Get me and my new found sociability!
Its all down to you all - without your fabbing and support I'd still be sat in watching Corrie on my own instead of organising a jaunt.:T
Ah but you picked up the phone, you wrote the emails etc. - you did it.;)
Well done.
It's not that I'm too shy to start getting out and about. I'm just so damn tired.:rotfl:
I'm sleeping well but I'm constantly exhausted, I fall asleep on the sofa every evening. I've never felt like this in my life - not even when my children were babies and I went over five years without a full nights sleep. Mind you I was younger then.;)
The days when I visit OH really finish me off. Just trying to communicate is so difficult, poor OH finds it draining too. He said to me today "I'm really deteriorating now, aren't I". How on earth do you answer that one:(.
I will be seeing my GP on Thursday so will see if the blood tests reveal anything.
Has anyone tried any kind of tonic? Someone has recommend Pharmatron. Does anyone have any experience of this?
I have today just finished filling in what I'm seriously hoping are the last of the DWP forms - fingers crossed I can now just chill a bit and start doing nice things now that I'm done (at least for the moment) with all that wretched paperwork.
Tomorrow is physiotherapy - Maman - wrote it in full just for you:) - so will make a bit of a day of it, go shopping for that washing machine, a few bits and pieces from Costco and a mooch round the chazza shops. A nice lunch and bit of affordable retail therapy is called for.
Adelight hope you manage to get some sleep.
G'night all x0 -

evilsquid - thanks for the info on PETA and BUAV. The thing about companies not testing but owned by companies who do - well I am refusing to use those companies also. If they're owned by a company that does animal testing, the parent company is profiting from it and can also 'encourage' the smaller company to use ingredients tested on animals if not the actual products. I'm on a bit of a mission on this lol!
LL - I don't see why animal testing is still needed in this day and age either. In China though, by law they HAVE to test on animals to sell products, how insane is that!carpe diem

the chinese law is the cause of most of the recent controversy. i can see why some companies have just caved in because its a huge market to shut yourself out of.
the only prob with cutting out companies owned by those that do is the ones that do own nearly everyone else. there are a few exceptions like Avon now own liz earle but they are still BUAV certified as having nothing to do with it. i tried doing it and just found it ridiculously hard to do, it reduces your choice down to a handful of brands. i think urban decay is pretty much the only cosmetics company atm that def don't test and are still independent of the bigger conglomerates.
also, pretty much every ingredient in use atm has at some point been animal testedthis is why its almost always worded as "product not tested on animals" as in "prescisely this end formulation has not been tested but the individual ingredients most likely were back in the day"

Morning all,
ww - am so impressed with you just going for it and organising things :T As LL says give yourself the credit for being brave and fab
LL - sorry you're struggling a bit hun, hopefully the doctor might be able to help. OH was prescribed a tonic a few years, can't remember what it was called but it they are just over-the-counter ones so if you ask in your local pharmacy they should be able to advise. Tbh I think it was just vitamins/minerals etc in it though and if I remember rightly you take a few of them already? Hope you have a nice day and some retail therapy helps x
Anyway, was choir last night, we're going to Fort William on Friday and stopping overnight, it's for a charity event that have asked us to help out. Should be fun, though am not looking for to the journey, I'm not a good traveller on coaches and last time we went was not well at allAm going to stock up on the travel pills but if anyone has any good travel sickness remedies please let me know! OH is out tonight so hopefully can get caught up on the fabbing. Hope everyone has a good day x

Podperson I suffer horribly with travel sickness; I've found what works best for me is to eat just a couple of plain, dry cream crackers for brekkie the day of the trip, and take a supply of ginger and peppermints to consume during the trip, both of which I find help offset the nausea. Ideally, I'd have a bottle of ginger ale (the sort you put in blended whisky);) and a packet or three of Polo. Also, if you're on a coach, avoid sitting in a seat just above a wheel arch - the bumps along the journey are worse in these seats. HTH.:o
Sorry I was a bit abrupt yesterday - we went out on Monday (the only dry day all week, so we wanted to take Lucy out for a change of scenery) and I was totally wiped out yesterday as a result.:o
WW well done on making the suggestions for outings - enjoy! And let us know how it all goes!
LL No words - I can't put anything together that doesn't seem inadequate and shallow - but have a virtual (((HUG))).
I hope everyone's having a good day; I need to have a spot of lunch, then get Lucy's belongings packed, as she's being picked up this afternoon.:(If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Yes - it is getting difficult to know who to avoid and who owns who - but this is something I feel so strongly about that I'm prepared to go without makeup if I have to and make my own toiletries if necessary.carpe diem

I take travel-eze/ease the night before and it works wonders. I take it the night before because it knocks us out. Also phenergan is good too. Only last night I threw up travelling back from Oxford as it was my Mindfulness Group.
Sending love to Adelight x
ETA- I also use the accupressure bands called Seabands - they work a treat!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Hi Everyone
PP - I second the Seabands too, for drug free relief. DS2 used to get very travel sick but they worked well. Agree avoid sitting near the back of the coach and not over the wheel arch. I also agree anything with ginger or peppermint can also help.
I also take Nelson's travel sick tablets if I need them. They are homeopathic and don't make you feel drowsy. Dry bread or dry toast and/or apple is also supposed to help. Wear lose fitting clothes so that they don't press onto your tummy. Don't read or turn around to talk to anyone behind you.
You'll gather from all that that I don't "do" coaches or buses unless I absolutely cannot avoid them. :rotfl:
Adelight - Thinking of you.
Re the animal testing. That is partly the reason why I try to make as many of my own potions as possible.
No animal testing
Natural ingredients
No nasties or allergic reactions
I know exactly what's in my products
They work out cheaper
OK my home treatments may not be as effective as some of the "Science Based" stuff claims to be, although I have my doubts. My treatments are at least safe and ethical.
TBH I do not for one minute believe all those beauty product claims - all these "cosmeceuticals" and "Botox in a jar"?? Nah, in your dreams ....
I fail to see how a £20 jar of cream can possibly magic away wrinkles. If that were the case then we'd all have the faces of a 20 year old.:rotfl:
The only things that really work with diminishing wrinkles are heavy duty salon treatments - usually electrical like CACI, some laser treatments, industrial strength skin peels, botox, fillers and surgery.
Yes you can soften the skin, improve it's texture, feed it and nourish it, give it a nice healthy glow with regular attention and you can prevent further damage by protecting it from the elements. However, turning back the clock is not quite so easy. So just leave the animals alone and try and use natural products wherever possible.
A rough guide is that the longer the list of ingredients the more likely that animals have been used in testing at some point along the journey.
A simple moisturiser consisting of some kind of vegetable oil and and some aromatherapy oils is not just cheap, its natural and effective and you are unlikely to have an allergic reaction. If you are completely skint then just skip the aromatherapy oils.
Many mediterranean women just use olive oil. Many Asian women just use coconut oil. They are both equally effective.
Re actual make up - the better your skin, the less make up you need. I hardly ever wear foundation, just a little tinted moisturiser in the winter if I need colour. Don't wish to brag but my skin is ok without it.
Anyway - back from Physiotherapist, mentioned to her that I had wondered about trying acupuncture - had it once before to relax my mouth during some pretty intensive dental treatment. Anyway she said sure why not and got the needles out. I'll give you my verdict later. At the moment my back seems to feel easier but I felt rather whoosy immediately afterwards.
Going to finish putting my shopping away and then try and have a nap. I'm fed up with sleeping the evening away. I'd much rather have a 10 minute cat nap in the afternoons, than spend 2 hours sleeping on the sofa in the evening.
Only managed Costco - too tired to mooch round Chazza shops. I did treat myself to a little necklace though. The clinic I attend for my back is part of a large gym complex and there was a lady selling hand made jewellery in the cafe where I had a cup of coffee and a naughty flapjack. So that will be my nice bit of affordable retail therapy. :rotfl:
Hope everyone is ok - LW - easy does it.
Bye for now X0
