:T to those of you that have successfully found jobs, and "fingers -crossed" for those facing interviews!
This study appears to show that what we wear is down to how we feel:-

Another example of "faking it to make it so"? Definitely a very good reason to fab-up what you wear each day, and so lighten your mood and improve your feel-good-factor, although I feel good in my jeans!!!!!!

LW - glad you enjoyed the theatre, save the boots for next time then! My old dog was called Dylan, was a complete sweetie so hope your one is similar
<<<<SNIP>>>>
Boss was interviewing again yesterday, the lass who was going in managed to get herself completely and utterly lost - rang me up and was literally miles away, had totally gone the wrong way and was due here in 5 mins. Ended up calling in 3 times while I tried to 'direct' her here and was nearly an hour late *sighs* I did feel quite sorry for her, you could tell on the phone she was getting quite upset and flustered - but at the same time, surely if you knew you were going to an interview you'd fnd out how to get there beforehand?? We are in a slightly odd place but I know the night before I was interviewing here I was sat there with Google maps, bus timetables, street view etc to make sure I knew where I was going! Anyway, boss said she seemed nice apart from that so will have to see.
I do feel for the interviewee - as one who can still get lost in MK, even after living here for 10 years, I can sympathise. I can plan a route meticulously, check and double-check all the maps, have a print-out from Autoroute in front of me, and still manage to get us royally lost! Half the trouble is I get confused with left/right and consequently with East/West; the first time I got us lost was our first holiday together, 2 days on Guernsey in 2002. I waited for the inevitable telling off..... and it never came!!:T Mr LW is so patient with my deplorable map-reading!:D
Skymist that was a very interesting article! I have to say, I don't even own a pair of jeans. I find any form of trousers 'orribly uncomfortable, plus they're fiddly when you have problems with buttons/fasteners, so I stick to skirts and dresses. Always floor length - I have a couple that are a bit shorter, but I hardly ever wear them, as they don't feel "right" iyswim.
What's everyone wearing today, then? I have on my black, white and green wrapover Batik skirt, a black top with a rhinestone skull on it (bought at Alnwick Castle after we visited the Poison Garden there a couple of years ago) and a black cardi with multi-coloured flecks that I knitted myself well over a decade ago.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Ooh, very interesting article - I suppose when you think about it we've surely all been in a rubbish mood and not being bothered about we wear, eg just grab the nearest, comfy-looking thing, and then by the same token been dressed up or in a bright colour and felt in a better mood. It's just making the conscious effort to do it - which is what we're all about anyway
LW - I must admit I can be useless at finding places, when I came for my interview here I planned it all out and still got lost but thankfully left some extra time so wasn't too late. Anyway, wasn't a disaster for her as boss is going to try her out on MondayBless him, he said to me that's she going to be doing an NVQ while she's here and getting full funding for it (I think they have to use the work they do as 'experience' for it) so asked me if I wanted one as well - said I think I'm too old now to get funding on it and am doing my OU degree anyway but he's emailed them to ask anyway. Suppose you should never turn down a free qualification :rotfl:
Am dressed a bit boring I must admit today, had doctor's appointment this morning so went for comfort. Black work-pants with blue top - got it in the sale and is like the kind of fisherman-style cable knit jumpers but fitted (is nicer then I'm probably describing it!). Did remember to do my make-up this morning though so have blue eyeliner to match the jumper0 -
I really wish I would just wear something a bit more interesting, I just look at all my nice clothes and think "nah!" so I'm wearing skinny jeans, uggs, a long grey vest and a black long sleeve stretchy top with a black snood. How very summery... not!
I feel really silly as I used to be so fashionable and always wearing nice stuff, customising clothes(i made really nice mini-dresses out of men's primark t-shirts!) and always looked nice. Up until summer last year and now urg I'm queen of the frumpsAnd still not getting any fabber!
It is partly because of the way my shape has changed so things don't suit me anymore. I also blame it on work a bit as I leave the house at 7.30 when it's always cold and have ot be comfy to sit at my desk all day so I wear layers and comfy clothes. Then when I'm walking to uni from work at 2/3pm it's hot and I get all flustered and feel cack. I know some people must wonder what the hell happened to me!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

Well I took the plunge - went to hairdressers and had my hair coloured. Not quite back to my flowing auburn locks that I used to have, but a nice golden browny/blonde with just a hint of auburn
Might go a bit more daring next time but thought I'd just start gently.
I must admit that it looks tons better, I look healthier even without makeup.
The other good plus is I will know what colours will best suit my colouring. I had my colours done years ago and was told I was Autumn. As long as I stuck to autumn shades I never made a mistake again.
However, once my hair was white I just couldn't get the colours right. The Autumn shades were all wrong, black/navy/grey made me look like a corpse, the only colours that worked were red or lilac (too old lady for my tastes).
Having a great day, just mowed the lawn and am off to the chiropodist in a minute.
I'm focussing on me today.:rotfl::rotfl:
Adelight - great news about the job, when do you start. You've no excuse now so get your wardrobe sorted and your a** in gear for when you start. :rotfl::rotfl: Don't worry about the weight, you can be a "Rubenesque Beauty".
Evisquid - sorry your interview wasn't how you planned - that woman sounds seriously weird - maybe you're better off without that job. Ke Sera and all that. Better luck with the next one.
Oops must dash - time for chiropodist.
Later ..........0 -
LL i'm only a small 10, not quite a fuller figure just yet!! It's just my boobs and hips that grew so I can't pull of the same stuffLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0

LL there's nowt wrong with lilac!:D My wedding dress was lilac, and I had a lilac ribbon round my walking stick (I could still walk with just one stick when I got married, in 2003);)
I still have the dress, and now I've lost some weight, should be able to get into it again now, so may wear it to the opera next week.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Evening all!
Bonkers busy week again - but I did have a compliment today, a female teacher that always looks nice told me that I always looked smart and groomed! Me!!!! I nearly fell over.:rotfl:
I have been wearing new clothes to work and making a bit more effort - it seems its paying off a bit.
On the negative side I am feeling decidedly porky - all my own doing I'm afraid:o I must nip it in the bud sooner rather than later.
Glad to hear everyone's news - jobs, general life and our ups and downs. It really does help to know there are others in the same boat and that we can laugh in the face of adversity (usually anyway).
I'm picking up my new car tomorrow after work - I spent an hour after work today cleaning out my old one. Its half full of petrol and it feels like such a waste just giving it back with what is effectively a £20 note in the tank.
I'm also getting ready for a visit to the homeland this weekend for Mothers Day - we're having ours on Saturday as its such a long way that I have to leave fairly early on Sunday to get home before its dark (almost 4.5 hours of motorway driving, much of which is unlit). I'm taking my mum and sister out for a nice lunch to their favourite restaurant and we will indulge!
What's everyone else doing?0 -

Ooohh - get you! Theatre last week, opera next week! You're a very cultured social butterfly!;)
Hope you enjoy it.
The new dogs sound adorable - fab names too! Derek and Clive - brilliant:rotfl:0 -
