  • Hello Ladies!

Have been a bit awol this week- I knew I was silly to say things were under control this January- this week has been horrendous!!!:mad:

Very little fabbing done here- just general maintenance really, I did pop in to town last weekend and picked up a beautiful turquiose coat down to £30 from £70- and it feels lovely on, bit of a change from my old black duffle coat! also picked up some bits to do some fabbing, but haven't had the chance yet.

Decided to wear my red wool dress for Fab Friday- it's so comfy and I always get lots of compliments when wearing it os helping me to feel a little better today!

Have just about caught up on posts- wont try and mention everyone by name as we'd be here til next week!

BUT: congrats on the interview Willow! let us know when it is so we can all send you positive vibes!

re Bloating- agree with the pepppermint tea I also add some fennel seeds to the tea as they help with digestion and help the whole thing along!

Sore Lips- I tend to use a layer of normal moisturiser during the day and then put a lip balm over it, also just before bed a very thin layer of oil- I'm using carrot oil at the moment smells lovely!

re the Oil Cleansing method this should help explain it: http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/

there is a thread on here somewhere which is where I read about it- lots of people have really great results with this and it's very MSE! takes a while for your skin to settle in to it but worth it in my opinion.

I use Castor oil and Sweet almond oil for this- but I also have a collection of "facial" oils my lovely Mum brought back from Paris for me- I'm currently using Carrot oil as a night time moisturiser and have to say my skin is feeling really nice at the moment- I'm a big fan of using natural oils as part of you beauty regime.

Definately like the look of that Zumba DVD may have to give it a try- wonder if I could get some of the girls to come round and give it a go- would be a laugh at any rate!

We are having the first of our girly evenings tomorrow ( while the boys have a poker night...the only reason it's a boy thing is cause they are scared we'd clean them out!?) some yummy food and a bollywood film and then on Sunday my collegue is taking me to Nirvana Spa as she got some vouchers over xmas for free entry...never been to one before so it will be interesting! have to dig out the swimming cossie and do a full leg defuzz tonight though!!!

right am heading back to the *bleep* *bleep* Tax Returns...may not be able to get back everyday but promise to be back properly once this is done...so prob feb:eek::eek:.

    Happy Friday Ladies!

  • Well ladies thank you although if you saw me just now I would not inspire anyone - yesterday was a full day and paying for it today but Drum Roll...............I am going to the hairdressers at 2.30pm today, not been near one in years, just trim the ends to keep it neat and lucky hair so strong I don't think I have any split ends, never had so far anyway. So today is the da. Now hair nearly down to waist and I want to keep it long so thinking about having maybe 2- 3ins taken off and it shaped and layered, what do you think, not that it actually needs body as years ago hair was so fine but its thickened up over the years and I have to put stuff on it to flatten it as there are waves through it, so not sure about the layers. I still want to put it up and have been watching some fantastic youtube videos on how to do your own long hair so have now mastered a tidy bun instead of the pony tale one I was doing but hair to long for it now ( just put hair in pony tail then caught bottom up in the band as well). I next want to have a go at French Plaits.

We didn't get to warhorse last night, hubby was feeling to tired and would have slept through it so going to go Tuesday - have SW meeting at 6pm and it usually finishes around 7.20pm and can leave a few minutes early as cinema is just across the road ( one of the few, or only still family run cinemas in the country, its a lovely one, old fashioned but all plush comfy seats with space to put your legs and spread out a bit and best bit its only £6.50 for an adult). So last night instead I went along to a Drama group I only found out was nearby last week. Now I do not see my name in lights but always all my life always wanted to have a go, whether I could actually stand up and act is something I do not know, have given takes and presentations to general public that lasted a few hours and they went down aright, but I was talking about subjects I love not sure how I would be acting, but as I said I want to have a go. As it turned out they are not taking on any new members until September as they are busy rehearsing a play they wrote to run at the Edinburgh Festival, but they have lots of fund raising events going on till then and they want me to take part, partly yes to get money but they also said it would be lovely for me to be involved instead of waiting till September. There is a small chance I might do some acting in Spring as they do small short plays at an old Victorian village on Sundays - you know they type of thing, people there to see the place and a few people act out a scene from the past. So am hoping they fit me in for it. The first fund raising is to be held at the head of groups home and Italian theme meal and you have to dress up Italian ( so any ideas as will have to get the clothes for me and hubby. I know my health might let me down, but if I rest and take things easy for a few days before and after I should manage the Sundays. As to preforming for a week well will cross that bridge when and if it comes.. I have told all of you but not telling my family as I know I will get jeered at me thinking of going on the stage. Also because I have been letting my health rule me I have tried other things - like IT courses and had to give up so family only expect me to fail, so hubby has been given strict orders not to let the children know.

You have all helped me, inspired me to actually get out of this bed and start to take control of my life again. I know I can hit the bad times when for months I will not be able to do anything but am hoping with the knowledge I have of my body I can either stop that happening or restrict it.

I admit part of the reason for joining the Drama group is hopefully to make friends, I have one friend, I let all the others slide away. Ok not all my fault, but still people get fed up when you keep cancelling on them. So now hopefully learnt from my mistakes and realise in past instead of pacing I would feel not to bad so carry on as I did before I became ill and did to much at once.

I am really blessed with my GP. She came to our surgery in 1997 after she became fed up working as a surgeon as she wanted more contact with people and as she said you cannot have much conversation with people on the table. She is only in her mid 30's, and has face and figure of a model and yet has 3 children and is a wonderful person ( as a doctor of course I know nothing about her personal life). Before she came I was treated as a depressive only at surgery, I used to say if I went in with a broken arm they would say it was depression ( I had a daughter die in 1982 and from then on doctors pigeon holed me as anything wrong all to do with her dying and depression which meant I got very ill a few times before they paid attention or I ended up in hospital before they did., Twice I know they were written to by hospital asking why they let me become so ill but they never changed. When she came she listened to me and sent me for tests and so I found out what is wrong and what it means and I pray she never leaves our surgery. She is now a full partner so I hope it means she plans to stay till she retires.

Someone ( forgive me cannot find post) said today they are going to wear their velvet coat. I adore velvet and on Tuesday I found in CS a black velvet jacket, £15, so thick and quilted it looks like fur with all the lovely beadwork all over it made by SGIROGGO and made in India which excels in its bead work. No idea about the make if its known or not. I wore it on Wednesday after washing it ( says dry clean only but I have found most things will be ok in handwash in machine and then air dry) and its so warm but so dressy. Alas will not wear it today as its pouring down - must remember to take something to cover head as hood of my white duffel coat ( a Gap thick padded cotton one, totally waterproof and lovely and warm, I bought brand new in CS for £10 last month) will not do much for hair.

Jeepers nearly 1pm and still not out of bed, only woke up at noon as so tired today, still am but instead of doing what I usually do and cancel hair appointment I am going.

Not sure about make-up for going to hairdressers, might just put some lipstick and perfume on and forget eyes, but will wear nice trousers and top.

    Rambled on enough

Hugs and hope everyone is having a Fab Friday

podperson - the oil isn't too bad when I only have it on for an hour or two a day, the problem is when you run out you need to pay out a big chunk of money in one go, not like with pheonix gas where it's monthly etc.
I priced up 300l yesterday and it was £197, which I simply don't have on one go. I am on a direct debit where I can pay £25 a month and then pay the difference, but the car needs taxed with this pay packet so there's not enough spare til Feb's pay packet. Typical!

PrepareAtHome - Love your posts - you go girl - hope you love the hairdressers results
And Mrs Woolfe - good luck with the tax return ....don't be browsing here till its down now! :rotfl:

Am amazed at the difference a bit of body lotion makes to the skin! And found a mini tub of something designed to strengthen horses hoofs - this tub is so tiny how anyone thought one would ever use it on a horse is beyond me as its sort of lipsgloss size :o. Anyway I read the ingredients, did a websearch and discovered it might just work on my nails and harden them up a bit (they get soft and break a lot in winter). So far so good!
Am actually having fun finding stuff in the bathroom and using it! The foot scrub and body lotion has made my feet look almost pretty and I'm planning on checking whether the local college beauty training place as a salon for cheapie pedicures.
And LL - I bought a bottle of perfume on ebay - I'm well away with the frump to fab now!
Am enjoying this thread so much.

Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Too cold for fabbing here, the heating is broken and I am freeeeeezing . Just about to dash from the relative warmth of the living room to bed which I am not looking forward to. No hot water for baths either, at least we have an electric shower to see us through.

Am sorry to hear this .... sending warm vibes...we can't really afford enough gas for winter warmth but do have a woodburning stove thankfully.
    Hope heating fixed soon.

    Hiya,

I try and do it 2-3 times a week, I would start with once a week and see how your skin feels, I'm happier with my skin when I do it a bit more often- definately notice the difference with blackheads:eek:

Oooh thanks for that! Will try and get up there- though it's car journey away- will depend on DH being around- silly man has volunteered for overtime this weekend, between his working and boys night and my spa day and bollywodd night we probably won't see much of each other this weekend....:(

ah well am really looking forward to the Spa and an evening of pampering! I have just told boss I WONT be working overtime this weekend- am actually almost up to date and I could do with the break tbh...my eye is starting to twitch- sure sign of too much PC use!

hope you all have a fab weekend!
