  • KevInChester, thank you for posting, I have never seen anything as bad as that, wish the newspapers would take notice.
    Fortunate not to have been put on a WP, being presented in that would give me the 5 stages of grief, but hopefully without acceptance.
    I mean how can anyone feel presented with such a shoddy worthless document?

  • This was also the session in which the ''teacher' decided to tell everyone - and remember there were vulnerable adults on this training, that if you worked in a shop and saw a shoplifter it was your duty to apprehend them. I told her in no uncertain terms it was not your duty at all unless you were store security, and in that case you'd be best advised to wait until they'd crossed over the threshold before apprehending. She disputed this and said if you felt threatened you could take another member of staff along with you as support. I just said well you'll end up either being hurt, sacked or both. Stores do not want to employ have a go heroes. The correct thing would be to notify security, or in the absence of that a supervisor/manager. It's not your role to apprehend a potential shoplifter.

    There were other things in the session that irked me too, if people are desperate for a job working in Admin or a Customer Service role, it's ok to mention that the wage will most likely be minimum wage. However mentioning it 4 or 5 times alongside things such as "these are the lowest jobs around", "you'll rarely get anything above minimum" etc was just not necessary and seemed more for her own ego than anything.

    Sent my emails to parliament will wait and see if I get a response.

    will also do the same with my local MP.

    I went to one of them interview techniques sessions on FND they tell you nothing a jobseeker wouldn't already know.

    However he did say if you took all the advice in how to sit you would be sat there straight, leaning in and tiilting your head to one side and you would look a bit foolish - waste of time lol.

    I wonder what qualifications & experience these "advisors" have ?

    They can rope in anyone to do these jobs, that's why government uses private companies, as they can take shortcuts on who they employ & techniques they use.

    Are many of them qualified to advise jobseekers & tell them what to do ?

    Ps: have you seen the DWP Recruiting Again thread on this board, how desperate people are for jobs, how desperate they are for stable DWP/government jobs & long drawn out process DWP goes through.

    My advisor emailed me a job she saw she thought would be suitable? Does anyone else's do that?

    Is wasnt suitable anyway.

    one of the advisors emailed me a job the same day as I was in their offices for job search........the closing date on the job was a week earlier. lol

    I emailed him and pointed it out and I've heard nothing since.

    Wow! Being an ex-store manager I can say in no uncertain terms it is never the sales assistants job to apprehend a shop lifter. Where is this person getting their information from?

    It also reminds me of my first fire safety training. Here is a fire extinguisher, here is how to use one. Now if you ever find a fire hit the fire alarm and leave. We have insurance to cover costs we don't have insurance to bring you back to life. I repeated that to everyone of my staff members.

    its ok for them to initiate something with an employer by saying are you interested in taking one of our clients. however if you apply to a company independantly then i think that company cant generally disclose info about you without your permission.

    My late great uncle (Former senior fire officer) told me that only thing a fire extinguisher was be used for. Was to assist you in escaping a fire not fighting it. Leave fire fighting to these who are trained and paid to do so.
