Fab list Sparkles!
Will have to think of one myself - did the horseriding and doing the abseiling soon but I'm sure its not all about white knuckle stuff! You're right about getting out of the comfort zone - I felt such a sense of acheivement when I finally plucked up the courage to try some of the new groups.
On the subject of little treats, I do like a big bag of crisps, a murder mystery on the telly and a cuddle with the dog - small pleasures:p And I can spend hours looking at folders, notebooks etc for school:o
Now I'm back in work its time to make a little list of things to get on with over the next few weeks....
Personal fabbing
Sort out my yukky feet - will take some sustained effort:eek:
Get hair trimmed
Lose a few lbs
Do a sort out of the wardrobe
House fabbing
Get living room painted
Put up new soft furnishings
Try to squeeze together a few pennies to buy a pair of lovely prints I've seen
Get rid of old furmiture to friends, gumtree, house clearance man
Sort out scruffy patches in front garden
Social fabbing
Make sure I go to all of the things I've signed up for
Plan a few more cheap things - anything from social dogwalks to cinema, pub nights to book club
Off to think about a TIFTFT list!0 -
I need ideas for non food related treats which can fit in with small chidren and a puppy.......I am struggling quite frankly :eek:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Thanks for the further welcomes and replies.
boultdj - wish the weather was better for exercise and gardening as these are my key themes also.
fedupandskint - I find that I am a lot different to when I used to do new things. Been wondering whether to try and expand my daily ideas to make me feel more "fab"?
What kind of treats for "fabdom?" Cannot think of much but sometimes they come unexpectantly from seeing birds and other animals in the garden. Other than that, if something is created by being resourceful for free?
"Fabbing" yesterday - therepeutic to sow some garden seeds.
"House fabbing" - decluttering perhaps and maybe a walk out for a change regardless of the weather?0 -
Good morning all
Loving the idea of the TIFTFT list. Will have to get my thinking cap on.............
One thing I really fancy is gliding - in a plane. Not sure about hang gliding:eek: I have booked a date in my diary to look into in May bth my back really isn't up to anything very physical at the moment. That one will have to go on the back burner for a while.
Need to find TIFTFT things suitable for an old croc.:o Gently does it.
Just done my physic and off to have a soak to try and loosen up a bit, struggling a bit today. Never mind, I've already done a pile of ironing so doing ok.
The weather is a bit grim which is disappointing because I wanted to take OH out in the new car. It might pick up and if we can dodge the showers we might manage a trip to a garden centre or something similar.
Whilst the car is a glorious colour the actual shape and design is not very thrilling. It is a Puegot Partner Horizon and like most Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles it has a lowered floor and a high roof so it is a bit "Van" like. It's well fitted inside though and much quieter and a bit more luxurious than your average Ford Transit Van:D
My neighbour has christened it "The Bobmobile". :rotfl:
Dannie - As for treats for fabdom. They don't have to cost money and they can be anything you enjoy but which, for one reason or another, you have not indulged in recently.
They could be anything from a new lippy, or even just a quiet 5 minutes to yourself with a good book or a favourite TV programme. Anything at all - as long as it's something that gives you pleasure.
I agree with all those of us who find peace and solace in nature. One of my free treats is just to sit in the garden and listen to the birds, or if I'm feeling energetic, a walk across the fields, especially when I can come back with some blackberries.
Bitsy - with small children and a puppy then anything which gets you out of doors is good. Kicking a football around, skipping games, flying a kite, nature hunting, fishing, tad poling, kicking up leaves, puddle jumping in the rain, Pooh sticks, tenting in the garden, building bonfires when it's dark, treasure hunts, rolling down hills, feeding the ducks, lying on the ground pointing out shapes in the clouds, letting them make a little "garden". A paddling pool is a must.
Rainy days are harder, board games, cards, indoor tents, indoor picnics, when handing out sweets and crisps to keep them quiet (yes we all do it:rotfl:) turn it into a treasure hunt.
A good store of DVD's for "Film Night", with some homemade popcorn, ice-cream from the freezer. Depending on how old they are - making and doing - have a box of "Crafty bits". Can be a bit messy though. If you can - painting sessions are best out of doors.
Do you have a dressing up box - raid the chazza shops for bits and bobs - an old lace blouse and a bit of silky fabric for a såsh and you can rustle up a pirates outfit in no time. A bit of curtain for a cape and they can be a Super Hero with special powers.;)
Themed dinners is a good one - Italian night, Chinese night etc - they have to dress up and dress the room.
Then when you've worn the little darlings out and you finally get them to bed - time for you to just sit quietly with a glass of wine and do your own thing:D .0 -

Lol, as I type I'm watching Walter (arguably the fattest wood pigeon in MK) walking down the back garden to the patio!:D He's learnt that if he sits on top of the seed container and bounces up and down, seeds will be shaken out onto the ground for him to eat.
Mr LW has Friday off work, and he was planning for us to visit the Cotswold Wildlife Park; but we're thinking we might want a Plan B for if the weather's foul.:cool:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I'm managing to keep up but very busy yesterday. Like LW I have a voluntary 'job' that has expanded to a ridiculous extent. It's not that I don't enjoy it but not to the extent where I start worrying about it. I used to have a paid job for that!!
Laughed at MK Walter. DH and I have a full time pursuit of keeping pigeons awy from tree just outside our back door. Imagine lots of clapping and shouting! It may seem cruel but they're sooo messy and it's certainly paid off with the variety of other birds that come instead.
I'm not green fingered but planted up some seeds just before Easter. Coriander, chives and basil are just peeping through but no sign of parsley or chillis yet. Is this usual? I'm having great fun looking every day. If anyone has read Jasper's Beanstalk, that's me!:)
On the set days theme: my mother was very traditional in that way too as was my grandmother before her. I'm trying to be a bit more flexible! One amusing story was one Sunday lunchtime when I was doing my dissertation for my Masters. DH and I had decided to eat out in the evening to draw a line under work. DDs (teenagers) were fending for themselves. My mother phoned and asked about our dinner. I was deliberately vague but just then DD1 shouts downstairs 'mum will you keep an eye on my fish fingers!'. I was mortified. If my mother didn't have a full Sunday roast on the table before 1 p.m. on a Sunday I think she thought she'd failed in her duties as a wife and mother. I think I must have been a great disappointment.:rotfl:
Bitsy, were these treats for you? or family treats with the children and dog? Sorry if I'm not with it.0 -
Hi all,
Have just been catching up on your posts but am feeling rather blurghy this morning so apologies for not commenting. Was off work with it yesterday and rather wishing I'd called in today as well since my throat is killing me and I'm struggling to talk but am still having to constantly answer the phone
Think the last few manic weeks have caught up with me, have felt it coming on since last week but was trying to push through with so much on at weekend! Anyway, weekend went pretty well. We were sold out Friday and not far off on Sat - OH's filming went well and the footage I've seen is looking really good (apart from the bits with me in them :rotfl:) Went back to the hotel in the Borders on Sunday to reshoot some of that, piccies are looking a lot better so am happy with that. Friend finally took his camera back last night so I gave in and bought one onlineAm quite excited for it coming - though I must admit I always end up feeling guilty spending a lot of money on myself. Still as OH said is an investment and hopefully can make some money out of it. No choir tonight, which is just as well, so hopefully can try and get an early night for once.
Hope everyone is having a good day x0 -
Afternoon everyone.
bratz - hope you are feeling better.

Not sure if you meant treats for yourself or treats with the children and the puppy. Are you able to have a couple of hours once a week when someone else looks after them? Then you could arrange a regular swim, massage, cuppa with friends, evening class - if it becomes a regular routine everyone will get used to it and it'll be easier to fit in. I find a regular night (I'm a carer) means the time off becomes expected and easier to do.
I'm not green fingered but planted up some seeds just before Easter. Coriander, chives and basil are just peeping through but no sign of parsley or chillis yet. Is this usual?
I'm not an expert but I know parsley can be slow to germinate and chilli will sulk if its not warm enough.
Podperson - sorry you're feeling under the weather. Did you see on BBC news that Edinburgh job market is picking up, with salaries increasing too?
No fabbing yet today, but thinking I'll take the plunge with a more noticeable shade of nail varnish later.

LW and WW - yes I'm starting to feel better thanks for asking
One thing I've noticed from stress and illness is my skin on my face has gotten even drier, no matter how much moisturiser I put on. Does anyone have any (cheap!) recommendations of anything that might help?carpe diem
