Well I'm another year older today! but not deeper in debt.:rotfl:

Wish me luck for tomorrow it's the ESA appeal. Beginning to think it's just not worth the hassle for £28/£32 depending which group he gets put in if we win, as rent and council tax will probably want some of it. All this stress for a few pounds, if it wasn't for making a point I'd be tempted to forget it. -I'll let you know how we go on. Anyway off for a walk with doggy
    See you later. x
    Hoppy Birdday lizzie:beer::D

Good luck and posi-vibes for the appeal; I know what you mean about all that stress for a few £ - this is why, having discussed it with Mr LW, I am not applying for ESA. We both agree, I'm not physically or mentally strong enough to jump through all their hoops. I shall be keeping everything crossable crossed for you.

Hope the walk with the doggy helped de-stress you.:o

Dylan's just been picked up, so the bungalow now seems very empty.:( I need to download all the pics I took of him, and get them put on my photo flash-drive.;)

    happy birthday Lizzie!

im going on a fabbing mission later on, I've got a job interview tomorrow morning and i need to make myself look presentable :rotfl:

Good luck with your interview evilsquid, and it always helps if you're looking your best.

On the flowers discussion, I think Aldi and Lidl do some great flowers. What I like about them is that I can afford to be generous with them. The other week I bought a friend 3 bunches of tulips for £6. It was great giving her an armful! And liles have really come down in price so that florist was really trying to rip you off LL.

    Good Afternoon Everyone

Happy Birthday Lizzie - have a good day and good luck with the appeal tomorrow.

I know exactly what you mean about jumping through hoops for a few measly £'s. The thing is although the amount of benefit is very low and it hardly seems worth the effort and the humiliation some of them are what I call gateway benefits.

In my case ESA is a gateway to council tax benefit. I've also put in a claim for housing benefit too to help with my mortgage payments. Without ESA I would not be eligible for either of these.

I doubt that I will get any help with my mortgage - I'm very sceptical. However, if I was living in rented accommodation, then my rent would be covered by housing benefit as mandatory. Apparently help with mortgages is somewhat in the lap of the Gods, so I'm not holding my breath over that one.

Ah well - it will soon be November and I'll be out of their clutches. Talk about wishing your life away. I just want to be free of it all. My pension is mine, I've paid for it and they can't not pay it, it's not means tested so even if I work they can't stop or reduce it. Obviously I will be taxed but I don't mind that, it's only fair.

Oddly enough just this week I received a letter from an old agency I've worked with before asking if I wanted to go on site this summer to provide holiday cover etc.

I would love to do this but because, at least in the initial stages, it would be on a temporary/casual basis, I can't really go for it.

Some weeks there might not be any work (unlikely), however, having come this far and finally nearly got things sorted out I just can't afford to take the risk of messing everything up by working on an ad hoc basis.

Once my pension kicks in then I shall seriously consider going back on site. I love the work and if I can find the right builder I would be more than happy to work again for a few more years - it can be very lucrative.

Evilsquid - Good luck with your interview tomorrow. Best foot forward.

OH not too good. He kept nodding off in the middle of a conversation - perhaps I was boring him.:rotfl: Hopefully it's just tiredness and not a further blip.

My dear friend and neighbour is now in the final stages of her illness and is expected to die within days. At least she has been allowed home and is surrounded by her family.

So sad - she has been so kind to my OH and she is one of the world's sweetest and gentlest of people.

The last time we were alone together she was telling me that her son had just got engaged and would be getting married next April (2013). "Of course I shan't be there to see it" she said.

    She's just 53.

lizzie happy birthday :j good luck for ESA
    evilsquid good luck
LL ah dear some florists are awful, my old boss would try and give people these hideous droopy crysanth based "bouquets" but me and the other florist would happily open up bunched flowers, throw in a bit of green and wrap it in a nice bit of cellophane and bow for the cost of the flowers + a few quid. It took 30 seconds but the boss thought it was too generous so we had to make sure he didn't see!

God what a day! We are no longer moving into the house, goodbye one big fat lump of stress!!! I'm now filling in the application forms for a nice flat with another EA who has already discussed our situation with the LL and arranged an alternative referencing/deposit set up and we're going to meet the EA and LL and give the forms in saturday morning. How long did that take? Less than an hour!
Right, now, I really need to get on with some more uni work!

LL oh, that is so sad about your friend.:( May her journey be a peaceful one.

I get what you're saying about gateway benefits - thankfully, from that point of view, I don't have to worry - Mr LW is working full time, so our council tax is paid from his wages; and the bungalow is all paid for - I paid off the mortgage on it using my portion of the proceeds when my old house was sold, on the condition that my name got put on the title deeds.

It does annoy me that I can't pay my full share of the day-to-day expenses though, I must admit. Oh well....

Got to go and start dins now.... veggie Lincolnshire sausages, mash (from proper spuds):D and Marmite gravy. Oh, and I shall fry some tomatoes, too.
