The thought that they "might do something" for an individual to end up in a job (yes, I'm looking at you LadyMissA) is a little optimistic to say the least.

"We" all know that the job situation is dire - so what kind of help would they - sensibly - offer? (Let's - please - not bring up the slave/work experience/voluntary positions with Tesco et al.) For those who are considered "work ready" (CAG1?), then the provider is in no better a position to offer help than a random person off the street - and certainly not better tha the individual themselves - who is no doubt doing all they can on a daily basis to get out of the quicksand of unemployment.

This is why the whole Work Progamme is a load of bolleaux. There - is -nothing -they - can -do and anything they are being paid could be put to better use elsewhere.
The DWP have told me that the WP WILL help me, so let them do so.

What help can they offer? I was made to write a list of 50 companies (well I made it 50) I wanted to work with. I provided the email addresses for HR, the full address and phone numbers and the website address and they have done nothing with this list in 6 weeks! They have a BDC person (no idea what that means) who will call all these companies and talk to them about me and see if they have any jobs etc, but I have never met this person so not sure that will be effective at all.

Why then are the ones that are 'work ready' still having to go to visit these idiots?

BREAKING NEWS! A4e's Emma Harrison has resigned! No not from A4e. But from her role as Cameron's 'family champion'! Not before time! Now A4e needs to be investigated at the magnifying glass level by the Serious Fraud Office! Indeed, the W2W industry as a whole really needs looking at.

Well said, and totally agree with you. This whole naff idea is costing billions plus 80million a year in legal costs through the sanctions DWP are giving out like raffle tickets, people are now queing around the block in the appeals process ,there is a vid on you tube about this by the CAB. One !!!! up of an idea and a goverment to match.

Like all good politicians they have to be see to be doing something, but in a economic downturn such as this one they should really have left everyone alone.I think going over to the workprogramme for a chat is a total waste of everyones time and more of tax payers money.

I have mentioned that for the WP 6 weeks ago I had to write a list of companies I wanted to work for. Well when I emailed my homework to them before I attended this week I mentioned that an agency had put me forward for a job with one of the companies I had listed to best not to contact them if they hadn't already. Well I got no response and even when I went to the WP this week they never even mentioned the list and if they even bothered with it. Anyway, yesterday I thought I'd just send speculative emails to all the contacts on the list with my CV and references to see what happened. So far today I have had 5 replies all of who say I have great experience but at present they have no jobs but will keep my CV on file. I have just said yes to this that they can hold it for a year. Surely if the WP had done anything at all with my list these contacts would have my CV already?! I am going to bring this up in 3 weeks time when I next visit the WP and see what they say. This task was set for me to write a list of companies as part of my homework and their side was to make all the contacts. The provider classes this as non complicance!

i wouldnt bother bringing it up. the more you say things they dont like the more likely they are to give you a hard time. i know its hard to resist the temptation to tell them exactly what you think but you need to stop and think, will it get me anywhere, could this backfire on me. most of the time it is better to just tell them what they want to hear and nod your head alot. i recently told mine what i thought of a stupid motivation course she made me do. i could tell she didnt like what i was saying. she said most people tell her that it was helpful. i just thought they are just telling you what you want to hear. which is really what i should have done.

That I guess is where we are different. I put in a formal complaint and they couldn't apologise more. Even the centre manager came into the reception and said sorry and told me all what he was doing since he took over. I am the only one there that gets £4.60 refunded for a £2.70 oyster ticket.

If you do not speak up you get no where and treated like all the other idiots there

I was told if I didn't do the homework set I would be in 'non compliance' and I could be signed off so what makes them different?

I even asked last week if they wanted another list of another 25 companies and I was told no!! LOL

of course some things are serious enough that you should speak up. its a case of judging when you should speak up and when its better to just keep quiet. during my last appointment she said it was just to review the motivation course. then after i told her it wasnt very good she started saying you have to do this and you have to do that. she also told me i had to see her again in 2 weeks time.
  • Hi, new to this but this page / thread has been an interesting read.

I have a first meeting with one of the providers tomorrow. I've decided that I am not going to sign anything they ask me to. Is that going to cause issues?

I've read about the Chapter 5 (A1) so I know they can't force me to sign consent but is that the same with other forms?

I will be taking along my cv, letter etc because I would really like to know why I can't seem to get back to work but other then that, all research is telling me that these providers are a waste of time and effort.

So, I went to the meeting with the WP provider and when I get there, they inform me that they had sent a letter out to change the time and date of the appointment which I never received! Wasted journey.

If anyone can help with the above, it would be appreciated.
