I'm going to make a bit of an effort with my appearance today - braving the male dominated arena of car showrooms and not being treated as a daft clueless woman is my aim! I once went to a BMW place (when I was a high flying business type) to buy a brand new car and was told that we should wait for my husband so he could say what he wanted- I wasn't married, the car was for me and I had £30k of company money to spend - needless to say that my custom went to a different dealership!

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That is so funny. I hope you made him squirm. I am assuming the salesperson was a "he" because only an arrogant testosterone fuelled orangutang would make such a schoolboy error.

Either that or the dealership doest train it's staff properly. They should know that in a male/female relationship it is the woman who makes something like 90% of all purchasing decisions. This applies whether she is the principal wage earner or not. Honestly - some businesses just don't deserve to do any business.

They ignore women at their peril. A salesperson should never underestimate a women's influence. :rotfl:

As for a woman visiting a car showroom by herself - a bit of a giveaway surely. You don't need a psychology degree to work that one out. Either she's shopping for herself or she holds the purse strings.

I have been in sales most of my life - quite successful too if I may be so immodest :o I wouldnt have made any money if I'd behaved like that. :rotfl:

One of the programmes about Body Language looked at selling and showed a car salesman ignoring the woman, and trying to flog an Aston Martin to the "toy boy". Of course it was a set up - however, the car salesman didn't know he was the subject being studied. He was so cocky he fell for it.

When she made it obvious that she was holding the cheque book and she wasn't interested in the Aston the look on the salesman's face was a picture. Mind you he was a right smarmy g*t. I wouldn't have bought a car from him on principle. :rotfl:

Well speaking of sales - I was up and about nice and early and went to ASDA. I treated myself to a few bits and pieces for my trip to Devon.

2 pairs of jeans, two cardigans and two tops. Quite a modest spend because I'm hoping they are "temporary" - I'm determined to get back on the weight loss journey after my holiday so didn't want to go too mad.

It's quite mild here so I'm hoping to a bit of gardening, need to start pruning the shrubs.

    Have a fab weekend. X

    NEWSFLASH

Another arrogant gorilla (salesman) fails to sell a car to intelligent discerning female.:rotfl::rotfl:

    Great news. Sounds fab.

The Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle I'm toying with is a bright metallic copper colour. Lovely. I had a Nissan once the same colour.

Nice one, WW.:T Our Honda Jazz in bright blue; Mr LW chose the colour, I chose the model!:D Seriously though, we went for a car where we could fold down the back seats to fit the wheelchair in, leaving the boot free for holiday luggage.;)

We're going to the theatre tonight - only local, so Sadie won't be alone for too long; but we've had tickets for "Taming of the Shrew" for ages, and I told the dog-sitting agent when she asked if we could have Sadie to stay.:o

I shall, I'm afraid, be wearing black. So there! *sticks tongue out*:D:D:D

I'm more comfortable in a black outfit, also Sadie's moulting, and if she brushes up against me, the hairs won't show!:rotfl: I've got a nice two-piece Gothic-style outfit I bought second-hand at the local Pagan Yule bazaar a couple of years back; I must furkle around for some jewellery to put with it, and may even be very brave and wear the boots I'm too scared to wear normally (thigh length, with cut-out bits up the sides). No one will see them of course, as the skirt is full-length.:rotfl:

Oooooh LoneWolf you sound like quite the vixen in your thigh high boots!

LW - enjoy the theatre, think those boots need to be worn, like you said no one else will see but I think it gives you a boost - and sure Mr LW will appreciate them :rotfl:

WW - glad you managed to get a shiny new car sorted, baffles me how some of these salesmen seem to be stuck in a timewarp, surely they must lose loads of sales that way as in most couples I know, never mind the successful single females, the woman has final say on the car.

Willow - hope you're having a better day

Just a quick one today, had a nice lie-in this morning and while still a bit stuffy am feeling much better then I was. So no excuse not to start on the healthy eating/exercise :) Started back on the shred today, knackered me out but made it through which I was worried about after not doing for ages. Am going to try and make sure I do every day and am all weighed and measured so hopefully will make a differrence.

Nah, probably worse today actually. I'm just a bit confused about stuff plus I've got to settle in at work now it's opened. I'll be fine.

i hope you are getting on ok at work Willow. i remember my first job as part of the team opening a posh cocktail bar. when the customers arrived it completely changed the place. my first time dealing with demanding customers was a major learning curve. didn't help that most of them were blind drunk and doing drugs in the loos

i'll be doing lots of fabbing today, got my first of the two job interviews i got tomorrow afternoon. bought a new suit from next. had to buy a size 16 so a bit  but i told myself i wanted to be comfortable and look the part no matter what, rather than squeezing myself into a something that quite clearly doesn't fit me. had my hair cut and coloured on fri and will be having a nice long bath later.

i listened to a talk law school put on their careers site last night and got some good quotes from it for you all:

You are your own best salesperson.
What are you great at? If you don’t know the answer, how does anyone else know?

Failure and rejections: One person had 364 separate Training Contract rejections. Would you have carried on? Wheres your threshold for giving up and believing "it wasn't meant to be"?

If everything is going well, don't get complacent:

A beautful day here today. So far have walked up to town and back in the sunshine and bright blue sky. Got up and went for a run which made a nice change away from the cars, exhaust fumes and traffic.

This afternoon will be tidying up and fabbing the house up some more ready for teatime then a nice long dog walk and tea is ready to go.

Just a quickie to wish you every success tomorrow. Stay positive and focussed.

Great quotes - good to see you doing your prep and psyching yourself up for tomorrow.

    Go get 'em tiger.:T:T

    Great day here.

Lots of fabbing, house organising and gardening. The sun must have given me a burst of energy:D.

Still plenty of aches and pains of course, but my head is clear and focussed and I'm really pleased with what I have achieved today.

Hope you've all had a great weekend and that you've managed to catch a few rays.
