Ive spent far too long watching make up videos evening
but I've really enjoyed it and it's inspired me to wear eyeshadow not just for going out which is what I normally do. I also want some decent makeup brushes but don't want to break the bank. Any suggestions?
Want to source a primer too. My mineral make up lasts better as I actually wear less but it does still wear off depending on what or where I am. Any suggestions for reasonable priced primer?
Just had an egg salad for dinner. And I actually wanted it rather than thinking I ought to have it
Meant to also say bought my extra virgin olive oil from Aldi today, have had to warn H as to why a bottle will be in the bathroom, before he thinks I've lost the plot! A for see ambit of EVOO tonightI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

((hugs)) LL you're very strong
LW if you have creams and such why not use them if you're bored or watching tv? fingers crossed that your meds kick in asap.
Evening everyone! I still haven't got around to epilating but I did put a few highlights in my hair and packed to go back to London, now enjoying some wine and the last of the chocolate. I swear I will not have anymore chocolate after today! I have such good resolve once I'm eating well but the first step is always so hardLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
I missed you LL, big hugs for you. Welcome to all the newbies and hello to the regulars
Yesterday I treated myself in House of Fraser and bought myself a massive (half price at £9!) Yankee Candle which I'll light when we take the xmas tree down. I love to light a load of candles and just chill out so I guess it could be classed as fabbing? I also went out with makeup on.The night before that I moisturised my legs after a long shower. Oh and I painted my nails.
Today I've done nothing fabwise but I'll be having a long shower again followed by more moisturising. I want to go up town again tomorrow to see if I can find myself a pretty dress or somethingDoes anyone know what style of dress would suit a 5 foot 7ish 19 year old who is size 18-20? I think I'm an apple shape.

Morning girlies :santa2:
Chloris, I live in boots too. I bought a pair of wedges a few months ago, they were a lot higher than they looked (I bought online). I've practised and practised but I still can't walk in them
I would always fall over in heels when young so I gave up trying!
LL, you seem to be an incredibly positive person.
Well I have nail polish on (already chipped - I will invest in some decent stuff, recomendations? And some rubber gloves). I have worn earrings, bracelets and a dress today. I even wore my smart black boots out (no heel :rotfl:). I have drunk plenty of water and started my healthy eating. Now, I am a soap and water girl when it comes to skincare. Is it worth investing in bottles of alchemical potions? Quite frankly beauty shops scare the hell out of me . I am working on a list of bits to pick up when the children go back to school. Would love some advice. x0 -
chloris, just use a topcoat to make them last longer and paint the top coat slightly on the underside of your nail to minimise chips at the end. No 7 have a voucher out atm and they do a nice top coat you could use it towards.
Personally I think skin care is worth it and you should definitely use a moisturiser with spf(olay beauty fluid spf15 is good and cheap), but other than that do you think you need it? Do you find your skin is every dry or a bit congested? You could try something very cheap like an occasional HM face scrub of sea salt, sugar and oil; green clay mask(clay powder is SO cheap on ebay/amazon); oil cleansing (castor+sunflower's the usual but EVO is good); tea tree oil for blemishes etc. Natural soaps made of few ingredients would be kinder to your skin if you're just using dove or something, african black soap is very cheap and moisturising.
A full on skin care routine can be very pricey (though most give samples that last 1 week+ of their products). I've heard lots of good skin about superdrug's swiss apple and grape extract ranges and they're very reasonable and often on offer.
bitsy, i like m.a.c brushes because they have dense bristles, rarely shed, generally good quality and the holiday brush sets are good value http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_123443053999?CMP=OTC-GOOGLEPS&tmcampid=28&tmad=c&adtype={adtype}&sku=6962963 "real techniques by sam chapman" are also good brushes (though synthetic) and they do good sets for ~£20 http://www.victoriahealth.com/product/Real-Techniques-Starter-Set-by-Samantha-Chapman/9437/0/ . If you've been watching any videos by pixiwoo they are their brushes and they always use them. No.7 also do nice makeup brushes, think they will be about the same price as real techniques? I don't use a primer with mineral make up, I just make sure I put it on at least 10 mins after moisturiser. My favourite blogger/youtuber is AModelReccomends, she does some high end stuff but she uses cheaper products too and is so likeable and down to earth. She's not a totally clued up make up artist either so keeps it more simple.
willow maybe a wrap dress with a v-neck, anything that creates a waist and curves is good for an apple shape.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
LL I hope everything goes well for you and your husband. It sounds like you have some great plans for making his room a very special place where you will be able to enjoy time together
I did my usual making myself decent for work this morning but it didn't really feel very fab - just dull really! And to cap it off, the left-over naughties have been calling me all day and I just couldn't resist!
I have a few days off now so I think first order of the day needs to be sorting out the wardrobe and trying to find the things that make me feel good when I wear them! There must be something in there!!
For advice on make up and skin care, I really enjoy reading Sali Hughes in the Guardian. She reviews and recommends products on a specific area each week but the best thing is if you read it on line, people join in the comments with their own recommendations and discussions0 -

Thank you for the reply. I will look for a topcoat, I am guessing this is like a varnish/clear application. Regarding skincare, I do moisturise and use the bodyshop tea tree face scrub. I was wondering about the cleansers etc. And eye creams. I will have a look in Superdrug. Although a friend encouraged me to buy the liz earle stuff years ago and I remember it being very good but pricey. Feel like blowing the budget but shall proberly restrain. :A Thanks for your great advice. x0 -

the hot cloth cleanser? if you want to cleanse and remove make up then any cheap cleanser (even aqueous cream) can be used with a muslin cloth (49p home bargains). Ooooh meant to say, home bargains have loads of body brushes, massagers, exfoliating mitts, exfoliating back straps, loofah mitts etc in :j

the no7 ones are good and the £5 vouchers work against them so they're worth looking at next time boots have an offer on as it'd make them a few pounds each.
the ones i use are predominantly bobbi brown, laura mercier and mac but they were expensive.
the thing to remember with them is to look after them and they will last you a lifetime. they need to be washed regularly (i use normal shampoo but apparently baby shampoo is the best stuff) and left to dry with the brush part hanging over a side somewhere. if you don't wash them, the natural oils and bacteria from your face transfer onto the bristles and breed, then you wipe them back on your face and if i leave mine too long i get spots.Well I have nail polish on (already chipped - I will invest in some decent stuff, recomendations? i have the no7 top coat, also got it with the aid of a £5 voucher so it was £2
i love the liz earle stuff, it is pricey but it lasts ages and their customer service is impeccable! they usually have offers on where if you buy they cleanser, toner and moisturiser they give you a free gift. they also give you a free gift every time you order from them.0 -
Lesson Learned what a touching post, I am sure his room will look fabulous when it is finished and he will love to see you growing more and more refreshed over time.
Well I have been away at a hotel for the last few days and I made sure I went swimming everyday and in the evenings I had nice long relaxing baths so I feel calm and ready to improve my life.
On thing I would like advice on is choosing an affordable and effective skin care regime. In the past I have tried many different types and I just want to settle on a product range. I am in my early (okay middle :rotfl:) 30s and I have always been blessed with blemish free normal skin that very occasionally verges on dry. I do not like water on my face so would like a cream cleanser, any suggestions??Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
