WW and LL you'd be surprised where you can find unattached men.... I picked mine up at the Mensa Dungeons & Dragons group (sadly said group is defunct, since the Dungeon Master passed away:(). Rotten so'n'so fireballed me the first time we met!!:rotfl: So I got my revenge and married him.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Re intimacy - I'd been celibate for a good 5 years when I moved in here; my choice; I couldn't cope with the revolting, disgusting things the ex wanted to do, and he wouldn't accept that some of them inflicted a LOT of pain on me (or possibly that was part of the thrill, I don't know) so we'd slept apart for a l-o-n-g time, with me moving a bookcase in front of my bedroom door at night to prevent him entering. Mr LW had been alone for 12 years; basically, since he got his divorce and moved to MK.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

I did read once that art galleries were a good place to meet people. Must be all those paintings and sculptures of nudes.....
A Damien Hurst pickled shark presumably wouldn't have the same effect:rotfl:0 -

Hi all,
Been a busy week what with hospital appointments for finger, dentist, and welfare rights appointments. I also have an assignment due on monday for the OU. Fingers a bit better still wrapped up and still can only bend it a little but it is improving slowly, shoulder is no better but no worse as I haven't really been able to do the exercises properly due to me other ailments.
adelight-good to hear your nan is responding to you. Sending good wishes to you both.
LW -I know your problem probably isn't the same as mine but physio has helped mine -it's still painful but I have got a better range of movement than before so hopefully it will be of some help to you too:)
We have an appeal date for ESA, not too sure if it will go ahead as DWP have made mistakes on OH medical report and have still not replied to welfare rights about it but at the moment it's set for a couple of weeks time.
LL-re the selling on ebay I already use it to get rid of outgrown and unused stuff but it's a bit hit and miss. Still every little helps. I'm always on the lookout for ways of getting away from having to rely on DWP but it's slow going atm due to not being in the best of health. I'm not giving up though ..............one day...........:)
Was interested to read about your son LL, seems like he's in a similar position to my DS. He too has a degree but hasn't been able to get a better job as a result. He's drifted from factory job to labouring in a builders yard but has a mortgage to pay so it's got to be done. He too is now thinking of taking an electrician's course and perhaps one day hopes to become his own boss. Younger DS is hoping to do an electrician apprenticeship when he leaves school later this year so maybe they'll do it together.:)
Not much happening on the fabbing front I'm afraid but I will try and sort my nails out later, and have a pamper session in the bathtub ( a bit difficult with a rubber glove on keeping my finger dry:rotfl:)
have a good weekend everyone x:)Frump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Lizzie - good to see you; can you hold a glass with the hand with the rubber glove on? If so, how about reclining in a sea of bubbles with a glass of champagne in the gloved hand. Well, if you can't submerge it in the water, you might as well do something useful with it!:rotfl:Thanks for the encouragement re the physio; and best of luck with the appeal stuff.WelshWoofer wrote: »You make it sound like you went shopping for a pint of milk and came back with a husband:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
All the same - you picked a good one!
Soggy walkies again today; but we've all dried off pretty well now (Mr LW came with us, even though there was no real "need" for him to do so).:o I'd hoped we'd be able to weed the front garden, but I'm afraid that's a non-starter; it's a nuisance, because I can't go out there on my own, so the front only gets done when Mr LW is around to help. Oh well, I'll just have to learn to like red valerian, oil-seed rape and ground-elder.:rotfl:
Fabbing from the inside again - HM nut loaf with roast root veggies and Marmite gravy for dins today.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Another doggie drama here....
Been up since 4am with a dog that wouldn't stop being sick - eventually called the emergency vet (kind of like the Manchester A&E for pets) and they told me to take him in. Got there and had to wait for a female pug to have an emergency caesarean (bless her) by which time my dog had stopped throwing up and had started to look like there was nothing wrong:o. Lovely vet gave him a good examination, some antisickness jabs and antibiotics in case and a dose of Zantac. He hasn't been sick since but it cost me a nice round £100:eek: He's just tired and a bit pathetic looking now - hopefully that will be the end of it - vet thinks it a bug and nothing much to worry about (apart from he was sick on my new carpet:mad:).
After 3 hours sleep I then had to stand in the lashing down rain and freezing cold to watch my two colleagues run past in the marathon - stood there for about 40mins by the time they passed. They looked warmer than the spectators! I promised I'd go so had to really. They were glad to see me though. My good deed of the day.
I'm off out with the ladies that lunch for a buffet Indian meal at 1pm - almost backed out but the dog is asleep and seems ok and I missed a bookclub meet up last week due to work so should go or I'll slip back into my old ways. So I've had a bath to warm up and will go and dry my hair and put a bit of slap on in a minute.
Think a snooze on the sofa later may well be in order!
Hope everyone is surviving this dreadful weather ok.0 -
 have a lovely time at your lunch WW. The weather's disgusting here too. Very wet and windy.
We're very happy here because our team got promoted to the Premiership yesterday.:T:j It's been a nailbiting few weeks so relief as well as elation.
BIL and SIL are coming round for dinner later to talk through our coming holday in Brittany. They can also help us drink some celebratory champagne.:D
On the dating/fishing thing: DH's eldest brother is in his late 60s and was widowed a couple of years ago. Last autumn he decided he wanted some female company. Being an absolute technophobe, internet dating was out so he put an ad in one of those newspaper columns. It was a telephone system where the company forwarded texts from interested parties (he can cope with a mobile:rotfl:). He was inundated with texts from women wanting to meet him for meals, coffee etc. The upshot of it is that he plans to remarry in October. We're all a bit stunned and his sons are very anti. I think it's that none of us want to see him hurt but he says it's his life and what's he waiting for at his age?
Sorry to hear about all the aches and pains. My back's been playing up a bit this week but it seems fine now. Doctor says it's probably a worn disc but painkillers and happy pills seem to help although have had a few periods of agony waiting for them to kick in.
On the fabbing front, I've had my shower and done my hair. Currently I'm trying to use up toiletries and so I have this M&S Royal Jelly (gift) shower gel and body lotion. I'll be glad when it's gone as it smells like I'm rubbing vanilla yogurt all over me. Yuk! I'll be glad when I can get back to using fragrances of choice. I find that toiletries seem to take an age to get through. It always amazes me on the OS boards where people seem to spend loads every week on toiletries and cleaning materials. Maybe I'm very frugal or perhaps I'm just dirty! :rotfl:
Off to prep the dinner. Nothing complicated, beef in red wine casserole and strawberries/raspberries and cheese if anyone's hungry.0 -
Hello Ladies
Just got back from seeing OH. I've come to the conclusion that our new car has jinxed the weather. Ever since we've had it it hardly seems to have stopped raining.
I knew we wouldn't be able to go out today so I bought him a DVD - The Wars of the Roses - he loves that film and it's so nice when I can get him something to make him laugh. It's lovely to hear him chuckling away.
Anyway given the state of the weather it seems a funny thing to think about, however, as it's the start of our "S" theme tomorrow, here's some homework.
Are you ready for summer? Yes I know we are all fed up to the back teeth of the rain and are desperate for some sun, but when it does finally show it's face, will you be ready.
Time to start looking at those summer wardrobes, is everything unpacked, washed, pressed, all hems and zips ok etc.
What about your skin - dare you bare. Elbows; knees, legs - are they fit to be seen in public.
Pretty tootsies or pigs trotters??? Are they sandal ready yet.
C'mon ladies - it's time - you know what to do;)
Pep talk over, time for a cup of tea, a little nap and then cook a nice dinner. Moroccan chicken and lemon couscous, followed by chocolate ganache. Maybe a glass of wine from that bottle I opened last night.
PS Maman - glad your team is doing so well - it's not looking good for Derby County.0 -
Uh, oh - more healing vibes for WW's canine pal. Hope the little guy's OK now.
Maman I hope it all works out well for your DH's bro.:o
LL summer? Wassat, then? Wasn't that the couple of weeks in March?:rotfl: OK, seriously, I must make sure we have some Factor 30+ to hand, and will ferret out the lacy parasol I bought in Belgium.;) I've realised I'll probably never need to buy shoes again as long as I live, as I simply don't wear them out being in a wheelchair, but as I have to avoid sun exposure, I think I might as well have some nice sun hats.:D I've got two at present - a Panama style with a burgundy trim, and a green almost boater style, which actually has a little pad attached inside that you can soak in ice water to keep cool.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Just a quick one as am heading out soon but ww, glad doggie is ok now. Speaking of summer was doing a traffic survey yesterday so was outside all day, didn't even take my coat off all day as we were on a bridge and the wind was freezing cold which meant I didn't actually realise until I got up this morning that I have seriously sunburnt my face! So easy to think that because it's still a bit nippy out it won't happen so we don't need any protection on. Hope the rest of you get a bit of sun soon x0
