Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Mr LL as you call him.
Sorry, that was me that first called him that:o - I always refer to my DH as Mr LW, so it seemed logical, iyswim.;)

Plucked up the courage to go with Mr LW on the weekly fruit'n'veg run this morning; we get our greengrocery from the market in Stony Stratford, as it's so much better than the stuff from any of the supermarkets.

If I go, the guys on the stall always give me a hard time because of the wheelchair, but not nastily, iyswim; much preferable to pu$$yfooting around and obviously not knowing what to say.;)

We had a quick furkle of a few CSs too, but nothing leapt off the rails at me today, clothes-wise. Bought some candles in the Hospice Shop, but that was all.

Good news is I won £100 from one of the survey sites I go to, and that came today; so that's going straight in the New Hearing Aid Fund!:T

Lizzie I hope to goodness you can get some satisfaction from the DWP soon; LL, you too. They really do like to kick a bod when you're down, don't they.

    Hello Fellow Fabbers....
Still following you all on a daily basis. Wonder if you can help me Fab my legs ready for summer....

My legs are in a dreadful state after the winter - very dry, pale and flabby (although I lost weight). I need to get them in a decent state for the summer. I am very immobile so can only do exercises sat down and have sensitive skin too.

I would really appreciate any tips or ideas for firming up, getting rid of saggy skin/ cellulite, moisturising and getting some colour on my legs.

    Many thanks x

Molly dry skin brushing is supposed to be good for cellulite and your lymphatic system I believe. I use pure coconut oil for moisturiser, it's it's good enough to eat it's good enough to slather on my legs so shouldn't upset your sensitive skin. I buy mine from asian supermarket and it's cheap as chips, holland and barratt sell it but it'd £10 a tub  I find coconut oil moisturises my legs better than any commercially made product.

Not posting, still lurking, feeling anything but fabulous :o but shan't bore you with that :o

Belated happy birthday wishes to Mr LL xx

Sometimes I feel like the failure of my family... I have some really talented relatives and I look at my self and think "What have I ever done?"

    Nothing.

Though I suppose getting a job is my biggest achievement...

No Willow you are not a failure. You have many talents and sound very artistic to me. It takes people time to find their way in life and you never know what is round the corner xx

Willow Write this out 100 times. I AM A SUCCESSFUL PERSON.

What's bought this on all of a sudden. You've just landed yourself a job which you are enjoying and which is putting money in your pocket at last. Given the 1m plus people aged between 16-24 who are currently unemployed, that is a wonderful achievement.

I remember when you first start posting on here Willow - trust me you have come such a long way. You have grown in stature and confidence, you have grabbed life by the scruff of the neck and given it a damn good shake. You, I repeat YOU and YOU ALONE have turned your life around.

No one did it for you, you it for yourself. :T:T:T

So ................whatever or perhaps whoever might be more accurate, it is that has upset you, just crush those doubts and carry on doing what you've been doing so far, because Willow it is working. You have done and continue to do really well.

If you've had a little setback - put it behind you, draw a line in the sand and start again.

And ................never, never, ever, compare yourself to others and measure yourself against them, whether they are family or not.

They are them and you are you.

In this life there will always be people more beautiful than us, there will also be people less beautiful, there will be people who are richer and people who are poorer, there are those who will be cleverer than us and those who will be less clever, and so on.

Everyone is different. To measure your perceived success or failure against the progress of others is a complete waste of time and energy. Do not torment yourself in this way - it is madness.

You are still young - 19 for goodness sake - you have your whole life ahead of you.

People often tell me I'm wise - well at 60 I damn well should be. :rotfl: Don't worry I certainly wasn't born wise - I have a lifetime of knowledge behind me and a shedload of mistakes to learn from.

You, my dear, are just starting out. Yes you will make mistakes, of course you will. The person who never made a mistake never made or did anything. Your confidence will grow with age and maturity - so stop panicking and just continue to enjoy your nice new job and having a little money at last.

It's time you had some fun - you've earned it. ;)

    Hi Everyone

Had a great day today, borrowed DS2's muscles and changed the bedrooms round, so we now have my bedroom which actually looks more like a bedroom and a little less like a storage facility, DS2's bedroom, bedroom 4 is now a study and bedroom 3 is now a guest room/dressingroom/sewing room for me.

Tomorrow I will start going through the wardrobes and cupboards etc and do a thorough declutter of all those unflattering, boring clothes. Then .............next week I shall go shopping.:D

I have already got rid of a pile of games/jigsaws etc to the nursing home and charity shops, two bags of clothing, plus a car load of cardboard to the tip.

    It is sooooooo liberating.:rotfl:

LW - :T:T:T on the £100 win. And don't worry I wasn't upset by the Mr LL name tag - I was amused. Makes a change from me being called Mrs Bob.;)

Lizzie - sorry to hear you are still struggling with DWP - I'm still reading your blog and posting occasionally. Re your friend who has disappointed you - try not to let it get to you. I genuinely believe that some people just don't realise how thoughtless they are. Those that do know and who don't care - well - ditch 'em.

My take on this is - if someone continues to upset me, belittle me or make me feel bad about myself then I just quietly distance myself from them. No fuss, no scenes - I just gently slip out of their orbit.

One of my fair-weather friends who let me down so badly and who never even made an attempt to visit my OH or even pick up the phone to see if I needed a bit of support, has been making overtures of late. She phone me a few weeks ago and this week she sent OH a birthday card. TBH - as far as I'm concerned it's far too little far too late. Where was she when I really needed help and support - nowhere to be found.

I won't make an issue of it, I've forgiven her but not forgotten. As far as I'm concerned we're done, the "friendship" - which goes back almost 40 years - is over. If she rings I will be polite but that's it, no more coffee mornings, girly nights out, no birthday or Christmas cards and gifts. She'll get the message eventually.

This may sound harsh but I don't need people in my life who are going to let me down just when I need them most.

My advice Lizzie is just concentrate on the good true friends, don't waste your time, energy and affection on those who bring you down and make you feel bad. Better to have one good friend than a dozen fairweather friends who will disappoint you. Then, when the time is right, get out there and make some nice new ones. :rotfl:

Anyway time to make DS2's packed lunch - I know, I know - he should be doing it himself.:rotfl::rotfl: and then off to bed.

    G'night all X

The only women who don't suffer from cellulite on their legs are athletes, runners and dancers. Almost all women over the age of 40 have cellulite.

The only cure is vigorous exercise, obviously not an option for you - and TBH probably not for most women.

There is a salon treatment called Endemology (sp?) which involves rollers. It's a tad painful but effective. Unfortunately, if like me you have varicose veins then it's a non-starter because it can cause the veins to bleed.

There are a number of ways to smoothe the texture of the surface of the skin, various creams and potions, you could also try coffee grinds, body brushing etc.

A good way to disguise cellulite is to get a tan, fake or real. Try fake tan or leg make up.

Re the exercise - can you manage an exercise bike, or even one of those mini exercise pedal pusher thingies that LW uses.

Can you lie on the floor and try some leg raises, scissor type movements where you lie on your side and raise one leg - sorry can't explain - you could try googling and see what comes up.

Yoga or pilates will stretch and tone muscles. If your balance is ok can you stand at a dining table or kitchen worktop and do some squats. Don't try with a dining chair - it might not be stable enough. A lot of ballet type warm up exercise and stretches would help - again google. They can be done holding on to a worktop or table.

If you are wheelchair bound could you do some leg raises, holding the leg out and up, and then pulling your leg towards your chest, holding each movement for several seconds. Working against gravity will work and tone the muscles.

Sorry but there really is no magic quick fix - except liposuction:eek:
