Unsuccessful trip to both Waitrose and M&S. Both closed at 5. At 4.40 Waitrose had less than 25% off turkeys. M&S had two aisles of turkeys left, a couple had been reduced to half price but the rest were full price and they said they weren't reducing them until after Xmas (the date on most was the 26th too!). They could have at least donated them to charity so someone got a nice Xmas from them.

If the date on them was 26th then that is why they haven't reduced them, they will sell them on Boxing Day.

That's a lot of turkeys to get rid of the day after most people have realised they don't want to see one again for another year. There were around 100 of them left! I just worry they'll be wasted when they could have gone to charity.

However, my M&S will have plenty of lettuce when they re open, they were stacking loads of shelves with them just before closing.
  • In the grand scheme of things 100 turkeys going in the slip is small fry to what gets thrown away throughout the year.

well complain to tesco as I bet the policys are set by HO and not by the store, in any case its they're money and not yours so why does it bother you,
  • I was in my Sainsbury until just after 4 (closed at 7), and there was nohing other than half price wrapping paper etc, but that was at my local one over last week anyway. I left it as late as I could - and I'm gutted as it's this year that I could REALLY do with some bargains :(

I went to 2 Mr T's (there are 4 I could go to!), and a Coop... not much happening early on but around 5 ish T's started to really reduce some items and got lots of veg for pence and some meat for really low prices, but no Turkeys/chickens drastically reduced so wasn't tempted. Got a beef joint for half price. (£8 to £4) which I will half. Bread was heavily reduced too. And flowers!

OH I forgot to add earlier, no special discounts to report apart from the bread - but the FLOWERS were also reduced significantly e.g. some £3.99 bunches going for 99p / lower. Forgot to add that until I saw further adds to this thread. So not much special in the way of food reductions but still thought I should report on the flower reductions :)

Well that was a waste of time.

Guess it will be a 'Mystery Meat' from the freezer Christmas this year.

Just got back from Sainsbury's. It closed at 6 pm. Husband was so enthusiastic about the bargain hunting that I left him to it and sat in the car as I was so embarrassed!! The till receipt was more than 4 feet long! Purchased goods to the value of £151.18 for £18.31. I said that I hope he didn't hog everything and he said, no, on the contrary, he was handing things out to people behind.
    Incredible!! :T
