    Blue skies here too:D

Going to have a nice little potter in the garden, the front is not too bad but the back is choked with weeds - it's just been too blimmin wet and cold to venture out there.

Have bought some geraniums and some daisy things so going to get those in pots.

Not going to see OH till about 4-00 so can spend time in the garden - maybe lunch al fresco if it's warm enough, then a nice soak in the bath later and "glam up" for this evening.

Going to take some painkillers and go for a walk - I need to start somewhere. Walking hurts my back but I need to walk to loosen and strengthen my back muscles. I need to break the vicious circle so just a short walk to the newsagents as a starter. I've been meaning to do this for some time but the weather has just been so off-putting.

WW is it today you start your non-smoking campaign. Good luck - try to do nice things to stop you getting bored and tempted.

Fancy some ironing to keep your hands occupied??:rotfl: I have a nice pile here if you're interested.:D

    Have a nice day, y'all .

Yes today is the day - and I'm rubbish at ironing and only do the bare minimum, sorry!

Already been for an hour long walk along the canal with the dog to try to break the morning ciggie cycle. It was lovely, quite warm and lots of joggers and dog walkers about - the weather makes people friendlier too - everyone said hello or smiled, just little things like that go a long way don't they?

Have decided that I'm going to pop to do all of the usual weekend jobs in a minute and then clean the house and then go to see the new Mel Gibson film (can't smoke in the cinema!). I'm happy to do this alone these days (how things have changed!) and it will break up the day and not cost a fortune if I book online (10% off) and take my own drink and sweeties:o.

    Hello everybody,

Since my last post, my attempts regarding "frump to fab" seem very inconsistent. Is this common for this thread?

Having backache has involved a big change in routine but I am learning what I miss ("fab") and what keeps me "unfab". "Fabbing-wise", I have been watching the hoarding programmes and am progressing with my own decluttering. Being indoors has meant I am pleased to be using up previously obtained groceries, setting aside milk that somebody brought home for me. Today, I took some painkillers and went out briefly on the bicycle; a bit too soon yet. Also, had a look in the wardrobe and assessed my clothes but it still seems chilly to wear the nicest. Or, I probably will not fit into them yet, or never?

Difficulty in problem solving is a latest consideration as this tends to lead to feeling/behaving "frumpy" and "unfab".

Anyway, good luck with your progress/day etc.

    Yes.

But that's life. Just remember the Elephant - one bite at a time.

Nurse your back and take it gently.

If you fall by the wayside - which you will - we all do - just put it behind you and start again. However many times it takes.

If you keep going long enough you will get there in the end.

    Remember - it's a marathon not a sprint. :)

Well done with the decluttering. I've been watching some of those programmes. Now I'm not bad but I feel myself wincing sometimes when I hear the reasons they give for not parting with stuff because I've used the same excuses myself.

This time I'm being utterly ruthless with the clear out. I feel so much better. I can find things, I am getting much more organised, the house is easier to keep clean and my life is less stressful.

    Right off to see OH.

    Good afternoon everyone.

WW - I stopped 13yrs ago in a similar situation to yours and have never ever had one since. Stopped on my own and stuck to it. Will never have another one either and have been through a lot in my life without being tempted. The cycle breaks if you stick to your goal and aims.

Well, unfortunately I'm not doing the half marathon as I'm still not over that nasty virus. Listened to myself saying if I'm not well enough to run today what on earth am I thinking I can do 13 miles. Anyway, although I'm disappointed I need to recover from this virus first and get back to being healthy and happy instead of feeling run down and unwell, plus have alot of uni work coming up that I need to focus on and can do without being ill while I've got this on.

Fab wise - picked up some clothes today in the sale. All fit lovely and are nice and bright and colourful for summer so very pleased with these. Size 10 is still fitting well despite the slight over eating due to feelign run down over the last couple of weeks. Will get back on track next week and try and get back to a point where I can exercise again.

Have spent an hour in the garden doing a tidy up and digging up dandelions with still lots left to do. Then onto some cleaning and then off out with the dog for an hour or so in the sun.

Tomorrow I'll finish off some cleaning and some more garden tidying before planning a day out on Monday with mum

Sparkles there'll be other marathons - get yourself properly well, and then run in a later one.:o

I am Totally. And. Utterly. Cream. Crackered.

We've been into town to bank my dog-sitting cheque (d'you know, it almost feels fraudulent, taking money for something as wonderful as looking after canine friends?):D, went to B00ts and got 2 x roll-on deodorants, paid for with Points, plus a bottle of mouthwash 25% off with an Advantage coupon (I use a mouthwash that seems to help keep the mouth ulcers at bay);), then a quick spin round W@itrose for a few bits, home to put the chilled stuff away, then over to Stony Stratford market for the F&V run - needed spuds this week, which gives the guys on the stall a laugh cos if I go with Mr LW, I get the sack to carry on my lap.:D After that, we had an Everards Mission Enjoyable to do - it's like a Mystery Shopper thing, we had to visit a designated pub and have drinks and a meal.;)

We've been home for a short while, got all the stuff put away, brought in the washing we left out on the line, stripped the bed (must remember to put the clean linen on before bedtime!!), taken a dose of Oramorph, and I'm now just about done in!

I may actually have overdone it, because I nearly fell coming through the lounge door:eek: - so I think I'd better do very little else for the rest of today!

Lizzie - if you are thinking that at some point you want to be independent and start a new life on your own then maybe you need to start "backing off a little" - let him start taking more responsibility for himself instead of you running around doing everything for him. [/QUOTE

Yes am definately thinking along those lines and have been for a while now, unfortunately in order to make the atmosphere a bit less tense for the kids I tend to just get on with it rather than back off but am thinking this time I might just leave it to him. Yes he's got health problems but so have I but I don't have the luxury of sitting back and letting someone else take the strain. anyway that's not how I work, I am quite independent. If he was really incapable either physically or mentally then fine but I think you're right LL he knows I'll do it for him. In fact it doesn't really make much difference to me whether he wins this appeal or not because I need to find work in the near future, and will be called into jobcentre at some point whatever happens. I would have been further forward with this if my shoulder and finger hadn't happened but atm really don't think turning up for an interview with restricted movement in both areas would get me a job. :( And no I don't think you went too far LL you just confirm what I already know:(
    Hope your OH is well.

Bitsy Beans Let me get this right? he was bumping his gums because he not only had to pay for his own meal but that of his younger sons? How old is this child? I am not sure how old your children are.

Yes that's right. He's 15, when it was time to pay even he put some of his spending money on the table as a contribution for his meal but I told him to put it away. DD is 12. The other are all in their 20's and have homes and jobs of their own.

If memory serves Lizzie if you had the means to you would have left yes? With regards to leaving have you enquired about going on a housing list etc?
    Y
es I have my name on the housing list but only havethe bare minimum number of points, so when I bid all those with more points get priority over me. :( Have also looked at private rent but as I would at least at first be on JSA, and I have the dog, it's difficult to find anywhere suitable. Also my elderly parents live close by atm so it would really be better for me to stay but he has said he won't leave in the past when I've broached the subject. The village I live in only has a few council properties so chances are I wouldn't be as close to my parents in a new place and although they are ok atm they're in their eighties.

WelshWoofer Lizzie - I'm sorry to hear that he spolit your birthday meal. He does seem to be self centred and selfish and I'm inclined to think that you'd be better off on your own (with the kids) as he seems to be constantly upsetting you
    .

This describes him exactly. He's the sort of person who brings your mood down if you understand me. Took my daughter to her riding lesson this morning ( again I pay not him- despite having little money I want to try and keep her fortnightly lessons up if I can) and I was chatting to a man watching his GD, when H arrived from parking the car and I could see the disaproval on his face. He didn't speak to either of us and I felt very uncomfortable then knowing he was listening and would pick at anything he overheard. This is just an example of many I could quote and I'm sure this has a lot to do with why I lack confidence. I am now feeling more optimistic though because I'm no longer under the illusion that it's me whose at fault and that's stopped him being able to put me down as much because I know why he's doing it now.

Anyway good luck with the stopping smoking WW, I'm sending you positive vibes to help you along.:) Am gonna have a look on the walking site too, am always looking for a different route for a change.:)

If you want to quote several people, you can do up to three in one post. At the bottom of the post, in the same area as the Thanks button, there's a button with a sort of orange speech-bubble symbol in it. If you click that, you'll see a white tick appear in it, which means it's been picked up to quote. You can do up to three of these at a time. (ie pick up three separate posts to reply to) When you hit Reply, the post you want to quote will automatically appear for you, within Quote boxes. You can cut any bits out that are not relevant to what you want to reply to by highlighting and deleting in the normal way, and then just put your own comments/reply at the end, after the word /QUOTE in square brackets. I hope all that made sense!:D Give it a go!;)

    Morning all!
Another lovely sunny morning:j Just back from taking the dog around the water park - he doesn't know the meaning of Sunday morning lie in! Saw a group of baby Canadian geese (goslings?) and their very protective parents - so fluffy and cute but the parents were quite scary looking - dog was on the lead so no big dramas.

I went to see the new Mel Gibson film yesterday "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" and really enjoyed it - I'm not a Gibson fan as a man (antisemetic nutter) but he has made some good films in the past. This one is about a career criminal who gets caught and locked up in a Mexican prison - I'd recommend it if you fancied something that wasn't sci fi or a kids film - loads of those about at the moment.

Day 2 of the not smoking campaign and all ok so far - have some nicotine gum but have only had 2 pieces so far (in the mornings) - will keep trying. My chest feels a bit "lighter" already (not the boobs:rotfl:).

Today's agenda involves a visit to to tip, cleaning the car, a bit of schoolwork and reading a bit more of Allen Carr's smoking book. I've also started a new novel called Sister by Rosamund Lupton - anyone read it? Its quite good so far.
On the fabbing front its time for the dreaded hair dye so thats a job for later along with a face scrub and the usual bits and bobs.
Hope everyone has a good day. xx

PS LL - did you manage a little walk yesterday?
