    Can you expand on that?

I'm thinking specifically in the area of inheritance and capital gains tax.

Well the CGT doesn't really affect most people and the inheritance tax also. So the advice is, that if you're worth alot of money get married :)

Or maybe you'd like to add more.

Had she got pregnant, we would have got married well before the birth, period.
If a couple have a child (or four) and then decide to get married, there is no point.
"Lots of women get pregnant whilst not living with their boyfriend, it's refraining from having sex with him that ensures that doesn't happen". You should spread that around, quite a few million appear not to know (or care).
You could mention abortion, contraception and responsibility while you're at it.

Would she have had a choice? ;)

I wouldn't personally marry a bloke who only wanted to walk down the aisle with me because i was pregnant with our child.

And getting married and then divorced will often solve Inheritance tax problems...

I sometimes get referred to as "wife" even though I'm not and we are both comfortable with not being married and don't intend to get married but do intend to spend the rest of our lives together. It depends on the person saying something. If they are a bit sleazy, they might get some sarcasm, if they are another woman thinking I'm desparate to get married, I love shocking them with the statement that I don't believe in marriage. If they are nice and just being interested and need to know as they may ask again I would gently correct them and answer the question, but if it was for instance a woman on the train I would never see again, I would just tell her he was lovely - as he is.
