On thing I would like advice on is choosing an affordable and effective skin care regime. In the past I have tried many different types and I just want to settle on a product range. I am in my early (okay middle :rotfl:) 30s and I have always been blessed with blemish free normal skin that very occasionally verges on dry. I do not like water on my face so would like a cream cleanser, any suggestions??
have a look at liz earle's cleanse and polish, theres still xmas gifts on the website so you can try smaller sizes before going for the whole thing just in case. i love it though, I've used it for years. i usually get about 2 months out of one 100ml tube and they are about £11 a go.
other than that, try and beg, borrow or steal a copy of the beauty bible books or look through their website (http://www.beautybible.com/home.htm). they send every product out there that they can get their hands on to 10 women who write back and say how good it is. liz earle c&p is on 9.5 out of 10 at the moment but they have also done a "beauty steals" book where everything is reasonably priced. I've done testing for them years ago and 2 of my comments are in the beauty steals book0 -

This is the only skincare regime that I have used that made my skin break out. Both my mum and sister use it with great results (that's why I tried it) but it wasn't for me. I will have a look at the site you recommended, thank you :T

hi, please can I join you?
I've been off work for the last 2 months and seem to be stuck in a bit of a rutI seem to spend my days in pjs and trackie bottoms never going out the house. I have had to make a bit of an effort over christmas with us going to visit friends and family and the getting dressed 'properly' to go see/stay with them has made me realise how bad things had gotten.
The doctor wants me to look at going back to work on phased return and think I really need to start fabbing myself up a bit! I had a really good routine in the run up to my wedding back in march, but since then things have really slipped. I've got no routine at all any more and I have put on nearly 2 stone since our honeymoonhoping with a bit of help here, I could be on my way to being fab for our aniversary

Hi everyone,
Well not much fabness going on here. Although for the first time in weeks I did tone and moisturiser before going to bed. Gone to work feel rather dull though. I didnt even put any make up on and I forgot the perfume as well
I think I just need to start wearing my decent clothes all the time, rather than saving them thinking I will get to wear them somewhere nice. I never do.
I am meeting some friends tonight though, so I will try and put a bit of make up on before I go out. I just feel like I dont know what to do with the makeup though, and I have all these things that sit in drawers untouched as im not sure what they are used for.
Oh well, tomorrow is New Years Eve, so I will try and wear something decent tomorrow.
LL you sound incredibly strong and you really are an inspiration, I can only imagine how hard it must have been to come to the decision, but yet you are still on here, staying positive and inspiring others. Sending you a huge hug0 -
Wishing you lots of love for your new life LL xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Thanks for the 'A' post Lesson Learned and I hope that everything works out well for you and your husbands new home.
The posts about make up are interesting for me as I have never learnt how to apply foundation/concealer and so don't wear it - my skin looks fine although now I have more wrinkles (particularly around my eyes) and the tone isn't as goid as before. What is mineral make up and how would you use it?
Today I'm still on holiday, so a bit slobby still but I will moisturise properly and style my hair after my showerTrying to keep in budget.

Morning All. I am finding getting into a routine quite hard. Last night I went to bed with make-up on again - I just forgot I had it on. I eventually remembered about 10 mins later but couldn't be bothered getting back out of bed as it was so cold.
My Plans for today
1. Shower, full body moisturise.
2. Cleanse, tone, moisturise face
3. Perfume on
4. Nails and hands - exfoliate, do an oil Tx on nails, hand mask and moisturise.
Have started using TeePee brushes when brushing my teeth too. I need to get more dental floss today though as my 3 year old niece nabbe our last box - she has a thing for dental floss and whenever she comes to visit she makes a beeline for the bathroon to find it.0 -
Hello all!
I'm off to find my mum a birthday present today so will pop in to Boots and suss out the make up makeover situation - I probably won't have it done today as I can't afford to buy anything new until payday.
The night time routine is going well - seems to be sticking although I hope it stays that way when I'm back at work.
Diet day no 1 went very well - no slip ups - and I'm actually looking forward to today- how weird is that?!
Just the "normal" fabbing today - will try to wear something that doesn't make me look like a chubby bag lady, will wear make up and perfume and will walk the dog briskly to get the blood pumping.
Later tonight I'll do a Dead Sea Mud Mask (always a laugh!) and expect a face full of spots tomorrow from being so "purified"!0 -
Hi
I am wondering how do I overcome my feelings of guilt, about spending time on/for myself.
I'm a working mum (off at mo for xmas), have 2 kids (14 and 11) not littlies anymore, my hubby works shifts so everyother week they dont see dad as he is working in the evenings. When I get home from work its tea, tidy, help with homework, taxi them around. By the time I've done all that I'm exhausted, my job is more mentally tiring than psyical.
I have struggled for years with taking time out for myself, and guess thats why I have joined this thread as the years of not tkaing extra care of myself have made me into a big frump!
I want to and need to have time for myself, but even thinking about it I feel guilty that I'm not doing things with the kids or around the house.
Your advice will be very welcome.
Cheers hope you all have a fab day xxChiari Brain Malformation - decompression survivor

Morning all,
LL, thanks for the A post yesterday. You are right that everyday CAN be an adventure, it's about making different choices and this is absolutely something I'm going to try. I started 2 days ago by making 2 new recipes for dinner!
I'm not too fab today! We had some news last night that made me panic so didn't sleep so well and then woke up late. So I have perfume on but am not dressed that well and don't have make-up on.
But, tonight is my night in. My DH has to work late so I'm wardrobe and body product auditing. I may even make time for a soak in the bath!0
