I went to tesco around 5pm (close at 7pm) and got some good deals - although the reductions weren't as good as on a normal night when items are all generally 20p/10p or 5p dependant upon start price. No turkeys left though.

Got some mince/crumbles/stuffing/pigs in blanket/prawns/sausages all for around 40p mark. Fresh veg was a better buy at either 5p or 10p a bag (cauliflowers/broccoli/tomatoes/lettuce)

Just got back from Sainsbury's. It closed at 6 pm. Husband was so enthusiastic about the bargain hunting that I left him to it and sat in the car as I was so embarrassed!! The till receipt was more than 4 feet long! Purchased goods to the value of £151.18 for £18.31. I said that I hope he didn't hog everything and he said, no, on the contrary, he was handing things out to people behind.

Ha! My local Tesco "superstore" had next to nothing on offer. A local Budgens and a (largish) independent, ditto. I think it must vary a great deal depending on where you live.

We went to Asda at 5pm (store closes at 7pm) and there was !!!!!! all on offer really.

A couple of full price turkeys, no offers on packs of meat or anything else fresh APART from a few loaves of bread (branded - from £1something to 80 or 90p - nothing to write home about!). That's all!

Definitely not worth a special visit (although we did have to go anyway as we don't plan to go out for food shopping until next week i.e. tonight's shop was just a normal weekly food shop for us).

I had a free range bronze beast of a turkey that was £70 for £15 in my M&S. There were more than a few of them. Lots of veg and other things reduced and tesco announced that they had their turkeys half price.

They had NO apples though, not even green ones!

Think it might be manager dependent?
