That's not as barmy as it sounds. If you are genuinely not getting interviews or jobs due to being overqualified it would help you to do voluntary work in a role that is below your qualification level but at the level at which you may realistically get a job. That way the employer will see that you can and have successfully worked in a role which you are technically overqualified for.

I agree it's unfortunate that the system is so out of whack that you would have to go to such lengths but in a back to front sort of way it makes sense.
I have done jobs on my CV that are not senior jobs and are the same as the ones I am applying for.

Also I have applied for voluntary work and getting no where.

I cant do anything different unless I take off 50% of my CV and pretend to have no experience

Are they teaching you that's what you should do if over qualified?

My JC say to take a volunteer job to over come that :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Or they may suggest Mandatory Work Activity or Work Experience.

    Basically yes.

Mandatory Work Activity or Work Experience or Voluntary Work in anything, any job, lower level jobs, to get recent work experience/reference, that's what they'll say.

I'm surprised they are being so nice to you, aren't suggesting/pushing these things.

How does that work then? I get work experience doing something I have never done before & then only am allowed to apply for those types of jobs? A new reference will not add to my accounts career if its not from an accounts job.

I have applied for Voluntary Work and emailed the proof to the JC and I have no reply from any even after chasing them up. Only one from the Guide Dogs for the Blind saying they only had funding for volunteers from their area.

I have 4 references, one for a CEO and 2 from company directors I also have 4 recommendations on LinkedIn.

I only do what the JC and before the WP tell me and they never suggested work experience or MWA or anything at all come to think of it as I was left to do my own thing.

its about what your goals are and what you need to do to achieve them. this means looking at any barriers. i am not saying it is a good course and isnt flawed. i am simply saying that due to issues you have you are someone who could get sent on it.
