    Just a quick question.....

Is anyone doing the Race for Life this year?
Thinking about it- its been a few years since I did one so might be a good way to give myself a reason to do some exercise to build up to the distance.
Perhaps someone else is doing it and we can share the horrors of training for it?

i was thinking about doing it but one of my friends did my local one last year (Heaton Park in Manchester) and she said it was horrific and just hills the entire way round - and she runs half marathons!

I've already got the Great Manchester Run on for the end of may but i do want to do something in june/july purely to make me keep running!

I was thinking of the one in Tatton Park at the end of June - I think its mostly flat and quite nice surroundings. Gives me almost 2 months to get to be able to slowly trot around for 5km if I do it.

tatton park is lovely, haven't been for a few years though!

2 months is more than enough time for a 5km. if you walk bits and run bits its not quite as daunting.

ww i'd love to but i honestly don't know anyone that would do it with me, good luck if you do do it. it will feel goooood :)
i love long distance running, especially trail running and stuff that's more physically challenging. i am dying to do tough mudder which OH would do but i'm just not fit enough for that right now. maybe next year? i would also looove to do a triathlon but that's really just a pipe dream because i suck at riding bikes! i can do a straight line... just about.
podperson eeeek hope it ain't too painful

I'm back with family again, been at the hospital all afternoon. It isn't good, she's a lot worse and she is not going to get better and I think everyone has pretty much accepted it. I'm trying to not get worked up and get on with my uni work, but my brain is just like "oishfkashfkjdshfkjhskj".

I would also add Spiritual whether its a defined belief system or taking time out to seek some inner peace and appreciate the beautiful world we live in. Its very easy to neglect this important part of life - but we need to pay it some attention - helps to give us fab minds and hearts.

    Have a good week everyone.

Yes this is a good one. I agree that it doesn't have to be anything formal or structured - just something that helps take you away from the "material" world and into the realm of the heart/mind/soul.

One of the things that my university experience taught me was that I am quite a natural academic - who'd have thunk it?:rotfl: I left school at 15 and had no idea that a life of the mind could be so appealing.

I do like exploring ideas and concepts and I find that I am becoming increasingly less interested in material things and possessions and more interested in reading, studying, and just learning "stuff".

Adelight - so sorry to hear about your nan, I guess all you can do is be there and try to ensure that she is as comfortable as can be. I am sure she appreciates having her family round her. Try and get some sleep tonight.

WW I'm afraid I'm just not fit enough for the race for life. Maybe next year. I still haven't started walking yet:o It's Catch 22 really, walking would be good for my back but at the moment it feels too tight and painful to walk much.

I have physic on Wednesday so we'll see what happens then. I did my usual exercise today but I think I must have been a bit careless with my posture because I made my back more sore than ever. Idiot woman that I am.

    G'night all x

Sending you a hug, adelight. It's such a difficult time for you and yours.
Maman - champagne? What's going on? Celebrating? (Ignore me if I'm being nosey!

Celebrating my team getting to the Premiership!:D:j:T

Now I'm being nosey (or maybe I mean dense), you often refer to 'physic'. Is that the same as physio or something different?

    'night all.

It's my computer (or me being dense) but the "c' at the end should in fact be an "o" as physiotherapy.

    I don't know how to correct it.:o

Lots of love to you and yours Adelight; Hope she is peaceful xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
