Never? So why say they ask for a bus ticket as proof?
First they are asking you, then they aren't?
At the end of the day if you don't ask you can't complain or saying anything when you have had to pay out travel
Yes odd figures would stand out but only if you are giving a receipt or ticket and signing and you aren't (so you say)
I do find it odd that anyone would feel like a criminal!!0 -
they ask to see my ticket when I ask for my bus fares back, it's no big deal.
If anything its to prove that they aren't fiddling the money more than I am. I show them the ticket, they write the amount down on a sheet then when they hand me the money over. I then sign to say they have given me that amount.
No different to any petty cash system I've ever known in all the jobs I've had.0 -

I have only had cash back for my travel once at my induction. After that I have to tell the receptionist when I am next in and I get a pre paid bus ticket they stamp the appropriate date on it.0

I'm not on the WP yet, as I haven't been on JSA long enough. However, I had a call from the Job Centre this morning about a work placement with my local council. The woman who called me started the conversation with "we'd like to invite you to an interview for a role with the local council." I was thinking great stuff and then she said "it's for an unpaid placement, which could possibly lead to a job." I agreed, but I find this so annoying. If there was a job available that they needed to fill, surely they would advertise it! What are the actual chances, after a month of doing 16 hour weeks for free, that there will be a job at the end of it? I'm thinking pretty slim!
The woman was so patronising too! "I'll send an application form for you to fill out. If you find it difficult, please bring it in on the day and someone will help you!" I managed to complete an Economics degree, I think I'll cope! "Do you have a CV?" Ermmm, yes and it's probably better than yours! And "It's an interview, so you need to dress smartly." Really? So I can't just turn up in tracky bottoms tucked into my socks!! :mad:0 -

Do not fill it all in, take it with you and say you have had some problems understanding it!
They seem to think we have no idea what a CV is! All of ours are probably better than theirs!
I hope something comes from this for you, good luck.0 -
This is what we've come to, people with good educations having to work for free (guarantee of job or not) in order to obtain work. It's one of those gradual processes that erodes all of our rights.0

That is why I said (guarantee of a job or not) as even with it isn't something I am entirely comfortable with. If they can get somebody in for free then they will, sometimes it will end up with that person learning some good skills, maybe even being taken on0
