Welcome dannie and boultdj. :hello:.
Sparkles- well done you. Just been watching lorraine where they are doing a feature on running, with how clumsy I am atm I'd probably fall over :rotfl:
LW and WW - don't you always feel better when the grey streaks are gone, even though it 's a chore.
LL - know what you mean about telly, I always have to catch up on line cos it's all or nothing with the programming. Hope you are ok today.
Currently awaiting call back from DWP. :wall:Got to keep at em.
Am going to try a little gentle stretching on the wii fit. Don't want to overdo it but now my shoulder's feeling a little better physio's reccommended gentle stretching, movement and massaging the muscle to try and relieve the tightness.
It's back to the OU course too after the Easter break. Need to research my next one.
Anyway best put the waiting around to good use and get cracking.:rotfl:
Have a good day everyone. xFrump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Good morning ladies
Hope you are all well. It's bright and breezy here - but such a cold wind. I had to go out and empty my car - new one coming today :j
The wind was so cold it hurt my scar tissue on my face. I hate it when it does that - it sounds daft but it is so painful.
I'm hoping it warms up a bit later. I have to wait until the car is delivered - could be anytime - but am hoping to get out and about this afternoon, and also into the garden - however it will have to get significantly warmer.
Lizzie - glad to hear the shoulder is easing off now, yes you are right you do have to keep those physic exercises up, ditto the stretching. I was as stiff as a board this morning, forced myself to do my physic stretches before I even got out of bed. Still very sore and stiff but hopefully it will ease as the day goes on.
I have been a bit lazy with the various Ibruprofen gels and potions over the last couple of days and now I'm paying for it. I've dug out a Tai Chi CD - I might try and have a go later.
Good luck with the DWP.
Whilst planning my TV recording and viewing I got to thinking about what little treats keep us going on our quest for fabdom.
I don't believe in strict denial of all things nice.
For the last few years I've been unable to get out and about much and even now money is still tight so for me my TIVO box and my broadband/TV package are a godsend.
I may not be able to afford £40 plus for theatre tickets but I can watch good drama on the TV. Ditto the cinema, I may not visit the cinema much but can still indulge my love of film. I have a huge backlog of cult and classic DVD's. My DS2 has just subscribed to some magic gizmo that allows him to legally download films and transfer it to the TV.
I may be watching the pennies but I do squeeze my budget to allow myself a bunch of flowers. (OH always bought me flowers all the time). I now buy them myself and tell OH "Today you bought me some red roses" or whatever. It always makes him laugh.
I always manage to find a few shekels for a few chazza shop bargains. Bought a lovely wooden vase for £1 last week, currently sitting on my hearth.
I'm currently on a bit of a "Fiscal Fast " - see the old style board for this thread. With the money I've saved I've treated myself to some new bedlinen (in the sales of course).
So ladies always remember to find a few pennies for yourself. Don't deny yourselves everything. A cheap nail polish from the poundshop won't break the bank.
Even if you have no money at all - what about flowers from your garden, a nice soak in the bath, a book or magazine from the library.
What's your idea of a treat.0 -
LW and WW - don't you always feel better when the grey streaks are gone, even though it 's a chore.
Had a bit of a put-down last night though (wasn't deliberate, I'm sure) - we attended the local Moot (a talk on "Manly P Hall, The Murdered Magician") and my immediate superior in the "chain of command" of the organisation I do voluntary paperwork for was there; I spoke with her, as I want to try and offload the "extra" region I've been babysitting for the last 5 years or so, and just have my own region to do. But I digress - she told me I looked "a bit peaky":( and when I checked on getting home, she was right! I have frightful dark circles round my eyes. Oh well.....
I noticed the LL has headed her post "Little Treats" - are we on Letter L? I'm sorry, I've lost track. If so, how about Love as a necessity in life? Mr LW and I had his friend C read the following at out wedding:
(The quote may be found on this website, for anyone interested in further reading, btw):
http://www.firstpeople.us/FP-Html-Wisdom/ChiefDanGeorge.html
Love is something you and I must have. We must have it because our spirit feeds upon it. We must have it because without it we become weak and faint. Without love our self-esteem weakens. Without it our courage fails. Without love we can no longer look out confidently at the world. We turn inward and begin to feed upon our own personalities, and little by little we destroy ourselves.
With it we are creative. With it we march tirelessly. With it, and with it alone, we are able to sacrifice for others.
Chief Dan George
Going back to "Little Treats" I have to admit, if someone said to me to go ahead and choose a treat, I'd be stumped. I don't enjoy the usual "pampering" type things, and find things like soaking in the bath actually quite boring; nor do I like watching TV (if it was my choice, I wouldn't even have a TV in the house); and I certainly don't have any money going begging. I must work on this, I guess.:o
One thing I was thinking of doing is writing a Bucket List. But I have to keep it realistic. For instance it's no good putting Parachute Jump on it, as there is no way on this earth I will get medical clearance to do one. Something else to think about, when the housework's finished, ha ha!;)
Talking of which, I need to get ahead of myself this week, as Mr LW has Friday off work on Annual Leave, so I'd better go and do something useful now.:D Have a good Monday, all.:)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
LW - no we did L a few weeks back:rotfl::rotfl:
Never mind, I agree with the Love sentiments though..........
Anyway back on track
Quiet
I think it's good to have some quiet in our lives. I find life can be very noisy at times, luckily my home is a place of quiet bliss. I live at the end of a quiet cul de sac, overlooking fields to the rear. No traffic noise, no railway, just the birds and the odd fox, the ponies and the llamas.
Now the boys are all grown up the noise levels have gone down.
It can be difficult when you have young children (teenagers can be even worse) to find a little peace. TV's blaring out when no-one is in the room, different music blasting out from every bedroom, - thank goodness for the I-POD.:rotfl:
If you find yourself constantly stressed consider the noise around you - can you quieten it down a bit. I use my dishwasher and washing machine at night, cheaper and quieter. I only have the TV on if I want to watch something, no flinging open doors to let them bang or letting them slam shut.
Quirky
We all have our little quirks. I think they should be celebrated. Who wants to be like every body else. If you are a square peg don't try and fit into a round hole. Dare to be different, you don't have to be the same as everyone else, so don't measure yourself against every one else. March to your own beat.
New car has arrived. First some lunch then off for a test drive. It's a fab colour - a glorious metallic coppery sunset red:D0 -
Afternoon everyone, and welcome to the newcomers.
lessonlearned - Your new car sounds beautiful - many happy drives for you and your OH.
I agree with Quirky - let's us all have our own sense of style, and keeps the world interesting.
I'd also suggest Quota in the sense of fair shares. I think when you're down its hard to make sure you get a fair share of the nice things and treats in life. Its important to remember everyone should have some fab in their lives - including youmy immediate superior in the "chain of command" of the organisation I do voluntary paperwork for was there; I spoke with her, as I want to try and offload the "extra" region I've been babysitting for the last 5 years or so, and she told me I looked "a bit peaky"
This should work to your advantage - clearly the extra paperwork is not good for you and she should take the load from you asap
Your quote about love was very inspiring. Thank you:A
On the fabbing front, thanks to everyone who advised about re-opening my pierced ears. I decided to grin and bear it and push a sleeper through. More money saving than getting them re-done. It wasn't too sore - perhaps the post-op painkillers helped :rotfl:
Since this worked I treated myself to a new pair of blue studs - about the colour of the sliding bar on the screen when you're typing a new post here. The friend who was with me also asked if I'd lost weight and said I need to get new trousers as the ones I was wearing are too big for meSo the weight loss challenge is producing noticeable results :rotfl:
Will treat myself to some new clothes soon, but not sure I'm up for all the trying things on yet. That can be a fab treat in a few weeks time.
Small treat meanwhile will be to soak my feet in a bucket of bubbles to continue making them fab for summer sandals.
have a good day everyone

Glad you got your ears sorted out and can get your earrings in again Rosetta; well done!:T
OK, well, if we're on Q one thing I do is Question why I have to do things a specific way, when there's an easier way. Mainly kitchen and household stuff, to be sure, but, f'r instance, WHY should I push tomato soup through a sieve, when it's hard work and we like the bits in it?:o That's just the example that comes to mind, but it's how I am with everything.
My mother always had a regular shopping day, and because I didn't, preferring to shop when a) I needed something fairly urgently or b) there's a long enough list to make the trip worthwhile, she reckoned I was doing it wrong. No, I just do it a different way.;)
I've just now had a run-in with HMRC (they sent me a letter that says the exact opposite to the letter they sent me in January) so I'm going to have a quiet 5 mins with a cup of coffee and a Sudoku puzzle on the Nintendo DSi to try and regain my composure.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
afternoon all.
Sorry I haven't been on in a few days - as I mentioned was feeling a ill and ended up with a throat infection. Lost my voice, my lymph nodes were swollen and painful, my head ached and temperature. I got antibiotics from the dr and am on the mend, although still exhausted.
I spent a few days relaxing and trying to recover and de-stress as I do believe it was the stress that caused it.
hope everyone is doing well, and hugs to all who need them.carpe diem

:T for the car LL - nice new toy that will allow you to get OH out and about a bit maybe?
Bratz - hope you're feeling better now? Sounds nasty.
LW - you made me laugh with the comment about your mum and shopping - mine is exactly the same with shopping, cleaning, washing etc. Everything has a special day even though she is retired! I vowed I wouldn't do this and be more flexible and spontaneous but I can see myself slipping into a definite routine:eek:However, it doesn't panic me (like it does my mum) if the hoovering is done on a Saturday or Sunday, if the washing isn't done until there's a full load etc.....
Well, it was the first day back in work for me today and by 7.45am it felt like I hadn't even had a day off! Oh well, good job I like to keep busy!
I didn't have time for a proper lunch and realised that an apple and a cereal bar is not particularly good nutrition so in the interest of 5 a day I've just had an eclectic tea of veggie burger, plain jacket spud, red cabbage, beetroot and cucumber:p. Strawberries for dessert a bit later on too so I think I won't get scurvy today at least!
Looking forward to a nice flop in front of the soaps and Scott and Bailey later (Silent Witness is recorded) - will have a bath too after taking the dog out again.0 -
WW The worst of it when I was a kid was that if my mother forgot something on shopping day (which was a Thursday, btw) we had to do without it til the following Thursday - assuming she remembered to buy it then. I always have an ongoing shopping list, and when I realise we're going to need an item, I jot it on the list. She never did - Wednesday night was shopping-list-writing night! I also keep spares of everything, and when I start the spare, I write it on the list to get another. My mother didn't do spares/stores. Oh, and even weirder, she used to put empty packets back in the cupboard; so you could go and look, and think there was (for instance) a packet of suet, and when you took it out, it was just an empty box!
GWS Bratz Stress can do 'orrible things, I agree. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi bouldtj and maman - thanks for the welcome.
bouldtj - I notice your "still to do" plan includes gardening and exercise. My approach today probably will involve these.
maman - Yes I am curious about "TIFTFT" mentioned by fedupandskint. Always have thought that doing different things has been helpful, although now (my early days to "defrumping"); it seems difficult breaking out of my usual (?"frumpy") pattern.
You'll see gardening and exercise as reacurring theam's for me dannie.
Not to much fabbing to day, had a bad night's sleep,so left it simple
Done
Face cream on
Creamed all over
Tha che done
Plants in pots watered[ hurry! Chillie's are starting to grow]
Think I'll leave it at that, and treat myself to a drinking chocolate and 1/2 hour of knitting.
I'm lucky with the quite, last year moved back into a small village and it's nice and quite, the well dressing being the highlight of the year for us.
Quirky, well I'v never been one to follow fasion, useful that I can knit and personlise stuff.
LL- car sound's nice, happy motoring.£71.93/ £180.000
