Making you give up a mornings voluntary work.:footie:0

New to the Thread and I can not comments on all of the many posts before expect to say we have just recruited 4 new members of staff by using the job centre.
Was very surprised but they where fantastic. Actually better than fantastic and I know that we had a terrible time deciding who to employ and who not to.
But and this is only our opinion as so many applied to started to come down to ways to rule applicants out. Silly things such as the way the application was completed. Qualifications naturally but we also looked at what people had been doing.
We have taken team members for full time positions who where already in part time employment but we have also taken team members who have been long term unemployed.
We have over 250 applications for 4 jobs and TBH it was terrible. I felt terrible, could not eat, could not sleep, if I could I would of given them all a job.
I understand that it is hard out there and know that everyone has a story, but please do not give up.
One lady who know will is amazing and do a fab job has not had a job for three years. What stuck in my throat was that when we asked what she had been doing she said trying everything. When we asked why she did not have a job she simply said because no one will give me a chance. As she said the longer you are unemployed the hard it gets.
I am not trying to patronise, or be high and mighty far from it last week was a real eye opener for me I did not realise just how hard it was out there. Yes you read the stories and reports watch the news but sometimes I think a lot of us forget that these are real people.
Good luck.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -

You all seem to think the JSA are nasty people only from what you have experienced.
Yes what's on the course? You say you are doing something that will help the likes of me yet wont even say one line about itWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
You seem to think the people at the JC are my mates? I don't know them and they have NO reason to be nice to me at all.

we dont think they are all nasty.
it is something that would be considered to be something that would help you. it is about improving your approach to increase your chances of success. thats its purpose. there really is no need to give actual examples of what we actually do. dont ask me what they would advise you to do. i dont know i am not them.0 -

Improving your approach to increase chances of success?

yes it is largely the same old nonsense.
yes your adviser has decided they should suffer more. whether they deserve that or not is another matter.0 -
But my advisor sees some people weekly so she is not 'nice' to them.

no you cant seem to get it into youre head that theres nice advisors and jobsworth advisors who get of on the tiny bit of power they have over people, mine arnt really nasty people, they are just sad and have nothing better to do in there life, they live for it, it makes them feel great about themselves. they would ignore your qualifications and jobsearch and focus on the sole fact you have been unemployed for this long
this is the perfect example, i had a new guy today filling in for the jobsworth ones ive been talking about, he said to me what times best for you, i said any,.they would never ask that, then he said come in tuesday where as the sad jobsworths would make me come in monday, you seem to think the jobsworths would treat you differnt when they wouldnt
AP007 if you came into my jobcentre youd be in daily 100% IF you were put with them 2 !!!!!es
also the 2 !!!!!es that i see are allways nice to me and i am back, but they are jobworths and thats all that matters to them, not about them being nice or nasty its just that they love there new found power and abusing it because thats how sad they are0
