I have one dress and it's all floaty and stuff. I own no skirts. Ermm... I do have some nice trousers but no smart tops soooo it's a trip to Evans and charity shops for me. My hair will be worn the usual way coz it's just a shortish bob.

    Got to prepare

  • Hi All. Only fabbing I have done today is 30 mins of excercise this morning. Have fabbed up the bathroom though thanks to the flylady thead!

Adelight - the book is more about being kind yourself. It is aimed at people who may have issues with food and who overeat, possibly compulsively or are obsessive dieters. Chapters are very short and easy to dip in and out of.

My fave chapter deals with exercise and it has absolutely confirmed to me that the gym is not for me - I always knew this deep down but felt like I should go.

Sample chapter titles are - Ch 10 - Be fully present for 5 minutes per day, Ch 13 - retail therapy is as important as any other kind, Ch 4 - Give away clothes that cut off your circulation!, Ch 44 - Do one exquisitly kind thing for yourself each day. My fave chapter 41 - About the activity formerly known as excercise.

    Hope this helps. Al x
  • Well went to see my GP yesterday and got told I look fab, she is all for me fabbing up, said she had in past wanted to suggest it but was worried finanaces wouldn't stretch - she never has discussed them with me, but said unless patient mentions about money she never does and as even though we live in a affluent area of this horrible city, she knows a lot of patients don't have spare cash for nice clothes or make up so tends not suggest anything that costs money so as not to either embarrass them or make them spend money they cannot afford. She said how just making sure you where nice clothes and bit of make can help you stop depression in its tracks or at least make it manageable so she is very happy I am now doing it, instead of turning up to see her wearing clean but worn clothing and bare face and hair clean and brushed but not styled. She wants me to get into habit of putting some make up on even on day when am in bed if I can as it will make me feel a bit better and to style hair if I can. The big plus of living where I do is the charity shops actually sell the clothes they are given by people living here - they no tat would not sell - so you can -pick up some fabulous clothes at cheap prices ( cheap compared to brand new not compared to other charity shops!).

So every day am putting nice clothes on, had been wearing same old 4 pairs of trouser and half a dozen tops for about 4 years, keeping my nicer ones for when I go out, which isn't very often. Now all been dug out and worn even for going shopping. Bought some new make up this week, nothing fancy just did a trawl through Poundland, 99p shop and other cheap places. Found Poundland have goodie bags of known brands sometimes just one item in them sometimes two or more. So far bought a pallet of 12 eye shadows, 4 lipsticks - all varying shades of red ( used to always wear pinks or mauves which don't really suit me but basically didn't want to declare I was wearing make up) , red nail polish ( want to buy some other nice colours), mascara and a gloss thing you put over your lips that plumps them up a bit ( that was my most expensive item at £2.36). So warpaint on daily, nice clothes and jewellery on and a bit of perfume.

Also dulled down hair, I mainly am a dark red but through out my life hair has gone bright orange due to hormones ( about 2 weeks after each of my children it would turn the bright orange and everyone would ask why I dyed it and I hadn't)now with menopause it has been going more and more ginger with a pure white bit at front and a bit of grey so bought a mid chestnut and now it is old colour ( which dr told me looked fantastic and asked me for make as she would like it - of course could not remember it was one from B&M at £1.99 a box ( I need two as hair almost at waist) so she plans to have a look. Had looked now and again for a colour similar to my main one but never found exact till this one, so need to get back to B&M to stock up on some more. I have been lucky with my skin as although I have the very pale skin of a redhead ( and face and body full of freckles) I have never burned, rays just seem to bounce off me.

Diet not going so well, wasn't feeling to good last week so ended up eating sandwiches and biscuits so put back on the 1 1/2lb I had lost, could have been worse. This week back on healthy eating plan but no energy for treadmill so not expecting any weight loss but hopefully will not gain any more.

Tonight hubby and I are going to cinema, not been for many years but I really want to see Warhorse. So going to glam up a bit more for my outing. Last year I went out twice so was only time I wore make-up. I picked up a nice dress in sales last week so I think I will wear that.

Still moisturing at least once a day so that is something and bought myself a new nose hair trimmer - not I hasten to add because I have nose hair but to use on eyebrows as using tweezers not so easy for me now so am less of a hairy face monster than before as it tidys them and can shape them nicely with it. Old one had packed in months ago and so eyebrows had grown out of any decent shape, the nose hair trimmers are only £2 in Wilkis so not to much to pay and last a few years, just need to replace battery every 6/7 months or so.

Have just made hair appointment to have my mane styled into something decent - at moment although long its shapeless and I just tend to throw it into a bun all the time, neat but not exactly stylish. So tomorrow will see if reshaped, not sure how much I want them to cut it off will have to look online and see if I see any styles for woman like me with big fat faces and bodies that doesn't make them look worse.

I know I will never be a beauty but have to admit glamming up does at least make me feel better about myself, I might be fat and plain but at least I look decent like this rather than plain ulgy as I was before.

You are all so wonderfully inspiring.......

Prepareathome repeat after me "I am not fat or plain, there is more to me than the flesh on my bones." Write it down, repeat DAILY ;)
