I'd be very tempted to make a small hole in the ceiling for the water to escape through, it will cause much less damage that way

Hope you get it sorted soon. X

Do you know if they own or rent evilsquid? I used to work for a housing association and if it was one of ours and couldn't get hold of the tenant would often break in to minimise the damage being caused. How annoying for you, especially when you could have done with a stressfree night :( Good luck for tomorrow, am sure you will knock em dead!

LL - glad you've got lots done, it does easier to get motivated when there'a a bit of sunshine :)

Day 2 of weight loss going quite well, forced myself to do my exercise routine and been eating healthily so far - just have to resist snacking for the rest of the night :) Thankfully I don't actually have much in, one time when really needing a shop can be a good thing :rotfl:

Well, Sunday has been uneventful - filled with lots of marking of GCSE practical exams - gripping stuff!
I have taken the dog for two nice walks in the sun for a bit of fresh air and exercise.
With regards to fabbing, I've had a nice bath and defuzzed, done my nails and bought some new ointment for my psoriasis patches (getting much better now). I've also put some nice newish clothes ready for work tomorrow.
This week I have to focus on eating healthily - something that has completely gone to pot recently.
I also get to pick up my new car and have some new blinds fitted that have finally arrived at the shop.
I'm off to Wales next weekend for Mother's Day and the final day of the rugby so want to look my best for people that I haven't seen in ages - don't want them to think I've let myself go since I got divorced.

Good luck for tomorrow Evilsquid! Knock 'em dead!
  • Hello

Pretty please can I join this challenge?! :)

2012 is the year I will finally shift 7 stones of flab. It will be through good old fashioned healthy eating, portion control and exercise - no more fads for me! I have already lost 12lb since mid February so I'm quite pleased with my progress already! :j

Today I have sorted out my wardrobes and packed things up into separate bags based upon their sizes, so now I only have clothes that fit me in my wardrobe - currently size 20. It will be exciting to unpack a whole "new" wardrobe when I get to my size 18s, then 16s...

My goddess goal for this week is to make sure I re-do my nail polish as soon as it starts to chip.

    :)

    morning all.
sorry I haven't been around lately I've been very stressed and busy but have managed to catch up with all your posts!

I have been keeping up with the fabbing to an extent, and sold a lot of things that are too big on Ebay which was great. I also managed to fit into a navy tulip skirt on Saturday that hasn't fit since I bought it! Well chuffed on that one I tell you :)

    Laughter

It releases endorphins which make us feel good. Endorphins can also help with pain relief, so start looking for the funny side.

    Love

Do you love enough. Seriously - do you show love and affection to those you care about or..............do you take them for granted sometimes. Make sure you love properly, each and every day, tell them, show them.

    Loss

You never miss what you've got till it's gone. How true. Never take anyone or anything for granted ever again.

If you are dealing with loss right now - well I'm not going to be so crass as to say "Time is a great healer" because that is just too facile......and untrue.

My Aunty S was a widow for over 40 years. There wasn't a day when she didn't miss or mourn her husband. My grandmother wept for her dead daughter every day.

Time may not be the great healer, however, you will eventually learn to live with loss, sort of.

    Listening

Did you know that the actual words spoken only make up 7% of communication. The rest is made of tone, inflection etc. However the biggest component of communication by far is Body Language, all those gestures, facial expressions, tics - even our posture are giveaways - they speak volumes.

Learn how to listen with your eyes as well as your ears, otherwise you miss vital clues. Always pay full attention when someone is speaking to you, especially children or the elderly.

People aren't stupid - they know when they only have half of our attention. How insulting is that - if they make the effort to speak to us then we need to make the effort to really listen to them.

A surprising number of people subconsciously lip read. They may not even realise they are doing it - especially if they don't actually realise that they have some slight hearing loss.

Be aware - so if someone asks you to repeat yourself make sure you face them full on when you speak - just in case.

Remember God gave you two ears, two eyes and one mouth for a reason. :D

    Luck

    You make your own.

    Loneliness

The curse of the modern world, loneliness is the price we pay for our fractured lives, moving away from home to go to college or take up a job, relationship breakups etc.

There is only one cure - get out and about, meet people, make a life. The world will not come knocking on your door. You have to go out and meet it - at least half-way.

Princess Daisy - Welcome aboard. You've made a good start. Stay focussed and positive, watch those stones melt away. In the meantime, be a fabulous "larger lady". Think of the painter Reubens and some of the beauties he painted.

bratz - well done with the Ebay and the navy tulip skirt. :T:T

Evilsquid - hope you are not flooded out. Good hunting today.:D

    Have a great day. X

    Morning all,

Princess Daisy - welcome :T sounds like you've made a great start already, am sure you will be onto the next bags of clothes in no time :)

Brazt - yay on fitting into the skirt :) Hope you're a bit less stressed now - do you need us all to come round and sort out your future in-laws? ;)

Some greats L's to start the week there. Completely agree with the bit where the world will not come knocking on your door - I see so many people who will constantly complain that they are unhappy with their life - they hate their job, they never go out, they don't have many friends, they don't like the way they look, they want to lose weight, etc - but then if you ask what they're doing about it they look at you blankly, or worse look offended as though the world owes them these things and they are just going to sit back and wait for it to happen.
I mean there are things I'm not happy with at the moment but I am trying to change them :)

Anyway, made up my lunch for today so wouldn't have to buy something on the way in, few aches and pains from the exercise -am telling myself that means it's working :rotfl:Think am going to pop to Asda on the way home and get some bits, could also do with some new bras, mine are dropping to bits. Was trying to measure last night but don't think I was doing it right and it was coming up with things like 42c which I'm sure is nowhere near right  Will just have to try some on I think.

Failure and rejections: One person had 364 separate Training Contract rejections. Would you have carried on? Wheres your threshold for giving up and believing "it wasn't meant to be"?
Fwiw, when Mr LW was out of work for 11 months, he applied for over 300 jobs before he finally got a temporary post, covering maternity leave. We kept all the emails and I catalogued and numbered them so that he had the evidence the Job Centre demanded when he went to sign on. One time, the woman sneeringly asked "how do I know you've done all you say you've done" he just brought out the wodge of paper and dropped it on the desk in front of her - he said her face was a picture!

Anyways, Evilsquid, very best of luck this afternoon.:o

Very, very true! And it's much harder to understand someone if they have a beard, believe it or not! I'm as deaf as the proverbial post, and use a hearing aid, but I still often miss the consonants in words (I can hear "daisy" for "paisley", for instance), and frequently, even with Mr LW, end up guessing what he's said, which can make for some very weird conversations (he's extremely quietly spoken, btw).

We enjoyed the theatre on Saturday - but I chickened out of wearing the boots! There's a good reason - they take a month of Suindays to put on, and I realised I'd have to take Sadie outside for a wee just before we went - and I can't walk in footwear, so opted for shoes that I could just slip on and Mr LW could tie for me quickly. Plus, yeah, OK, I hold my hand up to it, I'm a chicken! Cluck, cluck!:rotfl:

We had the shower head replaced, but the new one only delivers tepid water.:( So that's got to go back. Blokey is coming Thursday (he supplied and fitted it) as that's the next day Mr LW will be working from home. We've also got another blokey coming Thursday to service the mobility buggy, so that'll be a busy morning. I also have lasagne on the meal plan, which I'll have to make to be ready when Mr LW breaks for lunch, at 12:00 noon (I'll make enough for 2 days, as Mr LW will be on late shift Friday, and it means we can just nuke and eat when he gets in) so they'll have to stay away from the kitchen!:D

Sadie's gone home now; I've got 4 days to get rid of the last of the dog hair (oh boy, she could moult for Britain!) then Dylan will be arriving on Friday.:T
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Feeling a bit better today :) Painted my nails glittery gold though technically I should have put a layer of something else underneath. Makes a nice change though :)
