Got my new glasses on Monday. Had several compliments on them already. So I feel better. Having my hair done tomorrow. To hell with the expense. I am in court next week and I dont want to look a frump. It for the guardianship of DGD, so I want to look as fit and young(ish) as I can. Dont want them to think I am past it and couldnt do the job.
I wont put my make up on today, its far too wet out there, and i dont want black streaks etc. on my face.
    Onwards and upwards!

Good Luck with the court, as someone who was brought by her Gran, I know it will mean a lot to your DGD that you are more than willing and able to look after her and give her a secure home.

Hi everybody, thanks for the additional welcome and ideas. Yesterday, I didn't go for that walk which would have been a change. However, did persevere despite the initial hailstorms and used my bicycle instead. It is so much quicker and practical.

I have been thinking about new ideas/something I haven't done for a long time. Yesterday, looked through my toileteries drawer and used up some "interdental sticks and floss in one" freebies. Also, the decluttering was deciding to read some old newspapers (reprints) and then throw them away. The historical events were interesting and also they had advertisements of ladies fashions (1919). Another thing was listened to some music which reminded me of happier times.

Similar to bratz, my skin has also suffered due to life events so have been reading about natural skincare. Creating something based on what you may already have in the house?

Callisto - Your home town might offer guided tours of the history of your area; might include buildings? Also, what about exploring the history/locality of your own house? The library should be able to offer ideas.

Anyway, today I was going to check my wardrobe and select nicer garments. However, I needed the sun to shine to motivate me. Tonight, I'll read some more newspapers and dispose of them; all part of clearing out the "old" me.

Thankyou to everyone for the best wishes for the Court next week.
I hope that I will come over as confident etc etc and competent!.
Part of me thinks that I am ready for a complete radical change of everything. Perhaps I will ask the hairdresser for some different style tomorrow.? See how brave I am.
The councilling went well, and the things that I have learnt this last few days are that I have started to become more aware of my surroundings now. As I have been so bogged down with all the family problems etc, I hadnt noticed that my room had become an uncomfortable space instead of the sanctuary that I need. I brought it up with the councillor today. He got me to draw a sketch of my room so he could get his head around what I was telling him.
I drew the scribbles and told him what everything was. He was quite surprised. Asked me what I would do if someone had come in and stolen it all? Some of it I would be lost for for a while, but the truth is, its time to learn to let go. I have already started to explore why I was so un organised, starting to horde etc. Which is a mental exercise that is difficult to face. But now that I have started to face it, I have realised that I am carrying around all that clutter in my head as well!. So my homework was to make an action plan to build back my new sanctuary!. He doesnt expect it done in a week, but he has suggested I do a time line for it.
So its not just sorting out the Person, its now sorting out the Possessions, and the reasons why I have them.!

Time to do DGD's bath, then get her ready for bed. I may even have a soak in the bath myself. I dont usually unless I have someone here, but I feel that I will be OK as I managed to go out today without my stick and was fine. Its just the upper body thats in the real pain. The rain agravates joints as we all know.
The stress adds the tension, and the cold/snuffles etc add to the headaches! Broken body synddrome!! Well we will sort it.

PS Happy birthday to LW and Castilo for later in the week. Just incase I dont get back on for a few days. I cant always visit. Depends on my time, and my energy/arm.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Mr LW tells me the tanker drivers' strike is ON (so one of his colleagues told him this afternoon), so I guess we'll be rethinking a day out; he works 30 miles from home, so fuel needs to be conserved for him to get to work, and for necessary things like my visit to the GP on Saturday.

He was late in AGAIN tonight (the users are starting to take advantage - something will be said by his boss very soon, methinks) so we've not long had dins - pasta fusilli in HM cheese sauce, with onion, tomato and basil from the windowsill. We'll have our apple crumble pud in a little while, as I need a time-out between courses.

He's currently on the WiiFit and I've got the mini-walker machine going as I type, so please forgive any typos!

Apparently, the drivers turned down the union recommendation or something but they have until the weekend (I think) to announce any strike action. But I suppose it'll lead to more panic buying.

I'm hoping to have basil from my window sill soon too. Actually the herbs are in my (south facing) conservatory but I brought the chilli into the kitchen for a bit of a warm.

I'm keeping up with my fabbing. Did a deep condition on my hair today and left off the styling product. It's good for giving my hair a bit of body but it makes it very dry. Last night I did a manicure. so, good habits. Pod, I expect the dark circles under your eyes are because you've been pushing yourself so hard lately. I like the eye cream but I use it for a gentle moisturiser in that area rather than for dark rings. Clinique is my favourite but that's a rare treat. I begrudge paying the money.

Good to see you back tru. Is your Cornish cottage still in the plan?

Mooloo, very interesting what your counsellor said about surroundings. I've always found a bit of decluttering/planning/organising cathartic and he seems to be confirming there's something psychological about it.

    Thanks

All plans have been scrapped  Recent events have left us with a bank balance of £0. We're starting again with this month's pay, once the bills have been paid and grocery money withdrawn there should be a little bit left over. We might be able to manage a week at the end of the year. I don't care if the weather is rubbish, as long as I get to spend some time in Mevagissey harbour :D

    Hello everyone, I'm back :D

I'm going right back to the beginning and starting again. I think I'll write everything down properly this time - I kept short notes before and they were useful so I'll expand on that.

Bossy bitch alert - I want no sympathy, no empathy and no-one worrying. Sorry if that comes across a bit (!) strong, but I HAVE to have somewhere to concentrate solely on the positives (and tbh, be completely selfish), and I'd like to do that here.

So the positives so far this week are -

I've started going through everthing in the house. As I've sorted, tidied, recycled and thrown things away, my mind has become clearer.

I can move around a lot more now, my leg has really improved. As a result, I'm slowly toning up without putting any effort in.

If the seedlings carry on the way they're going, I'm going to have lots of healthy food to eat over the next few months.

I've actually shaved my legs :D

    Welcome back Tru.

Good idea about the back to basics Just draw a line and start again and of course Remember the Elephant.

I'm trying to do something similar at the moment. I'm really struggling just now with my back, hip and leg so it's back to the physic, physic homework every day, baths, self massage (as best as I can - a bit tricky trying to massage my back my self).

Anyway got a really busy day today - taking OH for an assessment for a powered wheelchair, so another day of hanging round etc

LW - happy birthday for tomorrow - whether you like it or not.
Mooloo - good luck with the hearing.
Bratz - glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.

To any poorly ones I've missed hope you are better soon.- The sun will be back soon and then I'm sure we will all perk up a bit. ;)

Maman - like the bra - very pretty.

After coffee with my friend (more details in a moment) went to Sainburys and did a bit of a stock up. Also bought three flowering shrubs and one blackcurrant bush. So I now have one blackcurrant, one redcurrant, one blackberry. My small strawberry patch which I planted up last year is doing well and spreading nicely. Just need some raspberry canes then I'm done fruit wise.

I bought four mini fruit trees last year, apple, pear, cherry and plum. They are are blossoming nicely so hopefully might get a bit of produce this year.

Lots of nice healthy homegrown fruit and veg. Currently have cabbage and broccoli almost ready. Not planted any seeds yet, perhaps next week if the weather improves will get my mini greenhouse out and set up and then get going.

Re my coffee morning. Had a lovely time. My friend is a retired midwife and is very knowledgeable about medical stuff. We were discussing our aches and pains (as you do:rotfl:)

She has just signed up with one of the local gyms - much cheaper than I thought so now that I'm no longer bothering with WW I think I will look into this.

She has also just signed up with a personal trainer - again much cheaper than I had ever imagined. She suggested that this might be a good idea for me, at least for a while, because he would target a work out specially for me taking into account my back problems and that he would devise a programme to help strengthen my back and loosen my hip.

Sounds like a good idea because although I am quite capable of using my WII fit and exercise bike I really ought to make sure that what I do doesn't aggravate my problems.

Hopefully I will get a chance to look into this in the next couple of weeks, for now just carrying on with the physic homework. Already done this mornings, now time for that hot bath, then get ready and take OH to the hospital.

    Bye for now x

BTW Another horrible day he. Noticed the queues at Sainsbury's filling station - didn't twig that there might be more problems with the tanker drivers again.

i didn't feel very fab last night, went to the trafford centre and walked past a girl i used to be at school with. she's still impossibly tall, impossibly thin and looked like she'd spent ages doing her hair. minute i clocked it was def her and she was doing the "i know you! where do i know you from??" looks i looked away and sped up.

ah well. I'm off to paris tomorrow for the weekend, my mums hoping a holiday will help me chill out a bit. i have to admit, since i moved back home my skin has improved so the saying that what you are like inside shows on your face is def true!

Snap - same here. I queued to top up and have 3/4 full tank for next week at work. Looks like everyone twigged about the threat of a strike again.

A horrible day here too - bucketing it down, cold, grey and miserable. Looks like seed planting put off until it warms up a bit more and I also have some brocoli in the garden that's done very well and I'm about to use the last of it tonight in a stir fry.

Not much else to report - just about to make a cuppa and do an hour on the assignment before lunch

Had a sort of compliment last night at tap class. We are doing a show and we all need to buy a particular type of top. Had to tell one of ladies my size and she was gobsmacked  apparently I don't look it so I am taking it as a compliment that I am don't look as big as i think I do :o
