    Hi donnajunkie,

Why was it a mistake in that you informed them as to it was no good etc? did they then send you on many other waste of time courses.
they want people to tell them what they want to hear. when i had said what i thought of the course their attitude changed and they started saying you've got to do this and you've got to do that. the appointment was only supposed to be about reviewing my experience on the course i had done. of course you need to use your judgement because in some cases it is more important to let them know the truth.

To the poster above I only have my CV as a printed copy and also as a document on my home pc. Will I be made to put it on something external ? I apply for jobs from home so do not see a need.
continue to have it on your pc but also put it onto a floppy disc or a cd-rw. you can then take the floppy disc or cd-rw into the centre when you do your jobsearch there. never leave the disc at the centre. if they change your cv and you dont like it then of course still keep that version on the disc but when you get home add the version you like to the disc as well(you can fit plenty of letters and cvs onto a disc especially a cd-rw). then if they arent scrutinising which you use while you are there you can just use the one you prefer. if they do scrutinise which you use then just do the bare minimum while there and use the one they want you to use. then at home you can revert back to useing the one you prefer.

when they ask what you though of it dont make the mistake i made and say it wasnt of use or that it wasnt anything you didnt already know. just say it was useful and you liked it.
If they don't want an honest answer maybe they shouldn't ask the question. I'd always tell them like I have already what they are (not) doing is a waste of time.

I know I can refuse a course but as I was told yesterday I would be reported to the job centre and may be sanctioned. I claim JSA as I am looking for work and I can back up all my applications and show my CV so would I be sanctioned for not wanting to do a course ?

If sanctioned for this will I repeatedly get put on mandatory courses and re sanctioned but for longer ? Also does hardship provision still exist if you are sanctioned ? living alone I would have no income for bills/electricity etc. Not that I think it would be fair to be sanctioned for this as the only rule really to claim JSA is to be actively seeking work and can prove it.

Thanks for any info anyone has
you will find that most things are put down as mandatory but if you ask they sometimes will let you off doing certain things. dont ever refuse. just ask do i have to do this particular thing. they may then ask you why and if you give an acceptable reason why you think you shouldnt have to do it then they will probably let you off.
a sanction just means you will be without money for a set period of time. you still sign on and you still have to attend the work programme.
hardship does still exist for those who meet the criteria. it is also rarely paid for the first 2 weeks of a sanction. sometimes the rules surrounding sanctions can be stricter if the sanction is related to a mandatory course.

For some unknown reason they hope we all overlook this fact! sec 2.

    Action Planninghttp://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/wp-pg-chapter-3.pdf

You have the freedom to develop your own processes to support participants, plan activity and manage their experience whilst on the Work Programme which will be driven by your delivery model.

You must notify the participant in writing if you mandate them to undertake activity.

You must also ensure that as a minimum, participants have access to all ongoing mandatory requirements in a single document that is available to them at their request.

if everyone accepted it is an impossible task then no-one would bid at all. we can blame them for bidding for a share of money on the basis of them getting people a job when they know they cant get people a job. however we cant blame them for not being able to get people a job because like i said its an impossible task. if there arent enough jobs a work scheme cant do anything to change that. if employers arent interested in employing the long term unemployed theres nothing a work scheme can do to change that.

That would have been the most sensible thing for those idiots to have done,"no-one bid" or even had distributed the £3billion plus which will be wasted on this dead end scheme to the unemployed to go and spend in the shops it would create jobs and tax on goods etc. They have just done this to kill time hoping the recession will ride out.Unfortunately, thats not happening unless you believe all the political bull !!!! spin we see on the news etc.Where i live in , manufacturing is totally hammered, and my local town centre is packed full of the charity shops those !!!!! in goverment want us all working in for £2 per hr"approx"

As you say donnajunkie, employers dont want to employ long term unemployed, they never did when the going was good and sure as hell wont do it now,or will depending on price. How little can we all afford to work for.
