sorry ladies I didnt make myself clear, I mean treats for me.
Nothing really feels like an indulgence.....does that mean I am indulging myself too much?:rotfl:
I don't get much "me" time of an evening as DS needs support going off to sleep and he doesnt normally fall asleep until nearly 10pm at night (due to ASD) so a relaxing soak in the bath is never a reality as there is aways a child around. I have DD at home in the mornings, afternoons I have to walk the puppy and I suppose to sit down in the afternoon I always feel like I ought to be doing something productive or fitting in some zumba or yoga. I dunno, perhaps i make too many excuses but there always feels like there is something that needs doing or requires my attention. I don't feel like can lose myself in anything eg a book or a film as there is either a small person about or a puppy wanting my attention
thats the beauty of food, I can stuff it down easily whilst doing other things, even being online I can dip in and out of as circumstances allow. But even that feels like a necessity rather than a treat as some days i dont have much adult conversation.
Sorry that sounds like a load of waffle and excuses but I can't see the wood for the treesI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Bitsy I for one understand what you mean; if I were to take "time out" from the housework during the day other than when I have to stop because if I don't I'll faint, I'd feel guilty, because there's always more of it to do than I can achieve in the time available; and in the evenings, we always do what Mr LW wants to do, because he's the one doing a paid job, so I'd feel guilty disagreeing on the evening's activities, iyswim. I'm now so used to this that I can't think of something to constitute a "treat", and if asked, I'd probably just say "oh, whatever you want to do" or "oh, you decide" or something. I don't know, maybe we're our own worst enemies at times.:D Unlike you, I can't even opt for food treats, as I don't actually enjoy food!:rotfl:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Just whizzing in quickly - will have a proper read of the posts in a bit and see what you're all up to. Behaving I hope !
Its all gone mad this week - the decorators are coming on Thursday and Friday and the carpet fitter on Saturday. The soft furnishings all arrived today and the furniture is on the way. Work is bonkers and I have some sort of cold - sore throat, muzzy head and sneezes:(
On the positive side, I managed to get the dog around the park and back in the car before it absolutely bucketed down - real bouncing rain:eek:.
Still trying to come up with a list of things to try this year....it may be a very short one!0 -
Just a quickie
Sorry Bitsy I think I misunderstood your question, I thought you meant with the children and puppy. I can't remember how old your children are but I clearly remember how difficult it was to get me time when mine were small. TBH I just got used to it. I really wasn't that concerned about getting away from them and having time to myself.
I figured it was only temporary because they would grow up quickly enough and then they wouldn't want to be seen dead with me.
Perhaps as well because like yours they weren't always easy to settle in the evenings and finding the right baby sitters etc was just too much like hard work. I just couldn't be bothered - OH worked away a lot or worked late or brought work home, so going out in the evening wasn't an option anyway. And weekends were always designated family time.
I think a few people found it odd that I was so happy and contented to just be with my babies but then again I didn't have my first baby till I was 33. By then I was all partied out anyway, I'd had my wild times and got it out of my system.:D
I can't really advise on activities just for you, just grab a few minutes as and when you can. If you do need to snack constantly then try and make them healthy ones.
I think being on the go all the time with little ones does make you extra hungry and snack prone - I know I always seemed to be starving when mine were toddlers. Perhaps that's because I never seemed to be able to sit down and eat a meal in peace.:rotfl:
Anyway managed to take OH out this afternoon, he was exhausted when we got back and had to go to bed poor lamb. Still he kept saying how much he had enjoyed it. Hopefully plenty more little trips out.
Anyway time to get cooking - one of my babies will be home soon and will need feeding. Nothing changes. :rotfl:0 -
Thanks LL and LW, the kids are 3 and 6 so not really an age when I can shut myself in the bathroom during the day and be happy to leave them. Inevitably I go to the bathroom and something kicks off and in the evenings H has been at work all day so feels a little unfair to b*gger off and leave him all to it
I suppose I read blogs and stuff online and people say they treated themselves to a bit of knitting or crochet, neither of which I can do :rotfl: stuff that is easy to slot into a small window of time but also feels like a treat to me, just can't think of anything that isn't food related :rotfl::o
Oh well nowt I can do to change my home circumstances so I really ought to stop whining
Whilst playing with my kids I've managed to buff my nails so I guess that's something :rotfl:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Bratz, Pod and WW - hope you are all feeling better soon.
LL and Pod - Very exciting with the new acquisitions of the car and camera. Hope you both get lots of enjoyment from them.
Hi dannie and welcome back boultdj.
I have attended my two job interviews. I didn't get the first one as it went to someone with more experience. The interviewer gave me feedback - mostly positive, but I didn't give enough detail in a couple of my answers. Still waiting to hear about the second one, they have three fixed term posts available, but are interviewing for two days, so I think they will be seeing at least 12 people, perhaps more.
The music concert I went to last Friday was really good, the band were amazing. I didn't realise the balcony seating was first come first served as I hadn't been to the venue before, so by the time we arrived all of the seats were taken and we ended up standing behind a very tall man (every time he moved slightly, we had to move to see round him!) and behind us was a group of drunk guys that insisted on flailing their arms about and bumping into everyone (think it was supposed to be dancing!) and shouting very loudly after each song and while the lead singer was telling a good story, so was a bit annoyed about that. Anyway I am sure they woke up with massive hangovers the next day and could hardly remember the concert!
It's my birthday on Saturday, so I am trying to think of a way to go out for the day and not spend too much money. I love visiting castles and historic houses, but have already visited most of them in the local area, so will probably need to think of something else, does anyone have any ideas please? If it is nice weather, perhaps I could have a picnic out somewhere, but the forecast is not looking too good so far.
Also, I have finally got a picture of Minnie, Mum and Dad's puppy.0 -
Awww, Callisto she is beautiful! Your birthday's the day after mine, then! I want to just kick it under the carpet and forget it, but Mr LW is having none of that. *sigh* Roll on Sunday, when Lucy Lab arrives!;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Hi Bitsy
I've just been looking at your blog. The birthday cake you decorated for your OH's birthday was stunning. I was also taken with your photography. You clearly have a good eye - could you expand on your photography or do your card making again - spend some time doing these as your "treats". I would class hobbies as treats, after all they do represent time out for you.
Do you have a little corner for crafting that you can call your own where you can leave stuff out and it won't be disturbed.
When there are small children around there will always be constant interruptions but if you had a place where you could just leave projects and sort of come and go and work on them when you get the chance.
Presumably your 6 year old is at school now, does the little one go to nursery or playgroup. I'm uncertain as to whether you work or are a SAHM - do you have the odd morning or afternoon where you could have an hour or two doing your projects and crafts.
pp Don't feel guilty about getting yourself a good camera. Your OH is right - it is an investment. If you are keen to build up your photography then continually having to borrow a camera is never going to be very satisfactory.
Callisto - In case I forget - "Happy Birthday" for Saturday. Whereabouts in Worcester, is Tewkesbury Abbey too far or have you "done" that.
Minnie is cute.
WW - the sitting revamp sounds exciting. I really must pull my finger out and get cracking.
G'night all. x0 -
<blush> as shucks LL that's very nice of you to say although I don't think my photography is anything special, use a point and click camera (no digital SLR much to my disappointment) and I just think not shooting straight on adds a bit more of a dimension.
I do need to get back I to crafting, sadly no little corner to set up and leave it all out which is probably why I haven't really attempted any lately, takes too long to get everything out of the wardrobe and get set up :rotfl: I would like to try some more sewing, perhaps my treat time could be investigating ideas for that
DS is at school, DD goes to afternoon nursery every day and yep am a SAHM for which I am very lucky. Perhaps I need to look at managing my time more effectively so I can schedule some hobby time into the day.
Callisto Minnie is adorablehappy birthday for Saturday, where is your local area? How far would you be prepared to travel to visit somewhere? I see you are in Worcestershire......have you ever been to Kenilworth castle? It's a beautiful place, mostly in ruins so if weather poor might not be as enjoyable and I've been told their CS are pretty good due to it being fairly affluent round there. There is of course Warwick castle which is stunning but not cheap on the old pennies unless you could find a voucher for it.

It's not the camera - it's the eye behind it that counts, and yours is a good one.
Try not to worry too much - just enjoy your little ones whilst you can. I know it can be draining and frustrating sometimes but trust me they are young for such a short time. Before you know it they will be out and about doing their own thing, their ceaseless chatter will have turned into teenage grunts and you will have plenty of time on your hands. :rotfl:
Dreadful day here - cold wet and miserable. Maman good luck with the gardening - your slow to germinate seeds probably just need a a bit of warm sun - like me:o.
Just going to hobble into the bath for my morning "sauna". My OH always used to call me "The Lizard". He reckoned that just like lizards I needed to bask in the sun until my blood reached a certain temperature to enable me to move. Cheeky s*d - although he may have a point.:rotfl:
I'm off to meet a friend for a coffee this morning so need to go and get fabbing.
Have a good day X0
