A reduction is only a bargain if you are going to use it. If you bin it either because its gone too mouldy or put it in the freezer and sling it out has have no clue what to do with it - its not.

Not just me then. I don't think anyone has said they bin it, have they?
  • Just phoned our two local Waitrose stores and both have said that they are unlikely to reduce as the turkeys are all dated 26th at the earliest (one said they're expecting to sell out too, but I don't know whether that's just the "official" word). But they are closed Boxing Day so I reckon it will be worth a look tomorrow afternoon on the off-chance....
  • I tend to wait until Christmas eve (or the last day) most christmas's. Their are only the 2 of us, and I'm veggie. On a tight budget, so he doesn't know what he is gettting yet - it may be turkey it may be beef. Had some amazing bargains over the years. It is only one meal, and I refuse to get too excited, so much on the box this year working people up to a nervous frenzy.
My all time tip, hope it helps someone, put the turkey on the BBQ. It frees up your oven, and it cooks it really well.
    Enjoy your day.

My local Mr T's (metro in Sheffield), have reduced their fresh turkeys to half price today. This included their Norfolk turkeys. Still too expensive for me as we are on a really tight budget at the moment. It will be chicken for us unless they reduce them a bit more!. Good bargain at half price for anyone with a few mouths to feed perhaps. HTH :)

Last year, we had 30 birds remaining and the other 2 Christmases I been at Sainsburys, we ran out by 11am. I remember customers asking me on last Christmas Eve when I was on the shop floor if there were anymore turkeys in the back as the ones in the chiller were huge for them. One said if we were getting anymore in at 2pm! Erm, No!

No. If you want a small turkey, its best to order one and put £10 deposit down.

  • I just picked up some packs of ready weighed DIY Delia Cranberry sauce for 10p down from £2.99 in my local Waitrose. Will be back tomorrow afternoon to see what else is going cheap.:rotfl:

In one of my local Tescos the store manager has told his managers that the reductions tomorrow will have dates 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th. This is even though the shop is open on the 26th and 27th.

His theory is to clear it all out in one go and save on staff costs on bank holidays having to do loads of reductions.

Not sure if this is store specific or come from further up the chain.
