actually the usual stance is by the time you are on the work programme you are expected to be up for anything.
NO that is not the case at all. I have 3 jobs listed on my JSA and bar work is not one of them & with 20 years exp in accounts and no expereince in a bar I stand a zero chance of getting a job there. They are morons and I have emailed the centre manager and her and my adviser to say what was the point of calling companies when she didn't have my CV nor know what work I was looking for! It is a joke and a total waste time!

yes they will still have the main jobs on record but they do expect you to be up for anything. so if they start talking about a bar job that has come in then they obviously think you could go for it. they would certainly expect you to be willing to go for it. i am not saying you arent right when you say the job isnt suitable. i am just explaining why they may suggest a bar job to you.

They have not suggested bar work to me they THOUGHT from the list I was looking for bar work! How can they assume that when the idiot woman didn't even have my CV.

The job you get is meant to be substainable and bar work is not for someone like me!

a reply just now from the WP

    '

There has clearly been some misunderstanding, and having read your cv I can see that you have very good experience in accounts. I will endeavour to try and find something suitable, but in this current climate companies seem to be reluctant to take on staff, hopefully things may improve after April.'

If your WP is better that what are they really doing for you.........yes they may not have lost you in the system, have a copy of your cv (and mine is in the folder that they have but they are too thick to get the folder), know the rules etc but what are they really doing...............nothing!? Same as all of them.

I have read through the dwp link. The course I have been mandated to including 2 days customer services the rest emplyability, I do not see it as reasonable there are only so many times you can do workshops about CVs etc and everyone you see has a different opinion anyway, also I have never expressed an interest in customer service training. Never had anything in writing either unless they count that action plan I signed only because I was told course was mandatory for all and that was a lie.
I do feel my jobseeking will be compramised I do not want to apply for jobs from their centre unless its a written application. I do not want to log on to my personal email from their computers either. On my job seekers agreement I have to take 3 steps a week and I apply for between 4-7 a week depending on whats out there so I more than adhere to my jobseekers agreement.
This course is till 4:30 everyday I do not see myself getting home till 6pm as the bus I get picks up from 2 colleges and I have already been warned by other people a couple of buses will just sail pass as they will be full. In the past I have had emails where I am asked if I can pop in for interview the next day and to let them know, how can I do that if I don't get home till gone 6 and their offices will be shut by then.
Got told at induction to try and get our signing times changed to 9 am so we do not miss the course, I couldnt do that as my job centre does not open till 10 am now on a Wednesday. Really did not get the impression they will accommodate interviews, courses that are like half a day workshop in CV writing or whatever at least they give you time to jobseek.
Like above poster I only had an induction not even a 1-1 yet so noone knows me there yet it was felt I had to be mandated to this course- its a joke.

What happens if I use the period of sickness you are allowed on JSA ? will that mean I will be re mandated, if so then at least I can argue that and refuse to sign the action plan and ask to see the manager as the course is not useful to me.

Anyone know the rules for time off at the jobcentre ? I know you can have 2 weeks UK holiday. Is it the same for sickness you are allowed one fortnight ? I did do this years ago now and I had a sicknote but they didn't need to see it, the rules have probably changed by now.

Find out who your MP is and complain like hell.Speaking to the provider about this probably wont get you no-where.I agree its a total waste of time these superficial courses that back in the real world wont get you anywhere, including the hourly rates of pay on offer.
