On the subject of Xmas sweeties and chocs, I've decided to put any that are not opened yet in a bag in the loft - at last count this includes a tin of Celebrations, a box of After Eights, a big bar of white chocolate and a big bag of midget gems.

Already open are..bags of wine gums, sherbet lemons, pear drops and chocolate limes and there's about 10 mini Heroes left. There's also some nuts, a packet of Pringles and half a ton of cheese.

I think that a lot of the sweets in wrappers can be made into little pick and mix bags and put away for trips to the cinema or a weekend. (if desperate I can take them to school, I'm a teacher, and give them away).

Right, I've made a decision - sweets stop today!

Have also had my eyebrows waxed - the lady has done a good job, not too thin and a nice shape - it does make such a difference to the shape of your face, I look more groomed already! Only cost £6 too:T

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a good time over Christmas. Count me in please, I'm exhausted having just said goodbye to all the family, I've a load of housework to do and I'm full of a cold so I'm feeling more frump than fab. Got on the scales this morning and as expected put on a couple of the pounds i lost.
I've set myself a couple of goals to reach by the summer solstice:
    1. Get to grips with a beauty routine. What I'd really like is a set of perfect manicured nails. A bit of a big ask considering I spend most of my time down the allotment
    2. Lose the next 10lb, mind you if I can just get below 12st and stay there I'd be over the moon.
All i need to do now though is get through the New Year round of visiting friends 'up North' so I will use that as an excuse to hog the bathroom and do a full body exfoliation, deep condition my hair and try and give my poor nails a manicure.
    Enjoy the New Years celebrations.
Alice came to a fork in the road. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

Chocs and sweeties - I have a large box upstairs of Thorntons which I have decided not to open but give to my mum for her birthday in Feb along with some other presents. Half a box of Ferro Rocher which I'm not that keen on upstairs out of the way and another large box of Continentals unopened that I'm going to put out of the way and use as a reward for when both my assignments are in and I come back from a long long country walk in the winter fresh air at the start of Feb.

If I can do this and not open them I'll be very pleased with myself!

Assignment wise - have half written an introduction and as a distraction made some fudge for a late Christmas gift

    Morning all!
Just about to brave the elements and walk the dog for about 30 mins nice and briskly. Brrrr!
I have kept up the taking make up off, night cream and hand cream regime so far.

    Todays efforts will be...
    1. taking a dress back to M&S that doesn't do anything for me
    2. doing toe nails
    3. wearing make up, perfume and doing hair
    4. getting eye brows done:eek:
Hope everyone has a fab day!
PS Well done Maman for being so noticeably fab!

I have a feeling you'll be making the  face for that :p

Oh and Bitsy, check the blogs I'm following for Odd Socks and Pretty Frocks, that's really good :)

Woke up feeling more frump than fab today, think its all the extra food and drink and not being in routine. Been out and tidyed the garden abit and walked into town and had a mooch around and got some fresh air so feel abit more alive.

I did manage to get myself some clothes in the sale, so instead of squeezing into some clothes I have afew to fit me until I start to lose some weight and I havent spent a fortune on them.

I have been thinking about my aims for the first half of the year and they include:

    1. Lose as much weight as poss
    2. To spend some time on myself, ie doing my nails, long relaxing baths, face masks and generally taking care of myslef a bit more
    3. To get fit, the local race for life is at the end of June and I would really like to be able to run the 5k, thats if I can overcome the embrassment of venturing outside, with the size that I am.

Thats it for now, but I am sure there are a few other things I could do with improving.

I will be fab by the summer fingers crossed

Plan is, for now :) And finish up the Xmas sweets and chocolates (nearly done!) so I can start eating healthily again:)

:T that's really classic cat! And well done welshwoofer on your plan for the sweets. I'm hoping to just ignore them and let DH eat them instead of me, same goes for cakes and biscuits.

I am pleased with my crisp consumption. Although I've had some each day I've not even finished a large bag of Sensations since Christmas Eve. And I know other people have eaten a few too. I've just been having a tiny handful with a sandwich at lunchtime. I'm delighted with my restraint. Pringles are there too but I can ignore those easily.

That's a good price for an eyebrow wax, good and cheap round here too (and not as painful as you think willow).

Joan, it will be difficult keeping beautiful nails with a lot of gardening to do so gloves and loads of cream will be essential. Like with the eyebrows, I sometimes treat myself to a manicure and then keep the shape myself for some weeks after. There are shops near me that are ostensibly for acrylic nails but will do your natural nails very cheaply (£10 for a manicure or £5 for shape and polish). It's not the lovely experience of a proper beauty salon but it's OK once in a while.

Had a lovely walk by the sea. Weather was really kind to us, tide was full in and it was brilliant listening to the waves.

Out for restaurant lunch tomorrow so good reason to get all glammed up. Need to think of an outfit.

  • Please can I join in too?

I feel like a total frump atm. Like Cat501 all my excess weight goes on my stomach and over the past 2 years I've put on so much weight I look about ready to give birth. I now have only 2 pairs of jeans I can wear and 3 tops that don't look too bad on me. The rest of my wardrobe is a complete no go. I brought out my coats for winter and they went straight back in again because I just can't get them on.

I used to be so fit and active. I lost weight with Slimming World, ran the Manchester 10KM two years in a row from not running at all and did yoga regularly. I had a bad break up, comfort ate, then met my now DH and fell into the typical move in together, get married and completely turn into a bum whilst eating like a man pitfall.

I've also been job seeking since July and found nothing. We're struggling to afford to eat healthy, gym memberships were just too expensive and we can't go out and do things because that also costs money. We live in the centre of Manchester so theres also no parks in walking distance and walking through town reminds us of what we just don't have so we avoid it like the plague. We've just ended up as hermits with our only affordable vice as cheap booze which hasn't helped the weight issue :(

I'm now heading back into depression and the heaviest and most unfit I think I've ever been and I need to stop it all now before I get any worse.

Helpfully for the fab part of this thread the only part of me that I like is my face atm, so I've also turned into a complete make up and toiletries junkie because it makes me feel better. I'm over on the no more buying toiletries thread because whilst it does make me feel better, I need to stop that too, its gotten out of hand.

So, by the Summer Solstice, I want to try and get my old self back.
    1. My parents have agreed to pay for our gym memberships until we get jobs so I'm going to go back to the gym and start doing yoga again.
    2. I can't afford to go back to Slimming World but I have all the books at home so I'm going back on it by myself and see where I end up.
    3. I'm staying on the no toiletries thread and kicking that habit.
    4. I want to complete a sprint triathlon by the end of the year so I have to start training again.
