i dont have money to waste. i walk instead.
why do they pay £4.60 if its only £2.70?
    CLAIM THE TRAVEL!!!!

I wanted to claim £2.70 (£1.35 each way on a bus using an oyster) but to prove I used an oyster on the bus 7 miles I can not get a print out of my account till the next day. The Provider wouldn't accept this so I had two arguments with then till I called and emailed TFL and got proof in writing that this was the case.

I told the WP that I could not prove till the next day that I had used £1.35 on my card to get there so what did they suggest.

The centre manger told me that when I came to see them in Jan to buy a paper ticket for the bus at £2.30 (so £4.60 there and back) and hand that in as a one off and going forward they will pay me £4.60 EVERY TIME I go there as they will not pay me £2.70!!

How stupid is that? I have it in writing and take it with me every time I go there and since they had no £ in the tin last time I am to claim £9.20 next time I go there!

I never said that, it was donnajunkie - the quote went wrong on here

I say they DO NOT sanction you if you are at a job interview or ill and can prove it and not wait till 2 mins before your appointment to call them!
what about the example i gave. i wasnt fibbing. it actually happened. i acknowledge it is very unlikely but you cant be sure it definitely wont happen.

Not courses, but a Maths and English test? I wondered why I heard most people on here have had to do them even someone I know, her sister had to but not me.
it may vary from one provider to another. i personally experienced new deal twice. we had to do the tests then. i got 100% on both the first time but still had to do them again the second time i was there.

i wont claim travel unless its unavoidable because i dont like being made to feel like a criminal. they ask for a bus ticket as proof (coz they dont believe you) well thats what it feels like. it is like they assume you will definitely lie about the fare. not only that you have to keep the ticket you get going home and take that in the next time you are in to show them. they defend this by saying its a requirement of the jobcentre. i know that is bo**ocks because i have done other things where i didnt have to show the ticket. i even did a course run by the jobcentre last year. the jobcentre bloke asked if we wanted to claim travel. i said yes and he didnt ask for a ticket. i then had to take the form across the road to the jobcentre to get the money and again they did not ask for a ticket. my cynical side makes me wonder if the provider pockets unclaimed fares for themselves.

LOL they ask for proof as ANY petty cash system needs receipts so no they can not pocket the unclaimed fares as you have to sign for it!

wage? What to be on the work programme?

Having read up more on this work programme, I did get the wrong word! I did a similar thing a good 20 years ago but at least they added a £10 to the benefit. They've not improved same thing different name. My Dad called it pure exploitation,I remember my cousin actually liked a placement, was there a good 6 month's then they found a reason to get rid.

they dont really need the tickets because like i have said i have been on similar things where no ticket was asked for. one asked for a ticket on the first day and then paid future expenses based on that.

They do because how do you explain all this money being paid out? It has to be the CHEAPEST mode of transport! I could easily say 'oh yeah I got a cab, that will be £20 please'!
