its clean underneath but this wasn't.
Made me see her in a whole different light.
Anyway, off to watch recorded Corrie now..... hope those struggling with sleep get some kip tonight. xxx0 -

No you don't sound like a right cow. I couldn't agree more. If you are ill or depressed then fair enough. However if you are reasonably fit and well then there's no excuse. Homely clutter is one thing but dirt and filth .......eugh.
Soap and water may not be completely free but it doesn't cost that much. A bit of elbow grease, a pail of hot water and a squirt of washing up liquid is all it takes.
I worked in housing as you know and as my wise old boss once said - it's not the buildings that create slums it's the people who dwell in them. My parents may have been hard up and we may have lived in a council house but it was spotless.
I also have a thing about smells. I hate houses that smell stale and fusty - which is why I won't have carpets. Once a rug gets too manky out it goes. I fling open the windows every morning - come rain, hail or shine.
WW - your new lounge sounds lovely. I thought of you the other day when I was shopping for new bits and bobs for my sitting room revamp.
My sofas are dark brown leather, the walls and curtains are cream, the floor is solid beech, the occasional furniture is dark hardwoods, there are dark brown rattan baskets - so all in all it has a rather masculine "colonial" feel. The new rug is a neutral mink colour.
So overall it is a very neutral space and my winter look i.e. cushions, throws, flowers, objets d'art etc have been plums/deep orange etc. which warm it up nicely.
I am not changing anything major but giving it a spring summer revamp. Anyway I thought of you the other day in Dunhelm because I noticed lots of lovely duck egg blue accessories. I remembered that was what you had chosen and I thought it would look lovely against the brown/cream backdrop.
However, I have gone for green, some soft sagey greens, some ferny greens and just a dash of that bright acid green that is around.
I've have now chosen some artworks. I've done it a bit back to front because I had a load of of mismatched frames - you've guessed it - charity shop bargains. I've painted them cream so that they all match - different shade from the walls so that they stand out but aren't too obtrusive.
I also use clip frames because again I like the frames to be unobtrusive so that they don't distract from the artwork.
The artworks have been chosen to fit the frames and are mainly prints and posters of modern abstract art and post impressionists - oooh get me with my "art connoisseur (sp??) hat on:rotfl:.
Some Van Gogh prints and a couple of Matise's and a new artist I found called Charlie Bobo. I've also dug out an original goache of John & Yoko that I bought in St Ives over 30 years ago from a local artist for £10 and a huge print by Picasso printed onto silky fabric that I bought in Barcelona for the princely sum of 3Euros. I've just stretched the fabric onto some MDF. Loads of bright blues, reds and purples to add lots of zingy colour to the plain walls.
Over the weekend I'm going to dig out some of DS2's photos to make a collage. He's done some lovely ones of cobwebs, some of hoar frost on branches, some close ups of flowers in bloom.
I will be putting most of the ornaments etc away and will replace them with lots of green plants and flowers.
My revamp will come in easily at less than £100. I will try and do some before and after piccies.
Popped into the disability shop today to find out a bit more about the gizmo for the wheelchair. Will ring a couple of places tomorrow and then place my order. Will keep you in the loop with that one.
Anyway time to load the washing machine and dishwasher (I always do these on the economy tariff) then settle down with my hot milk whilst I watch the last of Question Time and This Week.
I do love a bit of political "argy-bargy".
Don't forget Fab Friday tomorrow.0 -

WW - Meant to say.
Wow. You sound like a really fab teacher.
If I had had someone like you I might have learned a bit about physics - but then my maths were so hopeless I would have still failed miserably. :rotfl:
Having a wakeful night.
Had a massive stress attack earlier tonight - right out of the blue and for no apparent reason. It scared my poor DS2 half to death, he wanted to send for the medics.
I haven't had one for months - just goes to show doesn't it - how stress takes it's toll - often without our even knowing it.
I'm fine now - my chest wall and between my shoulder blades are a bit sore - like I've been kicked by a mule. :rotfl:
Going to make myself a herbal tea and read in bed for a while.
Bye for now.0 -
LL sorry to hear about your stress attack
hope you feel better this morning, take it easy xxx

Morning all,
LW - have even more sympathy now, as I said am a night person too, which I think be definition means we are NOT morning people, the thought of having to wake up for 5.15am literally makes me shudder. Do it on odd occasions for things like traffic surveys and hate it! Think Bitsy's theory is interesting, definately worth looking into some more, to tie in with that no you have thick curtains in the bedroom, since that's affected by light if it's been worse over the last few months then might be related to the lighter nights/morning if the curtains are getting it in? Ooh and Shamanic journeying sounds fascinating
evilsquid - am so sorry about the job hun, how rude of them not to even let you know. That was something that really annoyed me about job-hunting, I would say about 80% of the ones I applied for, or even interviewed for, would just not bother letting me know I didn't get it. I appreciate it's not a nice thing to have to do, but even a short email so people at least know one way or the other and aren't constantly waiting for the phone/post/email in case there's news  Hope something turns up for you soon x
ww - completely agree with LL, you sound like a fab teacher, I can't remember any of mine ever bringing in cakes!
Sparkles - glad you're feeling a little better, try and take it easy until you're recovered. Is it the Debenhams mascara exchange? Got one on the last one and has nearly run out so might be worth a visit to restock
LL - hope you're feeling a bit better today hun, just shows how it can creep up on you I guessagree with Bitsy, try and take it easy today x
Anyways, was doing a band shoot last night. Was a group of older guys in a classic rock band and they had me in stitches most of the way throughHope the piccies turn out well for them. They were also asking me if I was free for their next gigs and if they like these photos are looking at booking me for those as a paid job, woot! The place we were at was very strange, it's part of a college but has gardens and flats outside and they were just full of rabbits - had to do a double take when I walked past the first time but they were hopping round everywhere with everyone just walking past and not even looking!
Work-wise, got called in with the bosses yesterday to ask if I was 'accepting' the new pay. Said I needed to have a think and go through my budget properly so will let them know on Monday. Think they were rather expecting me to just smile and nod. I know it's not really their fault, business is awful for them at the moment and they are just trying to stay afloat but really don't think I will manage on the reduced wage they are offering. Tbh I really need to sit down and go through the budget, think about my options, talk to OH etc but haven't had 2 mins to myself all week and one of us seems to be out constantly so am struggling to do that.
Have also added my website to my profile if anyone would like a nosey - comments welcome! Am still building it up but looks a bit better now I think0 -
 ladies.......seems like the weather is linked with the fabbing...good days and bad, huh?
I keep up with you all daily, and hope that all with problems, whatever area of life they are in, discover or can find solutions to their troubles soonWelshWoofer wrote: »What's this mascara exchange all about? I could do with a new one.
